I’m the owner of the property that the reviews of Federica and Esteve from below referred to. I’m very sad seeing their reviews as they are unfair. It is unfortunate that the sale fell through in the end, but everyone in Curchods involved have been working hard in the last 6 months. When various issues discovered, there were numerous phone calls and emails between us, trying to get the right information as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the management company was too slow to get the section 20 estimated costs before the buyer’s mortgage offer expired.
If we did not want to sell the property to them, I could have just withdrawn a lot earlier, rather than waiting for such a long time. In fact, Curchods still attempted to get their mortgage offer extended, but the lender couldn’t do that. Anyway, I don’t think it profitable to go into further details here, I just wanted to say that during this process, Curchods has been always supportive and transparent in various situations. In my opinion, they are professional, genuine and pleasant to work with.

Looking for our first property we were unlucky enough to come across this agency. On her own initiative Ruby showed us a nice property within our specifications (which we hadn’t asked for) and we ended up having our offer accepted. We trusted them to the point that we went for their own solicitors and in-house mortgage advisors (huge mistake). For the first couple of months we were bombarded with requests of documents and we underwent all sort of checks (excessive and unnecessary). Then all went mysteriously quiet and we tried all we could to make things moving and help them, to obtain a completion date, during a period of 6 months in total!!! Eventually we were not even worth an honest explanation of what was really going on nor an apology..according to what we have been told, they put on the market an unmortgageable property with a major works notice served (of which we were not informed) and significant difficulties with the freeholder/managing agents who would not provide the relevant costs!!! Major works must be discussed at the negotiation stage and should inform decisions made on the price! This is not an ordinary element of the management pack! But Mistakes can happen, we can understand, and we also understand that agencies make sellers interests, but the way Lisa/Chris handled the situation was simply unacceptable and dishonest! All the parties involved worked in their favour and kept providing us with misleading information while keeping our hopes high, causing a large waste of our time, energy, and money (£1500 in expenses) and the loss of our current rental property (which they were informed about). They did not propose any solution to try and help us overcoming this issue with our lender and as soon as our offer expired, the property was re-marketed (on the same day) with the identified legal issue still not resolved (allegedly). It seemed to me like they were anxiously looking forward to us withdrawing our offer! Advice for next time: try to be more clear with buyers that you don’t want to support and avoid causing serious issues to innocent people!
I have the strong feeling that all this could be a disingenuous agreement between them and the seller to push us aside in favour of other preferred buyers. Or the alternative explanation is just incompetence! I let you choose!
Anyway it’s totally fair from my perspective and experience with them, saying that my feedback is: Unhelpful, unethical, hypocritical, insincere, illegal as they withhold important information of financial interest to us breaching their own professional standards (the worst part is perhaps that they won’t even admit it despite all evidence and us confirming that there is ground to sue them!)

Simply waste of money and time! It is not unfair saying that after having our offer accepted, with no avail we waited 6 months NOT for an ordinary element of the management pack to come back on time to allow us to exchange contracts; instead, we waited unsuccessfully for the costs of Section 20 notice works about which we were not even informed in time to negotiate an adequate price! Example of items on the Section 20 notice list were roof replacement (not very ordinary maintenance I would say!). Without adding that they also pretended to help us negotiating with the seller the cost of what was said to be just a minor roof repair initially, and before we discovered the section 20 notice!
It doesn’t really improve their reputation knowing that they recommend their buyers to arrange a Mover Protection policy because anyway the buyers have to pay monthly fee for it and it’s not even guaranteed that they can recover the costs incurred for others’ incompetence!
I took the trouble to write this review (which, by the way, is not an opinion but it’s an objective fact that really happened to me, unfortunately!) with the intention to help other honest and serious buyers like us, avoid such incompetent, unintelligent people who sometimes can be confident enough to think that they can fool others without facing fair consequences on their reputation!

Curchods are an excellent organisation especially Barbara Courpasson.
We started looking for our first house about a year ago. During this time we saw many houses listed from many different agencies. We found most agencies would try to push us to view properties that were a complete waste of time and went for a quantity over quality approach. One agency even took us on a 30 minute drive away from the area we were looking for a "last resort viewing" even though we told them that we were not interested in going that far.
We found that Curchods were the only agency that took the time to figure out what we wanted, learn from the feedback we left at the viewing, and improve their recommendations to us. They were never pushy about viewing houses we didn't have interest in.
Overall, whilst we did not end up buy a house listed though, were our favorite agency in the area and we would 100% recommend people who are looking to buy a house contact them.

I already knew that Curchods had a good reputation in that they are a local business that know the local properties and the buyers who are going to be interested in buying them.
We were selling a fairly typical three bedroom house in need of updating in the middle of the covid lockdown, which wasn't the best time to sell.
Curhods placed it on the market and offer was made on the same day which led to its successful sale.
I would have no hesitation in using Chris Jakob and his team at the New Malden Office again.

I viewed a number of sales properties with Curchods New Malden through Victoria Yates. During this time of the pandemic, they were extremely good at keeping everyone safe. I have viewed with other agents who were not as good at respecting social distancing compared to Victoria. I would definitely say that Victoria was very good at pinpointing what we wanted as a property and each viewing got better. We did not buy through Curchods as we found another property with another agent. I've given 4 out of 5 stars because strangely I have also been registered with the Kingston office and keep getting emails from them.

She really made the whole experience painless for us. She chased the solicitors and the mortgage people, and she gave us regular updates, keeping us in the loop the whole time. She obviously takes a great deal of pride in her work.
The whole experience was amazing. We've had some much less positive experiences with previous estate agents, and so we were very pleasantly surprised with Victoria, who was by far the best we've ever dealt with.

Overall, Curchods provided a very good service. Their initial marketing was all fine but it was after the sale agreed stage that they really provided a good service. We had a whole series of problems with our buyers (not of Curchod's making) and Victoria in particular worked very hard to hold the upward chain together.

Despite the inevitable hiccups you hit in the moving process, Chris, Victoria and Rupert remained patient, were always professional and polite and helped us to complete the move when it might otherwise have faltered.
Chris's many years experience and great knowledge of the local area meant that he was always a reassuring voice when things were difficult. Victoria and Rupert always did all they could to keep all parties in the chain communicating and prevent things stalling, keeping tabs on solicitors and generally helping to keep everything on track. It's this that makes the difference between a chain that fails and one that completes.

Despite a very protracted exchange due to solicitor incompetence further down the line, Rupert went above and beyond on a daily basis to establish what was the delay and how to proceed.
