Adding a review based on our property viewing experience conducted by Jack B. Very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. We have had many viewings with a variety of agents in recent months but Jack was the first to be able to answer all our questions at the first viewing. Although the property wasn't quite right this time we hope to meet Jack again soon.

We used abbotts to sell and buy our house through the pandemic. Pat and david where both very helpful in all aspects. We had pat come to value the house for a start and once we agreed on a price to sell we got all the paperwork sorted and went live.
We had lots of people visiting at the start and a lot of interest but no buyers. Nearly 1.5 yeara later we got a buyer. The time it took to sell was not helped by the pandemic. Both david and pat where very good and tryed there hardest on viewings.
Once we had sold i was having daily meetings with pat to help me find a property. We used there morgage adviser all over the phone. This worked realy well as i didnt get home in the normal 9-5 hours so he booked me in late and worked with me.
I cant say the same for there solicitors and servayors... Just dont use them... There useless i ended getting all my money back from the servayors as they messed up and missed so much. As for th solicitors they just kept missing things and would tell me something weeks later what i could have sorted in advanced. I luckily had pat and david chasing the solicitors daily. i know pat made over 90 phones calls to them and i spent endless hours chasing them up, pushing as they where just too slow.
But over all we where very haply with the service abbotts gave us and i would recommend them.

I can't recommend Abbots highly enough. Jack, Pat and David were great from start to finish. Professional, responsive and supportive throughout the whole process. Definitely deserve 5 stars!

They proved a little difficult to get a hold of, causing a few days delay (which given the housing market can make a big difference and is significant), but once we managed to talk to people they were mostly very good, informative and helpful

We had a great experience. David came and did a covid friendly meeting. Gave us a fair valuation. They were so patient with us as we were wanting to do some upgrades first. The pictures/videos that were done, were great and to a high standard. The communication between Jack, Patrick and David was brilliant with confirmations of viewings in both email and text message.
We will definitely be recommending to all house movers.

David Monk, Estate Agent was the main contact at Abbotts when our landlord decided to sell the property. David was an admirable agent, who treated myself and my housemate with the utmost respect. He was considerate and respectful at all times; when arranging and completing viewings, and communicating with us.
The house sale and viewings took place during the early stages of the global pandemic and this was managed well to ensure everyone's safety at all times.
Providing David would be my main contact at Abbotts in Ely, I would use their services again in the future.

I would recommend Abbots Ely if you are buying or selling a home and we found them to be extremely helpful and professional.

I feel sorry for the poor sodds who have these guys as their estate agent. Tried to book in to view some houses they are advertising and was told we had to have to speak to a mortgage adviser first. Unusual, but fine, did that. Having done that tried to get viewings booked, telling them any time on a specific day given - they not only failed to book the viewings, but when we called to ask when they were on the day, they then had the cheek to blame us for not giving them a specific time (I would have thought any time would be easier). Who knows what would have happened if we saw those houses, but we've now offered elsewhere.
Oh and the mortgage company they refer you too has 1 star on trust pilot. Undoubtedly they get a great commission for referrals. If you have these guys, I'd recommend looking for another agent.

My Wife and I recently bought a house through Abbotts Ely and from start to finish we couldn’t have had a more stressful and exasperating experience. I’ve read quite a few reviews and most have said “excellent service, treated like a valued customer, great communication” but unfortunately our experience was as far from these statements as possible. David started our house purchase journey with lack of communication, ignoring our emails and questions and we grew very tired of having to ask the same questions on several occasions to bet met with yet more lack of response. Our vendor’s situation was not the most simple, however, on several occasions we were promised a weekly update on the situation and yet again no response from Abbotts Ely was received. To that end we complained and Pat took over our purchase. I thought this would be a good move and having the “Area Manager” on the case would make sure we were moving forward. Again we were promised a weekly update, accompanied by the promise of pushing the purchase through as quickly as possible but we were hit with false promises and lies on numerous occasions yet again! Admittedly the recent COVID-19 pandemic did slow things down a little and this was completely understandable, however, when we were promised an update from the “Area Manager” after he had spoken to the Company Directors on how best to move this purchase forward we still had to chase several times with emails just to be told they were pushing for the purchase to go through as quickly as possible. We had to chase absolutely every request time and time again just to simply get nowhere.
Then came moving day, we had some issues with the other parties time keeping, to which we informed Abbotts who did absolutely nothing to try and move the situation forward resulting in my Wife and Dad having to complain face to face at the Ely office. They were confronted with a member of staff best described as a “wet drip of a bloke” who didn’t know what to do or indeed understand our situation.
For a business that relies on the general public for their existence, they showed complete disregard for communication and professional working practices. We were promised weekly updates; that didn’t happen. We asked for situation reports; nobody ever got back to us without us having to chase several times to be told “we’ll find out and get back to you” starting this merry-go-round of trying to get someone to answer emails and return our calls.
I can see so many reviews which state how well all of these principles were done in other peoples purchases, however, our experiences with Abbotts Ely was a complete nightmare and littered with incompetence and lies, both of which we didn’t expect from reading the reviews before we started our process.
In short, I firmly believe this to be one of the worst customer service experiences we have ever had.

My partner and I were lucky that the home we were interested in was looked after by Abbotts. We were treated like valued customers from the very first enquiry to the day we received our keys. The team (particularly David Monk) went over and above to assist us through the process. David has been very patient with us, always answered our many queries as we navigated the process of buying our very first home. This review is from Rebekah Taylor's father, Peter. I was very impressed with the service that I received from David Monk who handled the sale of my father's bungalow in Littleport. During the marketing process and the subsequent sale, I sent David several e:mails and I always received prompt replies. Many of these were sent during the evening or at weekends.
David's diligence helped us to find a suitable buyer and ensured that the subsequent sale proceeded smoothly. I would not hesitate to use him again if I needed to sell another property in the area.

OK so there's lots of agents out there but this agent went the extra mile for me during the ongoing dreadful times in the housing market while the Brexit fiasco continues.
The marketing was changed a few times until I eventually had three good offers on my house. The staff at Ely were understanding and patient throughout, I would definitely use them again.

Extremely dishonest when returning deposit, charged for faults that were present before our tenancy and then lied repeatedly. Staff were incredibly rude and dishonest. If I could give zero I would do!

Poor customer service. The first person dealing with our sale was sacked halfway through which we were not informed about. Frequently the staff were unhelpful and unprofessional--promising to return our calls but failing to do this. At times it felt like we were being misled or misinformed. On several occasions they gave us conflicting information or told us forms had been sent out when they hadn't or emails had been written/phone calls made which weren't. In our experience Abbotts is an incompetent estate agency from the area manager downwards. Avoid.

Very poor service!!!! After viewing and paying down £350.00 to hold a house to rent, the service was extremely Poor!!! The refranceing part was even more shocking when they did not understand the way my income was tax, after I had explained it to them going back and fort from the agent to the referencing company. They gave a decision that wrongfully reflexed my income. I then had to get my accountant to call them and explain the way my income and taxation works even duo I did this twice before. The office then stopped answering my phone calls, and when I did get hold of them I using 141 to block my number they answer my call right after i called showing my number. I was then given a runaround story by the staff and was told that i'll be called back within five min's once they talked to someone in the office; or they have to talk to the landlord; This went on and I was never called back by anyone till I called them the next day, I even left it for two day when I was told I was getting a call back stright away, and never did. From the day I paid my money to the day I HAD IT with all the Extremely POOR Service 17days had pass!! which was full of stress and upset for me as having to move house with 4 children is a stress in it self but having to put up with the incompetent staff at Abbotts letting, I called up to cancle everything I did not care if the landlord say yes or no to me renting the house all I wanted was my money back!! even this I now have to wait for as the only member of staff that can do refunds within the whold of Abbotts is on holiday till next Monday! I'm doing a live radio interview on BBC Cambridgeshir today and i'm going to get this story into it because people are held at ransom by letting agents cause the need somewhere to live so we put up with all The POOR Service, The Rude staff, The Lack of Empty at what is very stressful times. You had my money and still DO!! you also had an obligation to me as much as you have for the landlord to provide me with a Open,Honest and respectfull service. Which did not happen in this case!!! POOR POOR POOR POOR SERVICE "abbots" Never Again
