Have just sold a flat through Barnard Marcus and can highly recommend them for this. I had great support getting through a sometimes tortuous process dealing with solicitors and the building's management, and BM really stepped up when the going got tough. Particular shoutout to Noel and Vig, who I felt really went beyond the call of duty to get this over the line. Good comms throughout, and fair pricing for what they delivered. Would use again without hesitation.

Scheduled twice appointments with this estate agent to view several properties. The first was cancelled on very short notice, and the second time not happening again, without even bothering to cancel. I had blocked out two Saturdays for these viewings and spent time coordinating through multiple back-and-forth emails. Extremely unprofessional and disrespectful of a buyers time. I would not recommend working with this agency.

Really happy with the help and support I got from Vig at this office. Viewed several properties over a few weeks and Vig was always able to quickly answer any questions I had. Also great support via text. Much better than many other agents I’ve dealt with who insist on phone calls. Seriously, who does phones calls anymore? Wake up other estate agents.

Unorganised and patronising property management team who don’t know anything about renters rights on which I had educate them. They are so condescending toward tenants and just completely unhelpful. The flat was provided in dire condition, dirt and dust everywhere, and hadn’t seen a lick of new paint in years. Avoid at all costs.

Aaron went to some great lengths to secure my property on his books and advocated for his long list of applicants and top sales team (i.e. a new joiner and someone on his way out). I had made it clear I had enough of pushy estate agents that do not communicate frequently or share meaningful feedback about viewings. Pretty much every single viewing feedback had to be chased down, almost no proactive communication with me. We then agreed a sale price drop 2 weeks ahead of an open house event. Yet, somehow, the team dropped the ball, didn't change the sale price, so no renewed interest ahead of open house event meant the opportunity window was lost. Absolutely gutted about the service in general. Would not recommend them for a sale.

The team at this office, Aaron, Marco and George have honestly been the best estate agents I’ve met during my 4 month long property search. They’re really responsive with calls, emails and texts, and have been really flexible with helping me fit viewings after work and on weekends.
They helped me get an offer accepted on my first choice property, and although now the sale is not going ahead for reasons outside all of our control, they’ve been really supportive, patient and helpful while I navigate this situation.
I must have met with 15 or more agents during this search and these guys are the only agency that haven’t messed me around with late cancellations/no-shows, and have seemed so honest and genuine throughout.

Unfortunately the experience of trying to view properties managed by Barnard Marcus was quite unpleasant. I told them I could view on a certain evening and they gave me a different evening without properly informing me. They also gave me the wrong address so I waited for 30 minutes while they didn’t respond to any emails or calls (they claimed to have tried to call me but I didn’t have any missed calls).
To top it all off, they gaslighted me afterwards and tried to claim I had made the mistakes and none of this was their fault.
Poor service, avoid this estate agent if possible. Renting is stressful enough already without going through this.

Unprofessional company who does not pay back tenants deposits in a timely manner, avoid.
After two months of waiting I finally received the following as a reasoning for trying to keep my deposit by Barnard Marcus:
"£245.71 for decoration of marks and anything over the scope of fair wear and tear throughout the property.
This has been calculated as follows:
The full quote is £850
Each room would be roughly £140 if split evenly
As three rooms do not need any decoration, this would leave £430 remaining from the original cost.
Divide this by 7 to get the yearly depreciation and then times that by 4 for the remaining years left on the life of the decoration as it was carried out last in January 2019.
This number comes out to be £245.71."
Given that my checkout report stated that when we moved in the walls & woodwork were in 'good to fair condition' and when we moved out they were in 'good condition' it's almost farcical that they are attempting to keep the deposit at all. It appears they have come up with a formula for working out wear and tear and are charging it to their tenants! Pretty sure that's illegal.
They have also requested an additional £288 for a professional clean despite it being cleaned professionally when we left!
Bunch of chancers, avoid at all costs.

This past year has been an absolute nightmare. Barnard Marcus managed our property, unfortunately. We were left with no hot water for a long period of time, no washing machine for months. During the winter months we had no heating for a number of weeks, the agents told us to buy a heater in which they would reimburse, to this day we have had no refund. We put a formal complaint in November 2020 and have just had a reply now. On numerous occasions they were rude and sarcastic over the phone. The last year has been incredibly stressful. To add to the matter, they are now still trying to charge us for everything they possibly can. We have taken our case further and sought legal advice. Do NOT use this estate agents.

They threatened me since the first day to leave the property on the market, despite my offer was accepted by the seller, if I did not chose their mortgage broker. My mortgage was ready the day after the offer accepted and they started stalking me with continuous phone calls to contact my solicitor regarding the progress. They have a Sales Progression Manager completely useless, she was calling me to have info instead to provide info. She threatened me the day before the exchange to put back the property on the market inventing a deadline that was not in place since some documentation was not ready fro the solicitor point of view.

I am generally not one to leave reviews for a positive experience, and I should definitely do this more often as I usually never hesitate to leave a review for a dreadful experience - therefore, here I am leaving a fantastic 5* review for Barnard Marcus (Clapham Branch) and particularly to Tom Cowdrey the Branch Manager. It took over 3 months to close the deal on our property purchase due to some unforeseen issues, however, all throughout the process Tom (and his team) looked after us and made us feel as though we were their only clients, never hesitating to go above and beyond general expectations in order to achieve the very best experience for us. I cannot recommend Barnard Marcus enough and this particular branch!

I went on a couple of viewings with Renelle and although I didn’t find the exact property I wanted through Barnard Marcus my general experience with registering and viewing with Renelle was so much better than the usual high street agent. She’s really enthusiastic and helpful and is even helping me set up tenant insurance which my current agent didn’t even offer me.

I have just purchased with Barnard Marcus in Clapham. They were incredibly supportive throughout the whole process by getting involved & chasing the sale at critical points to ensure as smooth a process as possible.
The thing that really strikes me about this office is they truly work as a team. If the sales negotiator who is dealing with your sale / purchase is out of the office, other members of the team always ask if they can help & actually do step in if they can.

We recently sold our flat with Barnard Marcus in Clapham, and could not have been happier with the service we received. We saw a number of estate agents prior to putting the flat on the market - 3 high street and one online. The online option, I have to admit was tempting - of course due to the significantly reduced fees. However, I firmly believe that had we gone with that option we would not have received anywhere near the level of service, or achieved the same sale price. Communication with Jack and the team at Barnard Marcus was excellent. Even during out of hours we would receive messages about the progress of the sale. We received sound advice on preparing the property for sale and even assistance with removing items of furniture from the flat when we were not able to actually do it ourselves (thanks, Andrew!). Professional, efficient, and again great communication - and worth the fee! I would doubt you will get a better service elsewhere. Highly recommended.

We paid the deposit and the agent fee for an apartment to be removed from market and they rented it to someone else and now I'm homeless. Don't ever use them. They didn't even called us to communicate that other people were offering more money for our flat. I have never had a problem before with any agency and honestly, I would never, ever recommend to anyone dealing with this people.

Barnard Marcus & Jack Whiley - Immeasurably better than Purple Bricks (who took our money & did sweet FA). Marsh & Parsons weren't any better, however, Jack (of Barnard Marcus) was very persistent (an excellent trait for a sales person) and plain and simply just kept in touch and asking "can we still help...".
The asking price was not initially achieved, well below target expectation, however, with a little help from the vendor [ourselves] we managed to get it over the asking price by an acceptable amount. Would recommend Jack & his team, professional and kept us abreast virtually every step of the way (good or bad) unlike the aforementioned who didn't contact me and it took days for them to respond to enquiries/requests (PBricks) and if they did reply, they made a Million & one excuses why it couldn't be done. Don't get sucked into false advertising!

AVOID - DO NOT USE. I called to arrange a viewing which was confirmed. two days later, on the date of the viewing, I left work and cycled across London for 30 minutes only to find no one at the property. When i called the head office I was told that the property had already been let to someone else and I could view it. No explanation given, no communication before the viewing to let me know. Really poor customer service.

Do not use their solicitors (sequence). We were advised to do so by their team, despite our reservations, we were assured that this would be the best option. The service was shocking. I only spoke to the solicitor once, despite calling many times. We were cc'd into emails and asked to read through the correspondence or attachments, if wanted to find out what was going on. I cannot stress how dreadful the service is and how they should at all costs be avoided.
