Anne Luby has been amazing from the very beginning. She took the time to arrange regular Teams meetings, which made the whole experience feel much more personal. As a first time buyer, I had absolutely no idea where to start and felt way out of my depth, but Anne guided me through every step of the process.
Anne would also regularly send me properties that matched my requirements, which was incredibly helpful and made the search process much easier.
Anne responds to emails and calls promptly, no matter the time or day. Anne is incredibly friendly and approachable, and she makes you feel comfortable asking questions -no question is ever treated as a silly one. She is always on hand to explain things clearly and provide reassurance when needed.
Anne has a wealth of knowledge and takes the time to explain everything in detail. She also managed to secure me the best possible deal. Throughout the entire process she remained professional, kept in regular contact with updates, and made sure I always knew what stage things were at and what needed to happen next.
William H Brown as a whole have been amazing and incredibly supportive. I was originally contacted by someone called Hannah, who recommended Anne and could tell I was starting o lose momentum with my house searches. Hannah would regularly check in with me to see where I was at with everything and really helped give me my motivation back!

I never write reviews but I couldn’t not write one ! I met Anne (mortgage advisor) as a first time buyer with no idea about buying houses and all the other things that come with it! On first meeting she went through each step to buying a house and said she would be there with me for every step … and she has stuck to her word! From late evening calls to putting an offer in on my dream house and her flexibility when nail appointments ran late ! Anne was always happy to help from early morning to late evenings. She explained everything so clearly and left me with little questions due to her thoroughness. I’d seen Anne’s reviews online and felt optimistic about her service and can now say hand on heart that every word of those reviews are true and I’m so glad she helped me. I initially visited William H brown branch in Sowerby Bridge as a first time buyer for a property I was interested in. Unfortunately, through no fault of the branch the sale did not go through. However, whilst I was there I got in touch with Chris who is their senior mortgage consultant. Not only did Chris help me find the right mortgage for the initial property, but also gave knowledge, advice and found a suitable mortgage for another property I own now! This is despite the fact that I purchased the property with another estate agent. From my first visit to William H Browns, I was made to feel very welcome. The girls there are so lovely and friendly. They were really excited for me when I found the house for me.
I booked to see Chris Quirie who’s the Senior Mortgage adviser.
Chris was brilliant from the start. It was the first time I had bought a house on my own and I was unsure how things worked.
Chris talked me through everything. He worked really hard to find me the best mortgage. Because of past financial difficulties I was worried about my ability to secure finance.
Not only did Chris find me a great mortgage, he kept me informed every step of the way.
Chris was genuinely pleased I’d found a house, got my offer accepted and was on hand for questions and support.
I really cannot recommend Chris highly enough.
His expertise and the care he shows in his role is 2nd to none.

The viewings were carried out, in the main, by accompanied viewers rather than the sales team which I was not advised of at the beginning of the process which meant limited connection was made between any potential buyers and the sales team. Feedback and response to queries was slow and I often felt I was chasing the team.

** Update after head office review, the branch have said that even though there is no record of any contact being made with any party for over 10 weeks, that's because they did it face to face, which is a lie and did not happen, we've not been to the branch. They also say they discussed matters over the phone which again didn't happen. So just bear in mind when things go wrong they will just make up lies when challenged and even though there's no notes (as per company policy) they will still stick to their lies. **
Please do not use this branch or company. They are simply the worst estate agent I have ever come across. In short, they lie, don't contact you or respond to your contact & try pressure/force you to use their recommended solicitor firm, who I'm sure they receive a payment from which they don't tell you, the buyer also experienced this pressure.
if you don't use their solicitors they refuse to contact your solicitors or say they 'cannot contact them as you didn't use ours'.
It has been 10 weeks since we or the buyer of the house had any contact from W H browns, they feel this is acceptable. If we hadn't have sorted things directly with the buyer ourselves the sale would have fallen through, 100%. They feel it is also ok to not respond to emails for over 10 weeks from the buyer who needed urgent help.
They lie, they blame you for their mistakes and lack of service & also don't follow their own groups complaint procedure, ie don't advise you of your rights with the property ombudsman.
Please do not use this company, use someone else who actually cares and doesn't just see it as there job to put your house on right move.

Phone calls were rarely returned, even if answered. on one occasion a reception lady told me some-one would contact me at 4pm. I waited in until 4:30 & was answered by answer machine...which informed me the office was closed from 4pm on that day.
I was sent `viewers` appointments without regard to convenience to myself.
Generally I was very disappointed with that agent.
A new agent has recently taken over...they seem dynamic & wanted to help in any way. Staff answered `phone every time & were most enlightened & helpful.

The local market knowledge was excellent. The plan for the sale of my house worked really well, in spite of my initial doubts. The photography for my advert was outstanding compared to other local estate agents. It really stood out as a key strength. The estate agent cost was a little more expensive than others but totally worth the difference. My house sold after a single day of viewings, I had 5 offers on that day and it went for 15k over the asking price. I was more than happy with William H Brown's services.

I considered listing with WH Brown but found them to be overly aggressive when trying to get me to commit. They called for feedback and I explained why I had chosen to go elsewhere. Thirty minutes later I receive a call from them cancelling a viewing I had lined up to see another house that was on with them. They said there was too much interest and couldn’t fit me in. On a hunch I asked a friend to call and try to book a viewing for that same house. She was given one for the same day that mine had been cancelled. Very petty, clearly just upset because of my feedback. I wouldn’t do business with a company this unprofessional.

I have unfortunately got used to dealing with the inept wrt estate agents in my property search but for sheer rudeness this lot beat them all. I requested a viewing via e-mail for a property in Hubberton Green, Sowerby and received a call from a lady intent on picking a fight with someone. She was clearly in a right paddy because I pointed out I had already given the answers to her questions in that mail (address , buying position etc) at which point she declared she wasn’t dealing with me, accused me of swearing at her (I absolutely did not) and hung up on me
To the lady who dealt with me - if you’re incapable of dealing with the public may I suggest a job at Asda on the night shift - that may suit you better
To others possibly thinking of using William H Brown Sowerby I would recommend thinking twice
To William H Brown generally may I suggest you select customer facing staff with a little more attention to detail
To the manager of William H Brown Sowerby office - when you’re tempted to inappropriately defend your staff member who slanderously accused me of swearing let me suggest you put that in writing in a response to this review and we will take matters from there

Shocking service from the branch & branch manager Edward Cartwright at WH Brown Sowerby bridge, Halifax. They Claim No Sale = No Fee however instigate debt firm for fee on a house they didn’t sell. Shocking ability to do the basics. Potential buyers not followed up. Had to chase for feedback which they never ask buyers for. Valued the house completely wrong! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! Went on to zoopla for a valuation and it sends an email to estate agents to arrange a visit to value properties.
Booked for 13:00hrs today and I book the day off work for the "agreed" visit.
Been cleaning the house up top to bottom along with sat here which is 13:30 and still no visit.
I call up w h brown estate agents and the lady said a 'Edward C' has cancelled the visit and is no longer coming because he has booked two days off annual leave.
They said he called to let me know? Had many people call this morning in general and cannot see anything but he didn't have the decency or proactivness to let me know via a text message, email or voicemail for that matter. Didnt even get someone else to do a valuation in the individuals absence.
Letting down a customer and hanging me out to dry, absolute joke of a service and I have wasted a days annual leave myself now but as long as he has a nice two days off thats all okay isn't it.

We have been charged a fixed fee for commission not knowing that was the case, basically not explained at the time the property was put on sale with the agent.
It was my understanding we would pay 1% +vat the house was valued at 150k and yielded 140.5k so basically in my opinion we have paid commission on 9.5k that doesn't exist commission on fresh air! £1800inc instead of £1686inc
In the opinion of another agent the property was over valued as next door had sold for 150k not requiring any work.
Also hardly any viewings carried out by agent we had to do them the excuse was Coronavirus and staff self isolating.
Sale was held up as buyers and sellers details were the wrong way round on paper work so the paper work went to the wrong people.
Agent pestered my solicitor for title deeds long before any offer was recieved
Charged up front fees that other agents don't charge.
So what did they do apart from a few photos and a sign in the garden?

We used the Sowerby Bridge branch of WH Brown to sell our home. Rebecca visited our home prior to marketing and explained the service on offer. She is such a professional and personable representative for the company and we had no hesitation in having this agency sell our home. The whole team were extremely efficient and professional in their approach and got many viewers through our door within a matter of weeks. We received an offer in around four weeks from the time of initial marketing and the staff in the office contacted us with updates promptly and whenever a matter needed attention. Elliot seemed to be the chap assigned to us and was always available when we needed to speak to him. A really nice guy. Well done to all the staff at this branch for an excellent service. Highly recommended.

My house was on the market during a very quite spell. However W H Brown's persisted with the sale, contacting various people etc. Never letting up. After, almost 9 months they hit the jackpot and my house was sold. Doggedness and persistence were the key. They kept me constantly advised and updated of any progress. The staff in the Sowerby Bridge office were very efficient indeed.

Initially I was put off by the fee that you pay for the services given I'd had a number of quotes and thought that an estate agent who took a percentage of the sale value would be best (and assumed they would then be more motivated to sell). However after trying a local estate agent (not William H Brown) who worked on percentage I quickly realised you get what you pay for- the pictures of my house were poor (I ended up sending some over myself!) and the service shocking, most importantly they barely got any viewers through my door. After William H Brown sold my friends house on the same street she recommended them to me and I immediately switched to their team after being so impressed by my initial meeting with them and their professionalism and enthusiasm. The team is incredibly motivated and helpful and they had viewers through my door before my details even hit the web. They have done a fantastic job securing me the price I needed for my property and I couldn't recommend them enough. Please don't be put off by the fees- it will absolutely be worth the few pounds extra for the right service and the peace of mind of having a professional outfit handle every element of your sale. I wasted a lot of time and money with the wrong estate agent when my house could have already been sold using William H Brown- I can't praise them enough. Good customer service is very hard to find these days so well done to the team for keeping their standards high.

Very friendly and professional. Staff were very helpful when I was dealing on the purchase of a house on my inlaws behalf. The seller of the house was unhappy about a delay in funds being released (due to the bank and the delay was only 30mins) and they were quick to step in and reassure the seller
