Great experience throughout the tenancy. Processes have always been smooth, transparent and quick.
They take care of tenants as well (not always a given) and always tried to make both landlord and tenant happy.
A special mention for Paul who has been fantastic from day one, very professional, responsive and a very good person from my personal point of view. Natalie was professional and lovely as well! Will miss them all.

Myself and my husband stumbled upon Borthwicks when we were property searching over 2 years ago. It is a hidden GEM within the industry especially when you are looking for something as important and personal as your home.
Although we originally spoke with Paul, we dealt with a few team members through out the whole process. They are professional, personable, transparent and easy to contact should you need to. We would highly recommend to anyone if you are ever renting/buying.

My husband and I have had a great experience with Bortwicks. We rented a flat from them for three years and the renting throughout this period was stress-free.
They have been outstanding agents, thorough and dedicated and really cared about our wellbeing while living in the property. Paul and Hugh, who were our main contacts, were always willing to help us.
I would highly recommend this estate agency, the service they provide is outstanding and I will definitely call upon Borthwicks again if I return to Chiswick in future.

I don’t know if this is an agency or a circus.
I did call to arrange a viewing and the guy pretend to don’t hear me.
I called again, same story.
After 4 calls, the guy told me to stop calling them because they couldn’t hear me. So, I said to him that I’m calling because I wanted to ask few questions about the property. He told me to write an email with questions.
Now my question is: why when I said that, he could suddenly hear me? It’s sound like a joke to me.
Fair enough, I wrote the email with the question and after 1 minute I got the reply: this flat is not suitable for you because has no lift.
I never asked any lift, I didn’t make any question about it.
He just didn’t want to deal with me.
Very unprofessional.
I can’t recommend this agency at all.

Borthwicks Chiswick were a pleasure to deal with throughout my tenancy. Paul, Robert and Maria were efficient at all stages, from the initial arranging of tenancy, renewal and all the way to moving out. Communication was always very good and in my case they were particularly helpful towards the end of my term, which was very much appreciated. It is a more personable agency than others around. Borthwicks are easily the best estate agents I have ever dealt with. I rented a flat from them for just over a year and they were very easy to communicate with from the start. I believe then genuinely cared about our wellbeing whilst living in the property, as well the wellbeing of the property itself. They even talked to the landlords about expanding our contract to help accommodate us when my partner became pregnant. Special mention to Paul as he was our main contact. I dealt with Paul from the beginning when he showed me the unit and subsequently helped me to secure a monthly rent that was more affordable. Paul and his colleagues, particularly Mike, always responded promptly to my queries. During the check-out, the whole process was quick and straightforward. When he learned that I was leaving the country, Paul helped to expedite the refund of my deposit. His colleague Maria arranged for the full refund of my deposit on the very same day as my check-out which was simply fantastic. Will definitely call upon Borthwicks again if I return to Chiswick in future.

I'm a pretty demanding tenant in normal times, but even more so in pandemic times. Paul from Borthwicks went above and beyond to make sure my fiancee and I had a smooth and safe move and accommodate us; and was very responsive and helpful in finding us a new home we love.
I really enjoyed working with Borthwicks - some agencies especially larger ones can sometimes feel robotic and impersonal and this was not the case at all here. I felt taken care of throughout the entire process with Paul - highly recommended!

Our experience with Borthwicks was incredibly positive. After weeks of searching and dealing with pushy agents from the bigger agencies, the warm and grounded approach from Paul and the team at Borthwicks was such a refreshing change.
They let us the perfect apartment at the beginning of the first covid lockdown, when all the safety procedures we're so accustomed to now were brand new. They were quick to reply when we needed anything, otherwise they left us in peace to enjoy the apartment and the lovely area.
If you are looking for a place around Chiswick, definitely check them out first, they know the area better than anyone and there's a reason they've been in the game so long.

Recently rented a flat in Chiswick from Borthwicks. We have used large agencies to rent in Chiswick before, and when looking again, had friends recommend this place to us. What I liked about them is that they found me exactly the kind of place that we needed based on our requirements. Some of the other agencies we used would insist on showing us places that were clearly what we didn’t want (we needed a step-free place). Lovely staff, extremely responsive, kind and helpful and unlike the last property managers we had who changed every month and gave us zero continuity on follow up, the staff here all seem to have been around for a long time, know the area really well, and have been really thorough with follow ups and sorting out the normal teething issues when we first moved in (something’s not working, etc etc). They also had quite a few properties listed that weren’t listed on multiple sites and hence, we didn’t have to compete with a lot of other people viewing. ????

I have been a tenant in a flat managed by Borthwicks for the past 2.5 years. I have been renting in various locations in England since 2008 and I would say this is by far the best agency in terms of tenant experience. They are very responsive, have a personable approach and will try to sort out any issues quickly - these are all very important factors for a tenant experience that I did not observe when I dealt with big agencies in the past. Very pleased that "my" flat is managed by Borthwicks and will think twice before ever moving out.

Hopefully over the years they have new agents.Made the expensive mistake of letting my property in W4 through Tim.Apparently he,s more for tenant than landlord!Tenants left with new mattress I bought them and as I live overseas they had a problem with a tap washer so I said employ a local plumber and I'll deduct from rent.Well,I got an invoice from Beckenham,Kent for GBP525 for a washer!!!!!Never use this agency!The only time they were nice to me was when they knew I wanted to sell,but sold property in 24hrs with 1% commission from the Irish guy on CHS.My apologies,agents name was Hugh.Tim was from the agency that sold my property.

Wow - absolutely amazing customer service! I've been through multiple estate agents and Borthwicks is above and beyond all others. Especially Paul C. who has been just a pleasure to work with. From the moment he showed me the flat, to finalising the lease, and ensuring I was moved in properly - it's been such a pleasant surprise.
He responds quickly, resolves things, and is polite. I had a list of requests from moving items out, to getting new appliances, and all were accomodated without question. There is no doubt I will use Borthwicks for future property needs.

We found Paul Charman by chance and glad we did. The relationship has been great, easy and transparent which, unfortunately, you won´t get so often in this business. We´ve rented through 4 different agencies (top ones) and Borthwicks is the best by far.
Our time with Borthwicks has been great so far and as Matt says (a few reviews below) its administration fees are extremely reasonable in my opinion. I would recommend Borthwicks to anyone looking to rent a property in west London.

Paul Charman has been our primary contact and has always been a pleasure to deal with, Paul was excellent helping us find properties that suited our needs and has always ensured that any general maintenance issues of the properties were dealt with in a speedy manner.
Administration fees at borthwicks are extremely reasonable in my opinion.

I chose Borthwicks because it is a local independent estate agent, rather than a national chain. They genuinely care about their clients and their service is first class. I have let my property through them, then sold it through them and in both sales and lettings, Borthwicks has certainly gone above and beyond the call of duty. I would certainly recommend this agent.

RUDE - Called to register and explained I needed a 5 bedroom house for £1M. They laughed at me! Unbelievable!! Considering there are 4 on the market right now in that range, I'm astonished by their arrogance. Epitome of rude arrogant estate agents. Do not give these (I would swear here but this would get removed) your instructions.

The people working at Borthwicks are very welcoming, care about their jobs and are very experienced. They are therefore able to offer a great service, easing the stress that usually goes with buying and selling a property. This is the second time I have used Borthwicks when buying a property in Chiswick, in both opportunities the level of attention and friendly attitude greatly surpassed that of the other estate agents in the area. I’m very grateful to Robert Winter for helping me find my home and I will certainly use them again for any future transactions.

As a local Chiswick landlord I used Borthwicks as I knew the staff quite well. They where true to their word and kept me informed all the way through the process and got me the most suitable tenants in the tricky month of December, I couldn’t be happier and will use them again if I need to.
