Arranged with my tenant for access, on the day and time of the viewing nobody arrived.
Contacted the branch who had no record of the booking and could not fit me in that day.

Very disappointing experience. Allowed us to view a property twice, then when it came to putting an offer forward they said we needed to speak to their mortgage advisor, despite me telling them no and that we have our own mortgage and financial advisor and had our agreement in principle document to provide as evidence of affordability. I then attempted to put forward an offer for a second time, only to be met with the same response of “you need to speak with our mortgage advisor to ‘pre qualify’ in order for us to put forward your offer.” I was not about to waste my time with their mortgage advisor when I had my own. Decided against proceeding with the house purely because of their unfair pushy tactics to get you to use their commissions led mortgage advisors. I’m sure the sellers knew nothing about this but I can’t imagine they would be too pleased to hear about genuine offers being lost due to these commissions sales tactics.

Was told by the negotiator that the owners of the property wanted any prospective purchasers to use their mortgage provider - clearly just a tactic to generate a referral fee. Pretty poor imposing conditions on prospective buyers. I would avoid if possible.

Enquired about a property for rent and was spoken to very poorly. I believe her name was Brenda at the Ebbw Vale branch. When asking about the prosses after explaining my situation she patronisingly asked 'and how old are you'. She described the property as very small and basic, which she ended her comments with 'which is perfect for someone like you' whatever that means.
She said she would call back but never bothered. This lady needs training in customer service as her attitude was disgraceful and her tone of voice was like she couldn't be bothered. Spoke to a friend today who also encountered poor customer service when enquiring about a house for sale. I wouldn't recommend using this company unless you want to feel belittled.

Had a valuation on Thursday by Malissa who contacted me on Friday and left a message to contact her on her mobile number. Rang her and left a couple of messages but never got back to me. Rang her again on the Monday and finally got her telling me she was very busy on Monday morning this was afternoon. If you don't have the time to contact clients you need to employ more people. I was then told how big they are and they have 12 offices so it would cost me £2400 to sell my house in order to cover the wages and rent because they are so good. Get a grip! My name Keith Bennett

I moved into a rented property back in October after the first week we had black mold coming through the wall which can be very dangerous to my health especially as I have severe asthma! We notified bidmead cook via email about the problems and the seriousness of the issue regarding my health problems. I had no response so I called them and they told me they would ring me back! Days past and heard nothing, so I contacted them again they said the same again and still heard nothing back. Cut a long story short I've been here for 4 months and still nothing has been done! Not even an acknowledgement to my email or a date as to when the damp will be sorted! This company is a joke and I'd advise anyone who thinking of renting with them to avoid at all cost!

I have had a terrible experience with Bidmead Cook in the Forest of Dean area. I am leasing a house that is managed by Bidmead Cook, the house was not cleaned or prepared for handover, there was so much dust, mould on the windows, mould bathrooms. The whole place smelled very bad and both my wife and I developed a cough soon after living there.
We had a nightmare just getting the key from Bidmead Cook. The washing machine doesn't work, the landlord refused to make it good so we decided to buy our own, and then Bidmead Cook told us that we can't move the landlord's machine out, but I don't think they even discussed this with the landord. We have been hand washing our clothes in the bath!
Bidmead Cook are very slow to reply to any emails, or they don't reply at all. The landlord has agreed to various small repair works, but after 1 month of living at the property nothing has been done because Bidmead Cook are a terrible management company who can't organise anything !!

About 7 yeas ago we were looking for a house to use as a holiday home and ended up at Bidmead Cook in Ebbw Vale where we met Jean who listened carefully to what we wanted and found the ideal house for us.
Last year we decided it was time to sell it and went back to Jean as she had been so helpful when we bought it. Again she came up trumps and sold it for very near the asking price in a short space of time. Our buyer was going to rent out the property and Jean had prospective tenants lined up even before the sale was finalised.
We found Jean to be friendly, helpful and honest about the housing market situation and feel she went out of her way to make sure she had two well-satisfied clients. We would definitely recommend Jean and Bidmead Cook to anyone looking to buy, rent or sell a house

The staff at the Ebbw vale branch was just so helpful and nothing was ever too much trouble, they provided quality marketing (full description/ measurements and a full range of photographs) full viewing feedback and regular updates. I would recommend Bidmead Cook & Fry-Thomas any day, all day.
As a small time landlord with a several properties which I managed myself, I thought I was coping quite well. It was only when I handed over their letting and management to Jean Fry-Thomas and her team that I realised how badly I had in fact, been dealing with the process.! Suddenly the worry went and the regular income came in!! No more stressful dealings with awkward tenants or emergency dashes to find a plumber/electrician, having to leave the phone on while on holiday! Instead I could relax with the confidence of knowing that all that sort of thing was being well handled. They kept me well in the loop, sorted out the paperwork (an added bonus with tax returns) and come the time to sell some of the properties, they did so with their usual efficiency. Never again will I have to blunder through all the new landlord requirements as they handle all of that ever.changing stuff A great team to have on your side and fun to work with !

Bidmead have been my letting agents for quite a few years now. There is one professional that sticks out from the crowd.... Brenda from Bidmead. She is hands on at Ebbw Vale and Brynmawr. Always returns calls, always sorts out any problems I might have with the tenants or if contractors are required. She talks problems through with the tenants who can be quite difficult at times but she certainly has a way with all of them. She is blessed with Common Sense that is sadly lacking these days and Bidmead would be lost without her. Long live Brenda I say!!!!! Communication was very good throughout, with Jeanne and Gill informing me throughout the selling process, keeping me unto date with all the prospective buyers that viewed the property (great when you live in Spain).
Any questioned were promptly answered, unlike the company i went with first (purple Bricks) who were very unprofessional, priced the property to high, took bad photos and were very hard to get hold of when viewers wanted to view property.
My advice would be to stick with your local estate agent (Bidmead & Cook) who know the market in the area, and are dedicated to selling your house for you.

I have used Bidmead Cook & Fry Thomas for many, many years, firstly because of Jeanne Fry Thomas’ knowledge and experience in the field, and secondly as a company they are professional throughout the whole process from start to finish.. Gill is always on hand for updates and reassurance when needed and Brenda who deals with lettings is an asset to the company and helped my son achieve his first “ independent” home... I've known Jeanne and Brenda for a good many years and their service as a company is second to none. They have assisted in tenant finds and management of several of my properties and I can honestly say that no other company compares to them.
