Having purchased a house through Marie Holmes, I wouldn’t recommend anyone more. All of the staff involved were professional, had great communication and speed with resolving issues.
I could say a bad thing about any of the staff, whether that be Marie, Deborah, Carly or Michelle. Deborah was our primary content and has a wonderful and personable character, great to deal with, during what may be the most stressful financial periods for most individuals.
I would highly recommend Marie Holmes Estates.

We sold our home with Marie holmes estates and we were guided through the whole process with such professionalism and care that we didn’t even feel any of the anxiety or pressure that you normally would have when selling a house.
Marie Holmes’ staff shielded us and helped us to navigate a previously untrodded path for us. They really did make it easy.
I can not recommend them enough, they go above and beyond for thier clients. The review only goes up to 5 stars but you know when you are with this team they give way beyond five star treatment.

On five occasions now , since 2006, I have used the fantastic services of Marie Holmes Estate agents, and would never go anywhere else, I did once try a well known high street agency, but following discussions with Marie Holmes, returned from the "dark side" and didn't regret it.
Nothing is too much trouble, nothing in-surmountable, a pleasant, stress free, at what everyone knows is one of the most stressful times of your life, professional service, and attitude, and endeavour to always complete to the customers satisfaction. Its 25 years this year that Marie Holmes was established, and for 20 years of that I have watched the business grow, and have no doubt that for many years to come, Marie Holmes will continue at the highest levels.

We were repeatedly told that the vendor was reviewing their surveyor's report to send to us and that we did not need to buy our own surveys. Highly unusual. We spent a month calling for an update, despite being assured the agent would contact us.
?It was revealed only after persistent chasing that the property had already been sold to a higher bidder, with zero intention of informing us or presenting a counter-offer.
?This represents a significant waste of time for any buyer focused on efficiency. While we are happy the vendor achieved their desired price, the lack of professional update and misleading communication about the property status is unacceptable. Buyers should anticipate having to constantly chase the team for any progress.

I wouldn’t blame Carly, Deborah, or Marie at Marie Holmes Estate Agents in Penwortham if they never wanted to hear from me again! This was a tricky file with more than its fair share of bumps, and I was definitely a bit of a pain in the process. But all three of them went above and beyond at every stage.
Professional, patient, and relentlessly helpful, they stuck with it and kept things moving when others might have given up. Their communication was always spot-on, they never made me feel like a burden (even when I probably was!), and they handled every challenge with calm, competence, and good humour.

I've recently sold a terraced property in the Lostock Hall area with Marie Holmes.
I chose to use one of the smaller independent agents rather than a nationwide company after speaking with a friend who herself used MH to sell her house and she highly recommended them.
From the initial valuation right up to final sale day they were excellent.
I had a few property boundary issues which prolonged the sale but during that whole process Deborah and Carly kept me fully informed of everything that was happening and made sure I was fully aware of any problems that I needed to address.
All in all Marie Holmes were superb and I would definitely recommend them in the future.

I've dealt with my fair share of estate agents in the past, and let me tell you, it hasn't always been a pleasant experience. But I have to say, Marie Holmes was a breath of fresh air. From the moment we met Carly and Deborah, we knew we were in good hands.
As any parent knows, moving house with little ones is no easy feat. Carly and Deborah were absolute angels throughout the entire process. They were always there to answer our questions, no matter how small or silly they might have seemed. And they never hesitated to go the extra mile to help us out.
There were a few times when the chain threatened to fall through, and it was Carly and Deborah who stepped up to keep it together. They tirelessly chased down everyone involved, from estate agents to solicitors to vendors and buyers. They were like the glue that held the whole thing together.

My experience of estate agents in the past has not been good, but we are so glad we went with Marie Holmes. Carly and Deborah looked after us through the whole process of moving and on the move date. We instructed Marie Holmes to market our property on the Thursday before Good Friday, it was sold by lunchtime time Saturday! Marie was absolutely bang on with her marketing strategy, and valuation.
Everyone at Marie Homes worked tirelessly to get us to completion. The work Michelle, especially, put in was crazy! She was constantly on the ball, and constantly kept things moving between the chain.
I cannot thank these ladies enough for all their hard work.

We didn’t get the kind of service we were hoping for. They only kept us informed of progress of the sale when we made contact with them. We had no say in the process and we had to sort out our circumstances several times to suit the buyers (Marie Holmes Estates was responsible for the sale of the buyers home as well as ours) and when we insisted on a delay between exchange and completion, Marie Holmes Estates’ response was that it couldn’t be done due to COVID 19 when it fact it had nothing to do with the pandemic which became apparent after reading correspondence between solicitors. We also asked them to do a meter reading on completion of the sale which they failed perform after they assured us that wouldn’t be a problem at all. After completion they took no responsibility of what we had asked them to do!

We have used Marie Holmes estates for buying and selling of several properties, and quite honestly would not go anyway else by choice. We have had several disappointing experiences with other agencies. For example; not returning calls for nearly two weeks, the agent conducting the viewing had little knowledge of the property being sold and one left me sat outside waiting for a viewing only to cancel 3 minutes before as they hadn’t got the keys (the appointment had been made a week earlier)!! Despite the reply, I dealt with this estate agent and they were frankly woeful. They didn’t bring contact details for viewers, so when the viewer didn’t arrive while the agent was present, they had no way of contacting them to chase them up or find out where they were, wasting my time and theirs. As the sale progressed, I had to chase these agents up when any issues arise with the buyer and had to do most of the chasing myself. I wouldn’t recommend them at all. As above, they were utterly woeful and disinterested.
Further to the more detailed reply, one “purchaser” who I was told were renting and ready to buy I was later told had to sell there properly first. This company has conveniently “forgotten” all the chasing I had to do to get them to make calls and do follow ups over issues with the purchaser’s mortgage.
Utterly incompetent and happy to gloss over this. As for not taking contact details out of the office, this was NOT explained to me at any point. If you can’t trust your staff with one or two telephone numbers, are they even competent to conduct business?
The eventual purchaser decided to send his mother for a “look around” and grated the property as his own, from the moment he’d made the offer, including sending deliveries to the address and having cable TV installed while I was still living there. When I complained about this to the office after the first incident, I was “brushed off” like this was no issue at all. I’m unsure whether or not the office called the purchaser to tell him to desist as I had no call back as promised.
We also arranged five “secret shoppers”, who contacted the office by telephone to enquire about similar properties in the area. Only once was our property suggested to them.
Simply put, if there are any issues or problems, they’ll just be glossed over while they try to fob you off. I thought the first agents were charlatans, but Marie Holmes certainly have them a run for their money.

Having bought and sold through Marie and her team, I cannot say enough good things about Marie Holmes Estates. A totally stress free experience from start to finish. My property was sold within 2 weeks and for 50k more than what a local competitor had valued it at! The staff really took the time to understand my personal circumstances. I wouldn't go anywhere else.
