Everything fine with Estate agent, Ann Marie was fantastic, however can't leave 5 stars as the Homelet part of the process was very invasive and over the top. It felt like we were being treat like criminals and we had to prove our innocence.
Apart from that, it would be 5 stars.

Rented a property through dianne and John then new management came on without being told . The house was filled with black mould - a new born , a primary aged Child and pets were in this property and the new manager came round and said is it was us causing it ; there was no window in the bathroom and very little ventilation in the whole property , they sent Someone round to improve ventilation but this person didnt complete the work they said they did - Also a section of a private copy of a report of damp assessment that we had requested to understand why there was black mould had been taken out as we wanted to understand how we would have allegedly caused this when we constantly had vents and windows open 24/7 even in winter and there was little to no clutter in the property , we were treated like we were uneducated , stupid and fobbed off , we know what causes black mould and there was not enough ventilation in the property , we were told because we dried clothes inside we were the issues however the vents and windows were open 24 hours to release mositure , we had to contact the landlord directly several times and he helped more than the manager did , to us , it was an insult really trying to blame us for something that we de didn’t cause , I believe the landlord sold up after it was vacated by us , we did address this several times through writing and in person but got no where so we left , very little disregard in my opinion for the physical health and mental health of those who were living there at the time

Extremely disappointed with the service received from Barford Property Services Ltd.
I had several properties supposedly “fully managed” by them but they failed to carry out regular inspections or have the correct documents in place for a tenancy. On discussing the damage left by a tenant and their lack of inspections, they had the audacity to say I should have been doing regular property inspections and reporting back to them!
Barford’s have gone from Diane and John who were the most helpful genuine couple, to new management. A change they tried to bring about unannounced until the receptionist spilt the beans by ringing round for tradesmen prices. It soon transpired other landlords were not aware of the change either, several of which they have now lost.
The impression I got of the new management was arrogance and incompetence, everything rushed, paperwork with basic errors etc, and generally lacking professionalism. Perhaps, coming from a plumbing background the new manager is simply out of his depth. In my opinion, he needs to get some guidance and training in property management and in particular customer relation/retention skills.
Unhappy with the service received, I’ve terminated all management with them after many years but they refuse to return the overpayment of management fees without reason. That says a lot..
Letting agents are ten a penny so any landlord considering Barford’s consider your options carefully, you’ll not look far to get better service than offered here, this is my opinion and advice based on unfortunate personal experience.
Edit in response to Barford's reply that they have now deleted, which was quite a polite response in comparison to earlier emails received from them. As Barford's are aware, the areas of my complaint were not within the scope of The Property Ombudsman and that is why they could not deal with them. The ombudsman would have been able to address the matter of the lost tenancy agreement and Barford's general incompetence had I submitted the documents within the given time frame and I still have the option to recover damages through the courts should I wish. I am still waiting for the email they reckoned to send in their reply, however, I have no wish to do any business in the future with them having found a reputable local agent who is more than happy to take business away from Barford's.

It is obvious reading the several recent negative reviews on here that they are scam reviews, they have been reported to Google and hopefully they will be removed. As I state in my review below, Barfords are highly professional and it would appear a disgruntled client, and their friends, have deliberately written fake reviews.

Having bought and sold many properties over the years, and now owning rental properties, we highly recommend Barford Property Services. The owner, Diane Ford, has a wealth of local knowledge, and she is totally professional. Having used previous agents in the past we can confidently say Barfords are The Best. A local independent company, the owners go out of their way to help clients, even offering weekend and evening appointments to view properties. Barfords manage our rentals exceptionally well, any problems are dealt with efficiently, they liaise well with tenants and ourselves and we have every confidence in their expertise. When it comes to referencing new tenants to ensure they are suitable we know they check carefully to make sure everything checks out okay. They regularly inspect our properties and update us immediately if any problems arise. We have always found both Diane and her husband, John, very helpful, polite and know we can rely on them to do a good job on our behalf.

SCAM! ripped us off for £200, said we was trying to hide things from them, wouldn't allow us to come in and prove that we had the correct paperwork! Lost us a house would never go there again

If you want an excellent professional service there is no other place to go. Diane has extensive local knowledge and experience in property sales and letting. Both she and John go above and beyond expectations to offer an excellent all round service to their clients. I have used their services to buy and to rent properties in the past and can say they will work for you every step of the way. Progress is communicated effectively and to the point. Any issues are dealt with quickly and efficiently. Tenancy checks are thorough and Diane pays great attention to details. Valuations and pricing are realistic - no overpricing to bump up their fees. I can highly recommend.
