I am a Chinese student, will go to KCL in September. A lot of rental agents turned me down because I am a foreigner student hahaha. Of course I meet so many problem?like how to certified my address in China and my visa havent done?Victoria helps me a lot(The security deposit is ten pounds short because of a cross-country transfer. Helps me determine which documents are available) And very patient! I and my roommate are lack of experience to rent a apartment but she helps us kindly. We have a hard time communicating because of the Internet and the time difference, but she still provide some perfect solution to our problems! Love her a lot and thanks a lot!

Selling a flat in London when one is living abroad is a challenging task. Leon Benardout from Barnard Marcus was the biggest help and support during this sometimes rather stressful time. The selling process has gone on for many months, but without Leon (and his team) we would have despaired more than once. Leon always replied quickly, explained the local situation, phoned various contacts on our behalf and reported back on the outcome of a variety of issues. Recently looking for a property to rent and found myself not quite sure where to search as every property available was always gone by the time I called an agent! Victoria really took the time to discuss what I was looking for instead of pushing all the properties she had, she told me she would keep a look out for me and she did. I got a call from her 5 days after registering advising me she had found the right property! She ensured my interests were looked after so I felt safe and secure. I can happily say anyone looking to rent in N10 or surrounding areas to call her as she was always going above and beyond which is very rare these days!

This is the first negative review I leave - but I urge you not to let from Barnard Marcus.
Extremely difficult to deal with and very slow to respond and take action to any issues.
When we moved in the flat had not been cleaned despite the contract saying it would be - it had a layer of dust everywhere, moldy food and things from the previous tenants left behind, including a used condom wrapper in the bedroom. We were not given the right amount of keys to the property, and were not originally reimbursed after having been asked to go cut more keys ourselves. Multiple lightbulbs were not working . Personal details of other tenants had been left in the property.
Despite the issues they asked us to leave them a 5 star review on Google.
When we had problems with leaks and rodents and heater giving up in winter it took a long time before anything was done. There is no emergency number, meaning that if emergencies happen in the evenings or weekends you can't get any support.
After vacating the property over a month ago we still haven't received any of the deposit back, despite asking continuously.
Avoid letting from Barnard Marcus at all cost.

The Muswell Hill office of Barnard Marcus advertised a flat which looked right for me, but then it was snapped up by someone quicker, and then, at another flat, the tenant refused viewings due to Covid fears, and there were difficulties at the third ... Throughout it all, whether problems with my application, or the disappointments just mentioned, Andrijana Tolic conducted the company's business with utmost courtesy, attention to detail, truly helpful guidance, and with extremely kind patience. In my experience of moving homes, and dealings with estate agents (speaking very generally), I've never quite known whether I was was being told the truth (and often not), and/or just the object of unscrupulous business practice, being little more than cannon fodder. Andrijana Tolic was from the outset, a real breath of fresh air in the business, and a serious credit to her employer. I was sincerely grateful for her quite excellent service.

The worst experience I’ve ever had! Took £300 deposit from me, assured all the paperwork I provided is perfect and the landlord will definitely approve, kept me waiting for 15 days, and at the end told me that the landlord already agreed to give the house to someone else.
Wasted my time, as I was not looking for other places, because they assured me it will 100% go through.
DO NOT recommend!!!

He managed to keep the deal going regardless of these unexpected delays, very efficiently negotiating between the both parties. I can't give 0 stars. Avoid that agency for any price. Very bad tendency service. Before you sign the contract they treat you like King after you nobody. They try to force us to pay the debt of landlords. Almost every month they try to force us to pay rent early than contract says, explain that the landlord needs to pay the mortgage on time. Almost two years were like in hell. 12/12/2020 we get back freedom from them and was not easy. After one month they try to take from us almost £2000 for not existing damage. Where we move into the flat we need to make all decoration painting, we buy new American style fridge with we left in the flat all white goods have all between 10-20 years old. Please be careful before you sign any contract with that agency. I live in London over 14years and I have never so many problems and stress, even if you think all is over they still try to get money from your pocket. It is not worth I will prefer to be homeless than using that agency again.
I just looking for the legal advice to post all emails from that agency including email where we are was forced to pay the debt of the landlord all we will post here as soon as possible.

The agents themselves were nice and seemed reasonable enough but this means nothing if they don’t live up to their word.
I paid the holding despot for a flat a few weeks ago for an offer that was ultimately unsuccessful.
Fair enough.
However despite countless phone calls and emails I have still not received this money back.
It betrays a considerable amount of bad-will for a company to withhold money that is not legally theirs and to expect YOU as its rightful owner to spend weeks trying to contact them in order that it be returned.

Our own estate agent (through which we were selling our previous home) were mostly absent, throughout the process. Therefore Barnard Marcus were the main point of contact for chasing both sides of the chain (even though this was above their responsibility). We have no doubt that without the help of Barnard Marcus, we'd all still be waiting to move as they were the key driver in getting the actions needed in our chain. My partner and I were on the search for a one bedroom flat and we’d seen a lot of duds until Rob showed us one we loved, we knew it was a little too far away for us but we still loved it so much and Rob was so lovely and helpful throughout the whole process he was really rooting for us to get it and was really cooperative! I have unfortunately had to edit my original review due to real incompetence and misconduct around the return of my deposit. It will be over 3 weeks by the time I get it back, despite no disputes or delays from my landlady. There have been a few other issues: passing on my data without my consent to an energy company who set up a contract for me against my wishes; leaving the property unsecured after a viewing; and failing to notify me when they'd arranged an open day at my flat. But the real kicker is that they've financially ruined me by withholding an £1800 deposit for three weeks. I am in real trouble. There are some very nice and helpful people there but the system is utter chaos and I would very very much avoid renting through them.

I would just like to say if you’re ever looking for a home these guys know what they are doing, it was a pleasure dealing with Robert who was helpful and actually listened to us about what we were after, Nightmare agents kept telling us everything was gone on their websites and then we lucked out when we came across is great flat, the process was seamless and clear throughout with Robert and Priya making sure they worked for us just as hard as sometimes this is not always the case! hey even got a discount in the rent for the year which was an added bonus and the landlord was always just as nice. Pleasure dealing with the lettings team and wouldn’t hesitate recommending other tenants.

Stephen was fantastic to deal with throughout and we exchanged within 6 weeks of the first viewing. He was thoroughly professional, really likeable and always available to chat things through. Karen helped the sale over the line when things hit a little snag and we are absolutely delighted with the overall service, especially as we had been locked into a contract with Hobarts for 12 weeks beforehand and hadn’t got anywhere and were panicking after having our baby and needing to move. I really do recommend them.

From my first, tentative phone call with Takura to all my contact with Stephen and Patris, the team have been brilliant. So different to the stereotype of estate agents! They are genuinely interested, enthusiastic, expert and energised. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they have been amazingly flexible and helpful about my change of circumstances. This was our first time experience in purchasing a property;a daunting process which was made waaaaaaaaaay easier and less stressful with the team in Barnard Marcus Muswell Hill branch. The team here are on point, and are very good at what they are doing. Just to begin the experience was brilliant right from the start, the sales consultant Patris understood our needs and was patient with us in making our decisions and made sure we liked the property explaining items carefully even over the weekends. We took the whole suite of services provided by Barnard Marcus conveyancing, Mortgage advice all under one roof which made the process less complicated as everyone is in touch with everyone and you don't need to chase up. Leon the mortgage adviser was brilliant in explaining the process and we got better rates than the independent one. Again another brilliant experience. Finally Karen Attack who literally works on behalf of you chasing up all the legal sides of things. The amount of stress Karen takes off you is something buyers will definitely appreciate. You literally just trust the team as long as the sellers don't create any hiccups you are guaranteed to be in safe hands. All queries were replied literally within an hour or within a day and you are updated and informed as the process moves. Excellent service.
