Don't rent! Don’t rent! Don’t rent a house with this agency! You struggle to get your deposit back! They don’t have any reason to keep my deposit, landlord has accepted 1 month ago that was no problem with the property and they are not giving my deposit back! Worst agency to deal with. They send unlicensed workers to "fix" any problems that we had in the house. We had a damp, mould smell in the house. After one year they send the same workers to get rid of the mould smell. They put some chemicals under the house, and they broke by mistake a gas pipe. The workers said that they put chemicals from mould, but it was for bugs!! So we stayed two weeks in that toxic smell with our windows opened in the middle of the winter. And 4 days with the gas leak because the workers said that the smell was from the chemicals...The same workers "repair" everything: mould, paint, central heating, electricity, doors, cutting the grass..If you ask for a licence, nobody has one. So be very careful, because they can put your life at risk, as it happened with the gas pipe. Whenever you have a problem with the house, send emails and take photos. Take legal action when is necessary. Don't wait like us for nothing good to happen and to get sick.... Read more

The worst agency we ever delt with as tenants. Everytime we had a problem, like the boiler failing or leaking roof, it would take may days and countless emails and calls before anything got done. At the moment we have a boiler broken for 4 days and still not resolved! We resorted to heating up water in the cooker just to wash ourselves! Disgusting lack of customer service... Read more

An absolute joke of a company and a waste of time. I'd steer clear of these crooks who've decided to collect a full year's worth of agents commission without my knowledge. To make matters worse the tenant they had introduced hadn't paid a penny in rent since moving in - Yet the company sees it fit to charge a full year's worth of agent fees that it refuses to refund - Off to the Property Ombudsman it is - Landlords stay away.... Great service from Blue Ocean. I work unusual hours due to being self employed and get free time at random points in the day. They knew I was really desperate in my search for a rental property and went out of their way to make sure they could fit me in on short notice and also in the evening, way past normal working hours. Negotiated with landlord with ease and got bits of work done to property that I asked for. Hassle free process and kept up to date all the way through.. I was let down by this agency. I wanted to view a property, told them that I cannot do viewings during the week, as I am working in the city, and in the evening looking after my kids. Also, on weekends I have certain commitments which I have to attend to. The first appointment was made on a Saturday afternoon, but then a day later I was notified they cannot make it, and pressed again for during the week. I was able to get some time on a Friday morning, and left them a voice message, but they never came back to me. More than a week no sign from them, but then got a call: Made a new appointment on Saturday. On that Saturday they gave me a call 10 minutes before the appointment, which I missed as I was driving. I called them back, when I was on time (!) in front the property. They told me that they are already 15 minutes away from the property, because they were not able to reach me 10 minutes ago, so they went to another appointment! Told them I am not interested anymore. I normally try to support smaller companies over the big ones, but - as they advertise the property too - I have to go to Foxtons. If Blue Ocean Property cannot provide basic customer service, and are not able to commit to agreed appointment, they will have to loose their customers.... Read more

Just to start with I never leave reviews unless positive, but feel very passionately that others should know of our terrible experience with Blue Ocean in the hope it helps others not to have to go through the same ordeal as we had to. We are so happy to never have to deal with Blue Ocean again. It took us 4 months to get our deposit back - constantly negligent during our tenancy (no hot water for the first month and moved in with a broken washing machine - always had to chase for an answer). Not only are they incredibly unprofessional, they are liars and negligent. The unprofessional-ism begins in the lack of communication to the deceit to us and our landlord who decided it was best to let them go as an agency. When confronted with a problem, i.e no hot water, they would send their own 'engineers' who hadn't a clue and fed the landlord false information regarding the price and time of the supposedly 'professional' visit, it wasn't until our landlord got directly involved for the problem to be resolved when a true professional solved the issue. This led to a more direct involvement with us and the landlord at which they discovered that Blue Ocean were not only lying to her about the time of the payment but also many more things including amount of rent paid, us supposedly paying it late (which cant happen with a standing order) to just about everything else. As for the deposit, we only got this back after getting the deposit scheme and the Property Ombudsmen involved from both our end and our landlord did we receive it back 4 months after and we know we are not the only ones to have had this problem. We don't know how they're still trading as a business but please, from one tenant to another, avoid this company at all costs.... Read more

I didn't go to this local agent first. I tried one of the more mainstream ones close by. WHAT A MISTAKE! After this mainstream agent told me they could achieve 15% more than what Blue Ocean suggested, and marketing it at that price, 2 weeks into it they suggested the asking price be lowered by 50k! Not only that, they managed 1 offer in 2 months of marketing at 75k less than asking! They considered that a success! Went straight to Blue Ocean and got a candid view on the property value. They marketed it very well and even achieved a higher amount than what I originally thought possible. Staff are friendly and honest which is what you want in an agent. I should have gone to them first, but I learned from my error. Don't make the same mistake! No matter what other national estate agents tell you, the local ones know the market better and don't bamboozle you with inflated targets.... Read more
