Afzaal Hussain (Afy) handled the sale of our house in Hopefield Road in Leicester. He was very professional and helpful throughout. He gave a good, realistic valuation and had a buyer for us within a week. He has always answered any queries promptly and has liaised with the buyers solicitors to make sure things stayed on track. The house sale has finally completed and Afy phoned to arrange our final meter readings and mail forwarding and to make sure there was nothing else required. A true gentleman.

Board went up on a property on the Monday afternoon, I called lady took details for me to view because her colleague was there on Thursday. Arranged to visit and took all my details advised we are prepared to put offer in. Lady said actually we can do Tuesday i.e. next day...Tueaday morning I get a call vendor accepted an offer last week in writing...even before it went on market. It's clear staff do not talk to each other and clearly doesn't want to consider best prices for the vendor. Very disappointed in standard of service from Martin and Co. I was prepared to go above and beyond the asking price...their loss! Vendor lost out...

Avoid renting with them.
Immersion in the water tank broke down and Martin & Co send a technician that after couple of visits did not fix it. I warned Martin & Co that if the boiler were to break down (is an old one), I would have no hot water, but they disregard my email. 4 weeks after that the boiler broke down. I told them there is no hot water in the apartment but after a week they have done nothing and I am still with no hot water. When I meal them they reply with excuses saying they are tracking down the contractors to get an estimate or that they have contacted the landlord but got an out of office reply.
Avoid Martin & Co at all cost, they don't care about you they just care about not upsetting the landlord.

I’ve had an exceptional experience renting a flat with Martin & Co. They stand out for their consistent professionalism and helpfulness. Every interaction with them was smooth, and they were always quick to respond and resolve any concerns.
Problem with the laundry machine? A technician who fixed it was present at my flat the day after I reported an issue.
Problem with the oven? They have ordered a new one.
Problem with the water cylinder? Technician was at my place a day after the report.
My relationship with them has been the best I’ve experienced with any agency.
It’s unfortunate that their flats are in such high demand; I was eager to continue renting through them but couldn’t secure another property due to their quick turnover.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for a reliable and efficient estate agency.

I’ve got a viewing appointment at 16:30 and received a call on 16:29 saying the tenants hasn’t allowed the viewing for today abd they are very sorry for the short notice and the inconvenience and as a compensation they will arrange a viewing for the next day. On the next day, on my way for the viewing, I called them to double check for the viewing when they told me the property has been gone.

I bought a flat in Leicester in 2004 and discovered that two neighbouring flats were being let by Martin & Co and was impressed by a number of things which my neighbours reported. So when I came to let my own flat in 2008 I knew that I was wanting to work with Martin & Co.
Lettings has been very good, keeping the flat consistently occupied during that time with good communication both proactively and reactively. The sale has been a long time in coming but again, the staff were helpful, kept me fully informed continued to push things along when they were slow. Maybe I shouldn't say this, but given the amount of work they did for me their fee seems rather low!
I'm currently renting out another property, again using Martin & Co in a different part of the country. Strongly recommend them for both lettings and sales, very pleased to have worked with them over this time, whilst delighted with the sale, slightly sad that the 13 year relationship has now come to an end! Thank you, Martin & Co, much appreciate all your help.

I paid £150 deposit to rent a flat and I was rejected 5 minutes after I sent my documents, losing my money and they didn't even want to email me the receipt... just received a phone call saying that I was refused and that's it... easy money. I would advice to not pay any money to them until you didn't sign the rent agreement with them. Now I also receive all sorts of emails and phone calls from insurance companies. I didn't agree for them to forward my personal details to some random online insurance company... what this letting agency does to people is not legal! Stay clear!!!

By far the worst estate agents I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with.
From day 1 they were terrible - they arranged a meeting to sign rental agreements and pick up keys etc.
When I got there ready to collect my keys and move in - they had nothing ready.
After moving in I reported numerous issues with the property that just fell on deaf ears.
Either they claimed the issues we're fixed or blamed the landlord.
Imagine paying £700 per month in rent and not having hot water for almost 2 months..... they don't have a single care in the world about tenents they rent too.

From my personal experience I do not recommend it. They tell u something over the phone and by email they say something else. My issues with them as follow: 1. We have suffered from many sales viewing for more than 4 months and at the of the day the property was unsold until the last day we left the property which was really annoying for us as a tenant. 2. We have been told over the phone that we can give out the keys earlier than the end of the contract and they will provide us with the checkout report ASAP. However, when we gave out the keys they said that we have to wait couple of weeks until the contracts ends!!!. And when the contract ended they lasted another 5 or 6 days to issue the report. It was one of the worst experiences I have ever seen. 3. One day I was on a holiday. I received an email saying that there will be an inspection and they need access and when I granted them the access no body turned up. When I spoke to them when I am back from my holiday about the last inspection they said we do not know who asked for the access. If they don’t know who sent the email and why they need access who is supposed to know then???. In my view this agent does not work for the tenant interest. So I don’t recommend it at all. This is my own view and I hope they respect it.

Martin & Co Leicester have managed our flat for a number of years now and they have always been professional, supportive and have delivered a high level of service to both our tenants and us as the landlords. They gave us expert advise when a tenant refused to pay the rent (for no valid reason) and we had to take the tenant to court.
They have recently sold the flat for us and we cannot thank them enough, especially Afy the Manager who went the extra mile during the sale process. He kept us informed at all times and was able to make process less painful by liaising between the various parties.

Martin & Co are excellent. We've lived in a property since 2015 and we've had several issues including faulty wiring, plumbing and heating - however when we reported these they were quick to get back to us and have always tried to keep us in the loop. Their gas contractor for Leicestershire is great and we've never been kept waiting by them.
It's worth noting if you rent from here that the landlord, not Martin & Co, are responsible for okaying repairs and maintenance - something I think Martin & Co could do with stressing more on sign-up, as they're letting themselves in for bad feedback which should really be laid at the door of the landlord.
Overall, a good place to rent from, I just wish they had a bit more power to control the landlords who use them
Compliments to their property management team and Marianne, their managing director, who took the time to personally respond to a complaint I made about the landlord and seems genuinely concerned about the issues.
Updated 30/1/2020 - moved to 5 Stars as Martin & Co have been very considerate in following up a complaint we've made about the landlord and are extremely dedicated in helping us resolve an issue with ongoing repairs. Can't recommend them enough based on this experience

Worse phone call ever sent an enquiry to view a property and just because i had a baby less then 3 months ago and I'm not on maternity leave she goes they wont even accept a guarantor as theres no guaranteed wage even after me explaining that im going back to work and so is my husband in full time positions. Constantly cancelling viewings try elsewhere first
Theres no system in place if my veiwing had been in the morning like I'd asked I would have had the property and put down a deposit but I was placed last
Considering I had a veiwing at that same property a few weeks earlier and the same thing happened I though I was lucky because it came back on the market
On tip of that I had a text and email and a phone call all confirming the veiwing and then 2 phone calls after just to make sure I knew my veiwing was cancelled ( rubbing salt in the wound)
They really need to take a step back and look at there system because it's very unfair
your best off finding a different agency to rent with

I called them to ask if small pets are allowed in 2 rental properties I am interested in, instead of checking with the landlords to confirm, the staff who picked up the call was just making guesses on if pets would be allowed and said they would ask the landlord after viewing and application, not considering that I have already told them I am based on the Wirral which means it would cost me 8 hours for the round trips and train tickets to get there possibly viewing properties that would not be available to me in the first place. And after clarifying that repeatedly, the staff was still very reluctant to check but finally agreed to do so.

The worst experience of a lifetime! They are only concerned of protecting the landlords interest! If you ever buy or rent a property please be aware there will always be the fine print....invisible print I should say as our contract had no mention of any of the things that were thrown at us after we asked for an early release from tenancy!
The agents don't really answer the question directly...most unprofessional! ...they just rattle out the clauses repetitively....not helpful at all.
So protect your ineterst...read your contract carefully....dont just expect them to tell you your various options....dont make the mistake of thinking they are representing your interest as well as the landlords.....insist on any additional things like a breach clause in the agreement before you sign the document.
