As a first-time renter, I had a lot of questions, but Connor was incredibly helpful throughout the whole process. He took the time to answer every question I had and made sure I understood each step, which made everything much less stressful.

I am extremely dissatisfied with the service I received from William H Brown in Huddersfield, and I feel other buyers need to be aware before trusting them with such an important purchase.
They completely failed to attend a confirmed property viewing, leaving my wife, baby, and me waiting in the evening with no communication and no explanation. No call. No message. No apology. For a company that deals with major life decisions like purchasing a home, this level of disorganisation is unacceptable.
Throughout the process, communication has been poor and unprofessional. Every time I called, it felt as though I had to guide them through their own responsibilities. Basic coordination and follow-up appeared to be beyond them.
What made matters worse was being pushed into booking an in-house mortgage appointment, which gave the clear impression that selling additional services was more important than actually managing viewings properly. It felt transactional rather than customer-focused.
I escalated the issue to a manager, who promised to investigate why nobody attended our viewing and assured me she would call back. She never did. Again no accountability and no apology.
Buying a home is already stressful. This branch adds unnecessary stress, wastes your time, and shows little regard for customers. Based on my experience, I would strongly advise others to think carefully before using this office.

Anne Luby has been absolutely amazing throughout the whole process, from putting in an offer on the Saturday which was on her day off and her keeping in touch to let us know it had been accepted the same day when she could have left it til the Monday. She really does go above and beyond. These guys are really conmen, crooks and cowboys. I recently rented a house through William H Brown. They told me the fee was 720 pounds. The fee was actually 918 pounds. There is no transparency here at all. They deducted the first months rent from the fee and when I overlooked paying the additional 168 they employed debt collectors. I will never use this company again.They are underhand, devious and dishonest.

I am a current tenant and after doing virtual viewing noticed that property's walls are all covered with food, furniture all soaked in water together with door to the toilet, tiles in the toilet are cracked. I contacted them and they said that properties pictures has been placed in archive a year before move in, and that they do not provide property maintenance, and landlord said that I have to sort it out and when I told him to do it he stopped answering a phone . Review based on experience with my mortgage consultant Louie Baldwin-Wood. He was great from start to finish and I had no issues whatsoever throughout the whole process. I was a FTB so basically needed someone to walk me through everything. Louie explained it all in a really easy to understand format and answered any questions I had well. Extremely unprofessional.
Today is the 4th time we were given an appointment to view and we even called in the AM to confirm...
Only to be called now to say the property is not available to view as the landlord has an emergency.
Why list the property if you cannot gain access to allow viewings?
Whenever we enquired about letting a property we were told we would receive a confirmation sms and call, we never received those and had to keep calling and following up.
Absolutely disappointing especially since we travelled all the way from Preston twice to view the properties.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME.
The estate agents do not turn up per the arranged time to viewings to show the property. This has now happened on 2 occasions. They also do not call you to make you aware that they will not attending. Avoid at all costs.
Please don't bother responding to the review as you couldn't even be bothered to call back after 2 calls.

It is quite disappointing that, despite my explicit request for you not to provide a response, you chose to fabricate a fictional narrative instead. Such behavior is regrettable and reflects poorly on your organisation.

My daughter booked a viewing to see a house - I booked off work to attend with her and no one turned up to do the show around. She complained to William H Brown - they blamed the vendor but booked her in again. 2nd time, again no one turned up. She complained again, this time in tears and they promised they would turn up instead of the vendor to do the showing if she booked again, so we both booked an hour off work to do a daytime viewing (3rd time) and again no one turned up despite the appointment being confirmed the day before. We will never ever buy or sell if William H Brown are involved. Worse than bad service. Don’t even deserve 1 star. It’s hard enough for our young people to get on the housing ladder without this kind of shabby disgusting and disrespectful treatment.

After buying my first home, I cannot recommend William H Brown and in particular Louie Baldwin-Wood as a Mortgage Advisor enough. Louie was very good at taking away a large burden of the task at hand and chasing up all parties involved when I had any questions (that probably should've gone elsewhere!) on my behalf.
Even with all the information overload that you naturally receive during the process, everything was explained in very straightforward terms with everything made clear, which as a first-time buyer was something I cannot stress the importance of enough.
Overall, what could've been a stressful and time consuming process was made to be calm and concise. I don't think it could've been made any easier for myself!

I can’t speak highly enough of Anne Luby, the mortgage advisor at Willian H Brown. After my longstanding advisor advised me that I wouldn’t be able to secure a mortgage on the property I’d fallen I love with near Huddersfield, on which I’d had my offer accepted, I was understandably devastated. Shona, the branch manager put me in contact with Anne at the Huddersfield office and she reassured me immediately that she would do her best to help. From that initial phone call when she hand-held me through my options I was more than happy to instruct her to act for me. Within a couple of days she’d presented me with a handful of mortgage providers and talked me through the pros and cons of each, giving me advice in a simple and easily understandable way, after which I chose the best lender to suit my needs and budget. Initially, I was disappointed with the advertisement of our property and found it difficult to get through to WHB on the phone to get an update. I was also disappointed that we had to do the home viewings ourselves, being a first time seller I was confused what exactly we were paying 2K for.

Well where do I start… from Tom who came to value our property ( this was our 4th valuation) to every single member of staff in the office, the whole process was amazing!
Tom was the 4th person to value our house after previously trying to sell our property with a different estate agent in 2020. As soon as Tom came though the door he was professional and such a warming person, he sold the company to me that well that we chose to use them whilst Tom was still at our property.
Tom was honest with questions we had and we felt he did a fantastic job.
From day 1 of our property going on the market we had viewings after viewings after viewings & even an open house.
The staff in the office were just superb from the get go, they made sure viewings were close together so it was convenient for us with 2 children.
We went away for a week and an accompanied viewer did our viewings, the accompanied viewer even did viewings if I wasn’t available.
I was constantly kept up to date with feedback, or second viewings and always felt like i could ring up the branch whenever I had any questions and was never made to feel like a burden.
All of the staff were lovely and helpful. A particular member of staff that stood out to me was Louie, on this particular occasion the office was supposed to shut at 4 and he rang me at 5:45 to inform me of an offer. I felt the staff always went above and beyond.
I would like to thank the whole team at W H Brown for helping us to sell our home & making it such a stress free process.

Don’t trust the valuation if you’re buying. Viewed a bungalow in Fixby a few weeks back on sale for £350,000. Last week another one that this company are selling came on the market for £525,000- £550,000!! The £350,000 was actually bigger and in a better part of the estate as there’s no school traffic/ disruption. Can’t believe that they think buyers are so stupid they’ll pay an extra £200,000. So ridiculous.

As a potential buyer, my experience has been awful. Travelled an hour for a viewing and they tried to cancel it with 10 mins notice due to staff shortages. Managed myself to arrange a viewing direct with the vendor. After submitting an asking price offer, heard nothing back at all! Constantly chasing them (Huddersfield Branch) and they either don't answer the phone or fail to return messages left. Truly awful experience.

The most unorganised service I have ever used and would not recommend to anyone. I have had nothing but stress and disappointment since renting with WH Brown: from initially having a rainwater leak into my property on my first day of my moving date, to 3 months down the line while having to live elsewhere until this could be fixed because of Covid. I was told that I would not have to pay the rent until the leak was fixed in writing via email and whilst I was living elsewhere. 4 months in to the contract, once I moved in and the leak was fixed, to now being told that I owe them money, the landlord is denying that he ever said that he would delay payments and they are evicting me because they can’t get it in writing from him, which I had no idea about until 4 months into the contract. Spoke to a solicitor and was told that W H Brown are the landlord’s agent and so they are his voice, so if you have it in writing from them then they would struggle to argue in court. I am being evicted, with threats to take me to court for something which was THEIR FAULT. The most untrustworthy company I have ever come across. Nothing but un needed stress to add to an already stressful year.

Not what i was expecting from an estate agent of this calibre. They got everything wrong from day 1, mixed up appointments and extremely poor communication. No one answered the phone lines which was possibly down to covid which was fair play but what was not acceptable was when you finally get through on the phone to an answer machine and you leave a message no one calls you back. Worst decision ever to use this company and when we decide to sell again we will be avoiding like the plague

Very, very poor customer service. Tried to arrange a viewing for a property almost a month ago, I'm still waiting for them to get back to me despite several calls and emails. I had one response to say it would be passed to the manager, that was over a week ago. As a potential vendor and buyer I've spoken to a lot of the staff, not one has been professional or efficient. The property I wanted to view is still on the market, I would not be happy if I was the vendor.

Absolutely amazing. Both the estate agents and mortgage advisors connected!! I’m a first time buyer and everyone involved has been SO SO helpful. Even though I’m only buying I know they would be amazing at selling too and will definitely be going back when the time comes. They do a lifetime guarantee fee so when I remortgage they will handle the hassle and I won’t be charged another large fee and not only that, I’ve been shown through the entire house buying process which has eliminated any unexpected fees. Would recommend 11/10 for this estate agent. They were not only professional but I actually have a good time chatting with them on the phone! Adapted great with the current situations! Not cheap, but they arranged viewing as as soon as the contract was made - before full details were on the market. and they sold the property within 3 days.
They provided an accompanied viewer, who was very good, and also provided god advice after 3 offers came in together.
Didn't always provide feedback after viewings.

Never see a worst estate agents you would get more sense and information out of a group of kindergarten kids.

I Asked to speak to the manager and the staff call him or her a "it" you get the answer "its" not available. How rude and sad for the manager.

Amazing people, Lauryn and Amy dealt with me and my partner. My landlord ended up doing a runner on the day we were going to move in and they dropped everything to make sure we got a home that day. Was in the office for about 4 hours and became a piece of furniture! But, they didn't mind and helped me with everything they could. Ended up being moved into a different place that same day and now all settled in and very happy. If it wasn't for their determination, we would've been homeless.

It started bad with the agent over priced our property I suggested a more realistic valuation to be told we're the experts so just let us do our job so the signs where their.
I feel this is where it all went wrong for us and my advice to anyone with a house to sell do your homework and be strong and not stupid like me .
We have spent 7 months and taken the price down 45k from WHB initial valuation but only 15k from what we valued the home we had and loved for over 27years.
We did a lot of the viewings ourselves because they had no one available
(that's how important we were)and everyone we showed around loved the house but all said the same overpriced
( what a surprise).
i'm happy now the house that was our home for so is now the starting point for another young family.
On a positive Liz who looked after the sale did push things along.

My wife and I have been extremely impressed by the team at William H Brown in Huddersfield. We had a few agents round from the top estate agents in Huddersfield so that we could evaluate our options. Chris from W H Brown came to value our property and went through exactly how he came to the value and explained how WHB go about there marketing- impressive stuff and delivered in a profesional and sincere manner. He said it wouldn't take long for them to sell our property at the best price possible but I never thoght we would get an offer accepted so quickly and for over the amount of the valuation!
The sales girls have been great too, they come highly recommended by us. We could tell they had worked hard at getting people to view our house because even within the first week before the house was even on there website we had several viewings and an offer!! The staff, especially, Louella and Maria, were excellent in dealing with what turned out to be the very difficult and stressful sale of my property. They were always friendly, polite and very helpful, always there to answer any queries and give advice. Although not the cheapest way to sell , I would thoroughly recommend them, you get what you pay for!

I will never apply for a letting property with this company again.
I applied for a property in Brighouse on the 21st December, paid the £96 each fee(£192), for them to call me on the 22nd to say the owner had changed their mind and was selling instead.
I was told my money would be refunded within 3 working days, due to Christmas i should have my money back on 29th December. well that date came, no money!
I called the lettings office, who said they would speak to accounts and call me back later that day. no phone call....
I called on 2nd January, again said she would contact accounts and call me back, still no phone call, called again on Wednesday to be told my refund was not done on the 22nd, and that accounts were closed over Christmas, but that it had been refunded and will be in my account by the end of the week. She said she had tried calling but it was voicemail, but she didn’t leave a voicemail, so I think she never tried calling back. My phone was free to receive calls all day.
On Friday 5th January and i still don't have my money in my account. So they have kept my money for over 2 weeks, for a property that i can’t even rent, due to the owner changing their mind! I called up again and spoke to Amy, who advised that they are a large group and they have to locate the money and refund it, and that it takes time to find it but they had done everything at their end. She said she would speak to accounts and call me back. Again no phone call was received.
It is now Monday 8th January and I still do not have the £192.00 that I paid almost 3 weeks ago. I spoke to Amy and she advised that it will be in my account within 2 working days. I have asked for a complaint to be put in but I doubt anything will be done.
I have finally got my refund on Wednesday 10th January. Almost 3 weeks….

All of the team were great and did everything the could to answer questions when needed. They didn't leave us hanging for answers and always came back promptly. Our house had been up with another agent for 3 months prior to WHB and had 5 viewings... WHB had people in very quickly and managed to get offers with in 5 days of it being swapped from the previous agent. I would recommend using the in house solicitors and mortgage lenders as this did make the process of moving much smoother. Would happily use again if I ever decided to move on.

Dreadful service. Have rarely been able to get a viewing - it’s almost as if this agency doesn’t want to sell houses? Maybe it’s because we’re not locals that we get such a poor reception from this team of so called professionals? Vote with your feet - there’s better estate agents in town!

Fantastic experience with William H Brown in the purchase of our new home - from our first meetings with Emily to discuss the mortgage, all the way through to collecting the keys!
All the staff are so very very friendly and attentive, but must give special mention to Louella who had to put up with our many questions and many visits to the branch over the course of our purchase :) She was always on hand to answer our queries with a smile and was excellent at keeping us sane throughout this most stressful of times! She was very proactive and exuded confidence and re-assurance to us as first time buyers! Would highly reccomend her to anyone looking to buy a home! Thank you too to Charlotte the branch manager who looked after us for the last couple of days leading up to exchange (which was by far the most stressful part) and again helped to keep us sane and re-assure us!

Pushed lots of lies to get us to rent, then I had to push them for them and it took 6 months for things to get started. Even when things were started it was slow and things were just dumped. Wrote a formal complaint and nothing was done, so glad I will be rid of them

William H Brown Huddersfield office sold my house for me really quickly. We had viewings before the house advert even hit the internet. They were really quick in getting photos sorted and our details online. After some initial problems at the start with pictures and descriptions this was all sorted and our account was taken on by Louella who was absolutely amazing and kept everything moving quickly and chasing the solicitors etc. Louella certainly gave 100% of her all on our sale and chasing solicitors up and keeping things moving. I can't thank Louella enough for how she kept me going through the whole process and explained what was happening as we went along. William H Brown certainly earned their fee and again I can't thank them enough for getting my house sold quick enough so I didn't miss out on the house of my dreams!

Cannot recommend them enough for buying / selling a property. We were with another estate agent and had no success so decided to try with someone else (William H Brown) - From the very start every member of staff couldn't do enough for us and took the stress out of moving. We also used their onsite mortgage advisor who got us a brilliant deal and again helped us every step of the way and explained everything to us. I felt confident from the initial meeting that William H Brown would look after me along the sales process, it is however still a leap of faith but I was not disappointed.
Through my experience I have a great affinity for estates agents because the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes is so extensive, I had no idea!
Louella on the sales team was very efficacious, always in touch updating me at every stage and generally working very hard to ensure a sale and a smooth transaction, a lovely girl and a credit to the company.
Within 2 weeks of my house going on sale I had 9 viewings, 2 offers and an offer accepted. There were complications along the way due to errors made by my old conveyancing team which was out of William H Brown's control hence the complition did take a tad longer than hoped.
A more than happy customer.

Had a poor experience with this branch, the staff were polite, however they constantly hounded us. We recieved multiple emails and calls, especially when we chose to go with another estate agents. We felt as thought we werent treated as a person but as a money bag due to the companies pushy attitudes.

If you need a good estate or letting agent you would be wise to try elsewhere. I have owned and let property in the Huddersfield area for over 40 years and I have just had my worst experience ever with William H Brown in Huddersfield. Save yourself some stress and find another agent, there are plenty around Huddersfield and I'm sure most of them are honest and truthful.

They'll gladly take your money off you (if you have a debit card, credit cards are apparently a no-no) but GOD HELP YOU IF YOU WANT YOUR DEPOSIT BACK. They didn't tell the landlord about what they needed from ME until he pressured them and they still didn't contact ME so I had to contact THEM only to be passed on to someone else. STILL WAITING A MONTH AFTER MOVING OUT.
Not to mention our guarantor never even received her papers, which she should have by LAW and it took them months to remove the no longer valid For Sale signs from our yard and the road!
Terribly run and organised place. Landlords and tenants, go somewhere else!
