Just received a cold call from this company this morning, claiming that they had a text from me at the beginning of January, asking for a valuation for my property. I told the man on the phone I hadn't sent a text and he said I did. I told him I would not want a valuation because I do not own my property at which point he hung up.
I can only assume they are cold calling people who may originally have been on their books years ago to try to get some business.
I would like to have put 0 stars, but it won't let me post with 0 stars.

Not very cooperative, hide contract clauses and use that later for their own benefit. Worst agent I have ever known. Especially in terms of returning your deposit. Thank God there always a third party involve, otherwise they would have not returned a single penny back of mine. Took 45 days rent extra, which is approx 1300.

We rented a property from Martin&Co and were tenants for over three years, with no issues ever raised whilst living in the property. Six-monthly tenancy checks were completed, and nothing ever came back from these.
However we are disgusted with the way they have handled our deposit return, claiming near on £400 for ‘cleaning’ despite us spending hours at the property cleaning, and the real kicker was £850 for ‘redecoration’, despite the fact the property was left in near-on the same condition as when we moved in, just with usual wear and tear where we had hung pictures on the wall and filled the holes.
The quote sent over by the landlord was very inconsistent, with the alleged business at the top not registered with the address or individual named. In fact, the address actually flagged as being registered with the landlords own business, which we thought was convenient…
Our property manager was incredibly unhelpful, instead choosing to raise minor issues that again, were never raised whilst we lived at the property.
Judging by the reviews, it seems that if you’re selling/buying, or a landlord, then Martin&Co will give you top-tier service. If you’re a tenant looking to rent, I’d stay well away.

In the space of one week we find the perfect place. Leah was very proactive and available with us, we felt really informed throughout the process.
Leah was kind enough to organize a second viewing to take some measurements and in general she was always positive and found all the answers and information we needed.
They partner with legalforlandlords for references and they also helped and contacted when certain things were missing so that everything could be submitted on time.
I genuinely feel this has been the easiest thing to do and that's a massive plus considering how difficult it can be with renting these days.

The worst estate agent I have dealt with in 20 years. First, I was pushed out of the flat after three years of renting because they refused to add a six-month break clause while renewing the contract, as we had done in previous occasions, and instead they asked for a 12-month break clause. Obviously, they then put the property in the market for £175 more a month, an increase that they could have not put forward with me as a tenant. Second, they kept £350 from my deposit for cleaning a one-bedroom flat that was already cleaned. They were intransigent, rude, aggressive, and acted like thugs. The goverment should really keep an eye on how estate agents such a Martin & Co in its Bournemouth branch operate.

Guys, Please stay away from this estate agent. They talk nicely when you come for lettings and if you want to end the tenancy, then you are gone. Forget about your deposit and they also have practice of 2 years rental agreement and they give 500 pages of booklet to sign and by the time we read and sign, you would exhaust and i had to pay 3 months rental even if you give 2 months notice upfront. So please stay away from this greedy agent.

Myself and my Partner are renting our first property and we could not have done it without Samantha Cunningham. She has been extremely helpful throughout the whole process and made sure we knew about everything as it is our first time renting. She did not get annoyed once about all of my calls and emails that I made to track the progress ,what things are needed from us and all of my questions. We smoothly went through the whole process in a week of viewing the property. When we went to our viewing she was extremely helpful and gave everything in detail, there was one issue with the Blinds however she has made sure that it was sorted for us. She even went to the effort of arranging us to view the property again a week before we moved in so we could properly measure things and get a good idea of the organisation ideas we have. We found this very welcoming due to a viewing we had with a different estate agent was very unwelcoming and she was very rude and was not helpful so it was amazing to come to Martin & Co and have this experience.

We worked with Martin &Co for about a month during which the agents helped us find our new home. The agency is highly professional, responsive and actually cares (not something I could say about many agencies we dealt with before).
Even after we initially said no, they kept in touch and tried to find an alternative for us which they did.
Claudio, our main point of contact made the effort several times to visit the same property and provide additional details. Communication with him has been a great experience. In the end they helped us find an absolutely incredible apartment for a fair price.
What we really appreciated is that the agency actually cares about the client and their reputation and it's not just about overselling someone an overpriced apartment as you would get in London.
During move in they have been helpful, responsive and have promptly tended to all our questions.
Would highly recommend anyone looking for their new home in Bournemouth and surrounding area to give them a try.
We also appreciated that each house has a separate YouTube video, that's not common on this market and is a nice professional touch.

Save yourself the trouble and find another estate agent, one of the staff was incredibly rude displaying abusive language towards my self and others. Accused me of being a liar despite having 5 whitenesses who heard exactly what was said and also threatened me as I was walking out the door as I will not just stand there and take being shouted at by basically a stranger. Unprofessional, all the other staff are lovely though but there’s always one // ADDITION: furthermore the manager of this ‘professional’ company tried to charge me £300 extra for rent I had already paid for. Despite being the most disrespectful, unprofessional person I have ever come across in my life. Just don’t bother at all. The following morning I received a call from the agents asking why I had wrote the bad review asking me to remove it to which I declined.
Later I received an email accusing me of being frustrated and sarcastic to their schoolboy doing work experience which is complete rubbish!
This poor schoolboy should not have been answering calls having no experience of answering questions relating to multi million pound businesses.

They supply a great service managing my tenants.
They are responsive and deal very professionally with all aspects of letting and property maintenance on my behalf as a landlord.
They do regular property reviews and supply photographs of all parts of a property and recommend any works needed to keep the properties in good repair.
They vet new tenants, seek references and offer a full contract service . I am pleased with their personal and approachable manner.

Having sold my house, I am currently looking for a rental property whilst trying to find another house to purchase. I have been dealing with lots of different letting agents during the process and I must admit that Martin & Co in Southbourne have been particularly helpful.
Kieran Day has been my contact and he has been amazing. He keeps in regular contact and sends me properties which might be suitable. He is also very friendly and understanding as well, with a great customer focus. With a lot of other agents, they never get back to me after I have contacted the office or never answer my queries so Kieran is far the best lettings agent I have dealt with.
If I was a landlord, I would definitely use this agency to market my properties!

I have completed a purchase of a property through Martin and Co and although the sale took a bit longer than I thought that was simply due to the Covid Restrictions and Seller
I had a great service with Philip who kept me informed throughout ...very jovial character and great to do business with
Kieran Day was also a credit to the company as he was very jolly and chatty and could not do enough to help
I imagine Kieran will do far in the business as extremely smart and a lovely guy

Phil and his team are second to none. 5* to Kieron who was really pleasant and professional at his job.He showed us around the property and dealt with our offer promptly. He even worked on Sunday, to get the ball rolling, which was much appreciated.
We met Phil the Manager a few times and when we told him our son was looking for a property in the area, he found the perfect property. I usually don’t like to write a review. I own a business and don’t like when people are complaining unreasonable, But my experience with Martin & Co made me write one. I was in a 12 month tenancy agreement and i wanted to move out from the property before the end of my tenancy,. I was happy to pay the release fee which was £360. I paid the fee and they had 5 months time to relet the property. They put it on the market, they had lots of viewings ( more than 20). But they didn’t give it to anyone, why? My tenancy agreement ended 5 months after paying the release fee. The flat was let by another letting agency straight after I left it. So i was charged £360 for nothing and they put me in a stressful situation. My only concern is why they couldn’t let it again in that long time while the other agency did it within 2 weeks for the same price.

Currently undergoing a horrendous end-of-tenancy nightmare with this branch. They were extremely welcoming at the start of the tenancy.
Then less than two years in, they announced, cheerily, via an unexpected phonecall, that the house was up for sale, giving us less than two months to find a new place, no help finding an alternative, and all they want to do is quibble about exactly how much money I owe them! They know we have a small baby, and they do not care. I have rented in three countries. These are THE worst. Beware!!

Just rented a flat from Martin and co in Bournemouth and they helped make the whole thing much easier. Holly was very lovely and worked hard to get viewings to suit my schedule and Mike was very friendly and helpful when it came to handing over the keys - unfortunately once I moved in my experience changed. They started being useless at getting back to me and I've had to chase them on numerous occasions. I also feel charging £24 referencing fee for effectively 20 mins work is disgusting, especially after already paying a substantial amount to a new estate agents in order to move. It was even more frustrating having to pay the fee after learning that the new estate agents don't charge their tenants and it appears that different branches of Martin and Co also don't charge a referencing fee. Furthermore, I was shocked to see such differences in charges between branches of Martin and Co with Bournemouth charging significantly more. This has definitely put me off ever dealing with them again in the future.

In nearly 9 years of privately renting in Bournemouth I’ve never felt so safe in trusting Martin & Co Bournemouth team. I had my first experience with the office briefly in 2012 and again in 2016. Each member of the team will always help with anything, regardless of the individuals role - I’ve always been treated with such respect, all very helpful, personable and with a touch of humour. When needing to report any issues with my property, always been such a rapid response and excellent communication to keep me informed every step of the way.
I’ve not had all of the qualities you require from a letting agent in any others except these guys - and I’ve moved around a lot. To feel safe in how your property is being managed and safeguarded that you’re not being exploited through an agent or private lettings is rare but you can feel totally at ease with these.
At the beginning careful explanation given to go through the important documents to ensure fully informed and understanding the fees etc (which are so reasonable compared to most other agents in the area..) and I wouldn’t recommend any others than this agent and team.
You all do an amazing job and thank you for making it so easy to be a relaxed tenant.

AVOID!! I am totally shocked how Martin & Co manage residential properties and conduct their business as a 'supposedly' professional letting agent. Spoke to the Derby office and was addressed with 'Yeah, yeah' over the phone by Jordan? Asked to speak to the manager and was informed there is no management available as away until 27 September 2016.
Then called Martin & Co Head Office in Bournemouth and spoke to 'Hollie' (Holly) who informed me that she was the Lettings Coordinator and proudly explained "I'm in charge of EVERYTHING!!"
Yet when the very first question was asked of her, which was is Martin & Co a member of ARLA (Association of Residential Letting Agents)?, she never had a clue what I meant or was talking about!
She (Hollie) then directed me to her manager Hannah who rather conveniently was suddenly not available.
Third call and emails sent to a Mr Tony Moore at the Milton Keynes office was met with similar unprofessional and totally unexpected responses. When asked a number of questions, Mr Moore who claims to be the managing director of the Milton Keynes branch refused totally to answer any questions and to my shock and absolute horror took it upon himself to declare that he didn't feel confident enough to take on my properties as he didn't feel Martin & Co, in particular his branch, could be able to meet my expectations as a private Landlord and Property Investor. Unbelievable!
How can an alleged 'professional' company state through its own self admission that they do not feel they are up to the job?
I intend to submit my findings to my local MP in the hope that new legislation can be brought in to the Housing Act 1988 that filters out and removes these rogue letting agents from our high streets.
Take my strong advice, together with the advice of others, and avoid Martin & Co. Look elsewhere.

Worst letting I've ever agreed with a letting agency charging you ridiculous fees for documents and "doing something" and then, once you actually become a tenant, they don't bother of looking after you, being always after the Landlord and leaving the tenant unprotected.
Lots of mistakes on the Check-In inventory. Stay very well away from these people.
I will urge anyone who's got an issue to always take a lot of pictures of everything before walking inside the property and leaving it. I was lucky to save the 95% of my deposit because of my own knowledge of how despicable this people do operate.
Even if it took long to have the deposit back the adjudicator decided on my side, after all the mistakes made and an abusive landlord who tried to get almost 700£ as deposit.
