We had a number of issues from the start. This generally involved factual errors e.g. wrong valuation stated in communication, wrong name. Whether one particular viewing happened was dubious as we had feedback from one member of the team but another said they couldn’t access the property (we had a key safe and the code was changed). We eventually moved estate agents to a smaller one who sold the property quickly. It then transpired that the buyer had seen the property through WH Brown some time ago (the potential buyer had asked for certain information that had not been obtained weeks later - having spoken to a member of staff, it was clear they were asking the wrong people for an answer - management company instead of landlord). We were then contacted to say that WH Brown would be completing the sale - this annoyed me as they had been poor thus far and I was concerned they would mess up again. The new estate agent who had sold it was happy to finish the sale though they would only receive 25% of the commission compared to the 75% for WH Brown.

From Nick’s initial valuation to the congratulatory phone call on completion day from Matthew, the team have been excellent throughout. Every stage was explained fully and sympathetically and any time we asked a question or for some general advice the team were only too happy to help.
Communication was excellent - the email and text alerts for viewings made it very easy to timetable, and towards exchange & completion the team were all aware of our situation and kept us informed with a timely flow of information.
Whilst moving home inevitably comes with the odd hiccup when this did occur Matthew reassured us and quickly came up with a solution to get things moving again.

Moving house is a very difficult and convoluted process but I found William Brown very understanding and patient. They talked us through each stage and were always available to talk either on the phone or if we popped in to the branch. Really excellent communication, we were never left hanging wondering what was going on and we were never made to feel a nuisance with all our concerns and questions. Ben was absolutely determined to sell our house for us and his efforts on our behalf were very evident. What a dedicated team ! During the final stages Matthew took over, dealing with solicitors and other estate agents, and it was really helpful knowing that he was working behind the scene on our behalf. There is a lot of stress involved in the process but the William Brown team take as much of the stress away as they possibly can! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

I cannot express how amazing the Hertford branch have been throughout the whole process of selling our property through to chasing up solicitors etc for both our purchase and sale. They are on the ball, organised and very proactive. We were always able to reach someone with any questions we had.
Nick has a brilliant nature. We never felt pushed or pressured into anything and trusted him completely with our sale. He also actually found our purchase which was a bonus for us.
Ben was also great with viewings and again, we never felt rushed or pressured.
Matt was just fantastic at chasing up solicitors and kept the whole chain informed. He was very proactive and did what he said.
This is not the first time we have used William H Brown and we are so happy!

Big bonus is they also allow you to manage viewings completely on your own terms, which is very important if you have an unusual home like ours in an old carriage court conversion.

The only term that I can apply to the assistant manger at this branch is EXCEPTIONAL. Nick March went above and beyond the call of duty to make a decisive intervention in a situation where the sellers solicitor had gone to ground refusing to respond to any and all request for an urgent response. His actions save the day and enabled an exchange of contracts where 24hrs earlier the transaction was about to implode.
A very knowledgeable young man , a true PROFFESSIONAL who we can recommend highly. You are in safe hands with this organisation.

This time I used them for a purchase and a sale and they were fantastic!
I found John very helpful in the process of searching for a house, he found exactly what we were looking for, and was also great with the viewings at our place.
Julia was fantastic throughout the whole process of selling our house. She really helped pushed the solicitors on every single day with our case without her doing this I don’t think we would have got there.
I also used Ricky the Morgage advisor there and he was absolutely brilliant. We had plenty of hurdles along the way to get out Morgage but with his skills and knowledge he made it happen for us.
My overall experience of William H Brown is left with no complaints and would 100% use them again, I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

I was left genuinely impressed by John and his team's patience , responsiveness professionalism and most importantly of all, work ethic with regards to a property that I was buying. I was left impressed all the way from the initial viewing right until the day that I picked up the keys once we completed. Despite my seller's chosen solicitor being quite slow (this wasn't at the recommendation of John or his team), they continued to contact the sellers directly so that they could push this deal through the stamp duty holiday. If I could give WH Brown Hertford 6 stars, I would! When we first listed, we used multiple agents however none were are good as WH Brown. They updated us weekly on the interest on our property and how the market was behaving and reassured us as we headed into a national lockdown.
They provided a steady flow of viewings and managed to get the offer we needed in excellent time despite the pandemic and a national lockdown!
Julia was amazing, she kept in touch with us every step of the way and when it comes to handling a complicated chain your definitely want Julia fighting your corner! She went above and beyond her role and her working hours to make the exchange happen, I cannot recommend her enough.

My wife and I have chosen Julia at William H Brown due to her professionalism, knowledge of the market, service and how she marketed our home to maximise its selling potential. We reviewed other agents in the Hertford area and although they were well established, we didn’t feel they offered the same service as Julia and were not attentive to maximising our home and it’s features to increase its selling potential.
We are really glad with our decision and would not hesitate to recommend Julia and the team.

0 stars if I could. Brought a house with them last year. I was constantly ringing them for updates and always promised a phonecall back which never came. I ended up getting the phone number from the people who’s house we were buying in order to get any information on the sale as William H Brown were useless. They gave the couple we were buying from the run around too, not passing on our messages either. Very unhappy with their service and I would not recommend.

I had a protracted house-move into newbuild because of legal problems with the original developer's insufficient certification. Through a frustrating time Julia at the branch communicated in a clear way and I very much felt was doing as much as possible to help. ABSOLUTE WASTE OF TIME, UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE. DO NOT USE. I had the displeasure of dealing with John Noakes and Julia Bartsch in a transaction. Both of these "professionals" were exactly the opposite. They were bullish, incompetent and above all clueless and made what is an already stressful experience so much worse. Instead of facilitating the discussion between buyer and seller, they were the worst type of obstacle. Not only did I have to repeat each and every bit of information to them, both via phone and in writing, I also had to deal with vendors / buyers who were completely unreasonable, made worse by two worthless middlemen. I would NOT recommend this service to any one. Do yourself a favour and instead of employing Julia and John, drag any stranger in off the street to act as your estate agent... they will probably do a much better job than those two clowns. Pitiful, and not even worth one star.

Throughout the past year my fiancée and I have been dealing with William H Brown in Hertford.
Initially I came into contact with John through telephone contact, and had various different conversations over periods of time to do with viewing of houses initially. His telephone manner I’ve always found to be extremely professional, and he is always willing to support us where possible.
John showed me round a couple of different houses, one of which we have just bought. He was extremely courteous, and very helpful with answering all questions I had at different times whilst viewing.
At different points through the purchase process we’ve had questions, and have always found John to be efficient when dealing with these queries.
Overall support we have had throughout this whole process, from William H Brown (Hertford Branch) and from John has been second to none, so much so that any future property related matters, I shall be dealing with William H Brown in Hertford and nowhere else.

Don’t waste your time... they clearly pick and choose whose offers they take and always try and link a chain with people they are representing. We called 3 times to make and offer... eventually spoke to the branch manager, Julia, who said she had a lot of work to do but legally had 24 hours to speak to the vendor to tell them about our offer! That’s the tip of the iceberg. Don’t waste agency fees on them.. absolutely the worst experience we’ve ever had.

The team at WH Brown Hertford were fantastic and extremely professional. They were energetic in getting viewings and provided prompt feedback. They had a buyer for my property within a month, which was fantastic in the current hard market conditions.
From the valuation stage, Rebecca made me feel confident that they were the right agents for me and would get me the best possible price for me. She knew the area and her market extremely well.
John was always helpful with any queries and arrangements that needed to be made.
In the period from Offer to Exchange, Julia was always on the ball, and was the crucial link between the buyer/ his solicitor and myself/ my solicitor, providing the essential, prompt & diligent follow-up that was needed to keep the process on track and moving as quickly as possible.
I would strongly recommend Julia, Rebecca, John and the whole WH Brown team at Hertford and will definitely use them again!

I made an appointment yesterday and received a confirmation email regarding a market appraiasal for today at 1pm. I had to travel 20 miles for this appointment supposedly with their Valuations Manager Rebecca Balli.
At 1.05pm I called the Hertford Office stating I was at the address waiting. I was promised a call back straightaway re. the location of the of Ms Balli. I received no call back so again I called the office, now 1.25pm and was given the same advice!
I left at about 1.30pm having not received any calls back or the confirmed visit and began my journey back home.
Two hours of time wasted and money for nothing.
If I could give them no stars I would!
