My husband and I have recently moved into the area and right from the start of our property search to completion day, Garry, Jan & Jeanette in the Chatteris office were so helpful and supportive. Nothing was too much trouble for them and on completion day they even invited us (including the dog) into the office to wait as there was a delay from solicitors and made us tea. We recently changed management agency and Tracie and the Team at Ellis Winter have been absolutely brilliant, a breath of fresh air after years with a big name provider who lacked any personal service. From our first contact, I’ve been impressed with quick responses to questions and proactive actions by Tracie to get the property rented. She has provide sound advice and arranged for works to take place quickly and to a high standard.
The property portal is an excellent facility too, providing easy and quick visibility on the property rental. So far, there have been no hidden costs either, with searches in the prospective tenant and their guarantor. A 5star service and I hope it continues.

I recently sold a house in doddington through Ellis Winters.
Garry was a star with selling the property . I had given up after the house had previously been on the market with 2 other estate agents and I wasn’t getting the viewings or feedback. However when Ellis Winters took the house on I had regular viewings and always received feedback . Garry worked with us to appeal the property to the right kind of buyer and found someone that fell in love with house for the same reason I did when I originally brought it .
During the process leading up to exchange there was some hold ups due to the house I was buying . Jan was great chasing up my solicitors. The only thing I would do differently next time is possibly use different solicitors rather than the recommended one as I felt the solicitor communication was a bit vague at time.
But overall I would recommend Ellis Winter’s especially if you have a house that has been stuck on the market for some time . Thanks all

This year Ellis Winters in Chatteris have sold two houses for me. With both they provided strong valuations, actively marketed the properties and conducted several viewings on my behalf. They gave their opinion on offers received and when the right offer was presented they acted quickly and professionally with the administration involved. I found everyone who works there very friendly, easy to talk to and happy to help. I received regular updates via email and phone and both sales went through very smoothly, showing that the right purchaser had been found. I would not hesitate to recommend them and if I need to use an estate agent again, they will be my first point of call.

We had been trying to sell the property for over a year before contacting Ellis Winters. The first local agent we engaged managed to get 6 viewings in the first month, no offers and no further viewings in following 2 months. We then tried a national agent offering a quick turnaround, 1 viewing in 3 months no offers. We then tried auction route listed it twice but reserve not met.
When we met Jeannette at Ellis Winters she was immediately on board, very enthusiastic an convinced they could sell the house. In 3 weeks we had 8 or 9 viewings, one 2nd viewing and an offer which now progressing through to completion.

Arranged to view a property in Chatteris.
Despite asking relevant questions pre visit it was revealed to us that that particular property has public assess through the back of the garden.
Property itself looked extreamly small compared to the pictures advertised online also.
It was also made clear I had taken time out of work to view this property and had to take 3 children with me in order to view but despite this was left in the dark regards public assess to the rear until we arrived.
Won't be using this estate agent in the future and would not recommend to anybody.

While it is undoubtedly true that various members of the staff may have played contributory roles in my pursuit of acquiring my house, it was, I must assert, Mr. Thompson who constituted my initial and foremost point of contact, maintaining regular correspondence throughout the entire endeavour.
I encountered no impediments whatsoever concerning the processes involved.
Garry's demeanour was characterized by professionalism and unrivalled assistance; he exhibited remarkable alacrity in responding to both phone calls and emails, facilitating the progression of the procedure.
Moreover, he graciously rearranged his own schedule to align with my temporal requirements.
Consequently, the entire undertaking unfolded with remarkable smoothness and efficiency, culminating in the joyous reality of my residence in a home of my own, for which I owe immense gratitude to Garry.

While renting the lettings team were professional and responsive and helped resolve any issues as soon as they could.
My purchase process was quite lengthy, through no fault of anyone, but both sides of the team were very helpful throughout, keeping me updated as things moved along and were always happy to answer any questions in a way I could properly understand and offered support regarding the whole process, which let the process move as smoothly as possible and was much needed and appreciated as a first time buyer. We’ve had an awful experience with this estate agent. Throughout the process, we were misled multiple times, there was a clear conflict of interest with the buyer they arranged for us. They were well-known to the staff, and pulled out of the sale on exchange day, leaving us stranded. Since the sale fell through, communication has been non-existent. Staff members who were initially in contact with us (like Jan & Janette) stopped responding, and we were passed to Garry, who has been condescending and fraught with broken promises. Instead of trying to help resolve the situation, he’s pressured us to drop the price, and his advice feels untrustworthy.
They've given us false information about potential buyers. E.g. one supposed first time buyer put in an offer before they had sold their house. Another was labelled as an “investor” but repeatedly cancelled viewings at weekends, robbing us of valuable time to get our belongings in storage, then later asking for the name of this supposed "investor", clearly the whole thing was a lie, if they don't know their name! They have broken GDPR by forwarding email chains containing private buyer and seller information. This is highly unprofessional and concerning.
Adding insult to injury, Garry threw us under the bus with our sellers. While we were scrambling to figure out what was happening with our sale our sellers estate agent called Garry, who informed them “he was not at liberty to discuss our sale”. The estate agent obviously found this concerning and rang us immediately. This forced us into a difficult situation, explaining the mess that Ellis Winters had created and putting our purchase at serious risk. Ellis Winters continue to drag their heels at every opportunity. After all this, we’ve now decided to employ another estate agent.
When we wanted to cancel the contract, they didn’t have the decency to let us keep the listing photos, despite the clear conflict of interest and the financial loss they caused us. We expected this to be a gesture of goodwill, but instead, we now have to prepare our already-packed-up house for new photos in winter, yet another example of how unhelpful they have been throughout this entire process.
Their mishandling of our sale has caused us significant financial loss, forcing us to restart the sale process from scratch and put our belongings in storage, and delayed our ability to get our child into the 2025 school intake, which has added unnecessary stress and disappointment.
When we tried to get clarity about why the buyer pulled out, we were scorned for contacting her directly. However, this was the only way we learned the truth—that she had found another property. The agency had been dishonest with us, hiding key details, and their behaviour suggests a pattern of deception. They told us "everything is fine" right up until the buyer pulled out.
Their staff’s attitude has been unprofessional throughout. Jan & Janette started out friendly but became unavailable once issues arose. Garry, who took over, has been condescending, and prone to giving excuses rather than solutions. Viewings have been poorly organized, often involving staff showing up at the last minute or sending someone unfamiliar with the property, meaning we'd have to show the estate agent around, this happened several times.
We chose this agent because they had sold the property before, so we expected them to have a strong understanding of it and to make the process easier. Unfortunately, they completely failed to meet these expectations. They prioritized their personal relationships over their professional duty to us as their clients, despite initially promising they "work for us."
In summary, I strongly advise against using this estate agent. They are unprofessional, untrustworthy, and only seem to care about their own connections and interests. Unless you are a well-known local with personal ties to the staff, you’re unlikely to receive fair or reliable treatment. Do yourself a favour and go with a more established and professional agency that puts their clients first.

Rodent issues in the kitchen not sorted for over 2 months… Until we threatened not to pay the rent.
Toilets didn’t flush properly for the entirety of the tenancy.
Black mould build-up in most rooms. We were told we had to wipe the walls down every other day. Ridiculous

Very happy with Ellis Winters Estate Agents - Chatteris who really went out of their way to provide an A1 responsive service, by advising, liaison between solicitors, purchaser and checking correspondence including despatch. They also visited my empty property to check it over. Just an amazing professional service and if they were in the Olympics, they would win a gold medal. The cost was also very competitive and I would recommend Ellis Winters to anyone who is thinking of selling their property.

Ellis Winters have made the whole selling and buying journey alot less stressful than what it could have been. They have been professional from start to finish. I must admit that this appears to be a late response, however due to the Covid 19 lockdowns etc it has been a 'challenging' (god i'm sick of that word now) period for moving house.
Carpets and furniture should arrive by March 2021!!
We would like to thank all at Ellis Winters (Chatteris) for their help and understanding over the months of delays etc.
I must also thank Ms. Jan Townsend who took us under her wing virtually from the start in late Spring. Her unremitting efforts - chasing solicitors, placating the seller through a very rough period when so many restrictions were making house sales and purchases a nightmare.
And finally to get us into the dwelling we we were so desperate to move to in Chatteris. The lady was a diamond.
Thanks again to the gang and may 2021 be a change for the best for us all.

I have recently completed on a purchase of a property that was sold by Ellis Winters of Chatteris. I have nothing but good things to say about everybody that i dealt with throughout the purchase. We had lots of delays throughout the process and the team at the office were always very accommodating in dealing with my queries. My initial viewing was with Jeanette and not being familiar with the area Jeanette gave me lots of information about the local area and the people that reside in the town.
My main point contact during the purchase was Jan, who was very helpful and went above and beyond to help me out on a number of occasions. All the team were very friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend using these estate agents.

However, after the first few weeks we had to chase them and once COVID kicked in the service we received from sales was poor. We got an offer just before we were plannign to move to another estate agent, and support while completign the sale process was oaky

We viewed several properties with this company (and others), before finding our dream home. The service we received (and I must add particular thanks to Jan and Caroline) was professional, knowledgeable and passionate about the houses they had listed.
Buying a new house during a global Covid-19 pandemic probably wasn't our wisest decision, however the communication we received during the process of buying right through to collecting the keys to our new home was faultless.

From very first meeting always felt connected and in safe secure hands. Hense the choice of agent.
Constantly updated regarding viewings and followed up in full with responses from potential buyers.
Once sold again agent guided us with suggestions on solicitors etc.
If needed correspondence printing they were always helpful, even going the extra mile by delivering and popping through letterbox, as they new we were trying to help mum with her relocation needs.
Havnt completed on sale as yet but still
Excellent agents throughout, regardless of who we spoke with at the Chatteris branch. All have been exceptional in their willingness to help however they can.

From the first meeting with Jeanette, I knew we would be using Ellis Winters for the sale of my parents property. Out of the three agents we invited to inspect and quote, two gave us a good feeling and the third did not!
What tipped us to Ellis Winters was the incredibly personable nature of everyone we dealt with from initial contact and, the definite understanding that the sale would have to be carried out from a distance for us as we needed to get my parents moved closer to us (over 80 miles from sale location) immediately.
That process was hard enough but Jeanette and Jan both put themselves out time and time again to facilitate everything.
They took time to make my parents feel comfortable and offered to pop round and help with any paperwork in the short term to avoid the need for me travel for every decision/discussion.
As a family business ourselves, family values and respect for clients is at the core of what we do and it is clear that Ellis Winters share and exhibit those same values - no hesitation in recommending them and, they earned every penny of their commission (slightly higher than other agent we could have gone with but way less than the agent we did not warm to).
Truly grateful to them on behalf of my parents and our family!

I cannot stress enough how useless the old women at Ellis winters in Chatteris were.
we viewed a property and decided that we would like to rent it, at first glance the property looked in acceptable condition, it still had tenants when we looked around so we assumed it would have a clean before we moved in. We didn’t have a lot of time to move so maybe we were a bit hasty in taking this property on. On the day we moved in the smell of smoke hit us as soon as we walked in and the place was filthy. We didn’t have nowhere else to go so decided that we would clean the place up and give it a good airing. When we viewed the house, we smelt a strong smell of air freshener, I imagine that was to mask the smell of smoke and the previous tenants had all of their stuff there so we couldn’t see how filthy it was. I made a complaint to Ellis Winters straight away, and whilst they had previously seemed nice, they became very frosty and didn’t want to hear or deal with our complaint. I persisted and they came round a week later to tell us that the place smelt lovely and was perfectly clean. Ellis winters told us the landlord just wanted his money monthly and wasn’t interested in bringing the place up to standard. My babies and boyfriend all started coughing and that’s when we decided that we couldn’t stay any longer and got another place to live. It has cost us lots of money. Please beware of this lot. They are only interested in taking the money and have absolutely no duty of care to their tenants

I have nothing but praise for the level of professional expertise I have received by the Chatteris Ellis Winters team on putting our first home up for sale. I found them prompt, efficient, contactable by phone and e-mail without issue. My case became particularly difficult at a late stage of the chain. Ellis Winters helped with all aspects of achieving the sale and gave impartial advice in moving my case forward. Without them I think we might have lost the chain and the house we had thought so hard to achieve.
I would like to personal thank Katie Kupyn for all her above and beyond help in getting our chain completed. The level of personal service you gave even outside of office hours at points during the sale/purchase was absolutely fantastic, we can't thank you enough.
I would also like to thank Jeanette Duggan for the fabulous photos taken of our home and the impartial advice given to how to place our property on the market including placing us in contact with trusted parties for financial and surveying requirements.
