I made a mistake of using Belhus for my property in the UK when I moved to the US. I'm 4 months in, still don't know when I'm supposed to be paid each month (there was some work I had to pay out for the first couple of months, so they cancelled out the rent). I emailed 6 weeks ago to confirm the date and amount, chased 2 times too and still haven't managed to get a response. I wish I had sold the property, because dealing with Pauline on the sale side was great - she was very, very helpful and responsive. Hopefully, i'll be back to update/delete this review in a few months time - but as of now, i'm not impressed.... Read more

Belhus look after our flat in Colchester. They visit regularly to check its condition, and respond quickly to any requests from the tenant. If repairs or maintenance are required they find tradespeople very quickly and can even undertake some work themselves. On more than one occasion they have negotiated, on our behalf, with other organisations connected with the building. We have employed their services since 2008. Despite a number of different tenants over this time, they have been highly effective in finding new tenants, and I don’t think there has been a single week without a tenant. Excellent service with extremely helpful staff. As a tenant renting for the first time I found Katy to be brilliant in advising me as to the way forward and the necessary steps I needed to take. When being shown the property our decision was heavily influenced by the warm service received which when compared with other local estate agents was lacking elsewhere. Because of the professionalism of the company and their pro-active nature the process has gone smoothly and we will be moving in less than two weeks after the initial viewing. Finally as a tenant it was refreshing to see fair fees charged as opposed to some where fees were almost as high as one month's rent!... Read more

Terrible experience. I arranged to view a property, but when I arrived on the day nobody showed up. After ringing to see where they were I was told it was never put in the diary and so I rearranged for two days time. Two days later, because of my experience, I rang to confirm before driving to the property. I was then informed that not only had it not been put in the diary AGAIN but the property had been let the week before. I feel it would be more than reasonable to expect a call to inform me that the property had been let before the first viewing (where nobody showed up), when I called to ask where the letting agent was, or at least before I rang them to confirm my second viewing appointment. No doubt if I had not rung I would have had to find out when nobody showed up to my viewing the second time. This makes me believe this company has no respect for your time.
