If I could give no stars I would. Will, who said he was the manager of the two Hackney branches, really could not manage a rice pudding. He was enthusiastic until the sale was agreed and then didn't want to bother with any communicating thereafter. He gave the clear impression that he just needed to sit back, do nothing more and wait for the commission to role. He gave clear indications that he did not have time to try and help progress the sale because he was too busy trying to make other property sales. I came away with the definite idea that Dexters work on agreeing as many sales as they possibly can and then do nothing thereafter and keep their fingers crossed that the sale completes. They work on quantity of sales and not quality of service. What Will does not take into account is that buying and selling is very stressful for the buyers and sellers and part of the agents job should be to be very active in progressing the sale and keeping in communication with other agents and the buyers and sellers until the sale is complete. Avoid listing your property for sale with Dexters to avoid disappointment.

Mosh was absolutely outstanding at helping me have an offer accepted a very in demand property. Great service provided by the team at Dexters Hackney when selling our flat. We originally went with another agent, but when the situation changed Dexters were happy to work with us and provided exceptional service. It wasn't always a straight forward sale, but the team were extremely efficient and communicated at each step of the process. I have to say that Joe who originally valued the flat and managed the sale is outstanding and a real asset to the team (they are all great ofcourse!). I don't leave many reviews but the service provided by Dexters was outstanding and my only regret was not choosing them in the first instance. Really appreciated all the help and would definitely recommend Dexters to anyone.

I had the pleasure of interacting with Billy, who was responsible for all the efforts in assisting a complex request, and it doesn't take long before you start to see why there are so many other highly rated 5 star reviews, be it from landlord or tenants. They are not your average "agent", they take responsibility and follow through with each commitment.
From the initial touch point, Billy and Dexters Hackney branch took pride in their tasks, set realistic timeframe and constantly kept me up to date with each stage of the process. And there's always someone at hand to either respond to emails or phone calls, as we were working towards a very tight deadline.
I would have no hesitation in recommending them as an agent - be it for landlords or tenants. And if you want to test their grit and passion for helping you, go and pay the team a visit and you will experience exactly what others have attested to previously, before me.

UPDATE: I've now been in a flat managed by Rebekah at Dexters for several months and have found her to be very responsive and helpful whenever I've needed her assistance!
After a long and sometimes frustrating search for a flat to let, I went to a viewing with Billy, and told him I'd like to make an offer. Billy organized everything so quickly that by the time I got home from the viewing (~30 mins later), he called to say the offer had been accepted, and kicked off all the paperwork straight away. I could not believe how fast & efficient the process was, and Billy was communicative and in my corner the whole way. By far the most seamless letting process I've ever experienced! Thanks Billy!

Mosh was my agent and he was very responsive and approachable. He showed me around the place multiple times and always with a smile. He also helped me follow up with the seller when the process got stuck. Unfortunately, he caught Covid when the process was towards the end. I would recommend Mosh to other people!
The agent who took over my case after Mosh was disappointing. He scheduled an appointment with me to view the place before exchange but seller wasn't aware of. So the place was still messy and not cleaned when I got there. Also when it's complete, he told me to get the keys directly from the receptionist but when I got there, the receptionist said they didn't receive any email notice of the place has been sold and owner has moved out. I needed to call the agent again to ask him to send the email.
I know I was not this agent's client from the beginning. And he might not get any money from my case but still, we should respect each other's time and be responsible and professional at work.

Friendly service and team with good communication. Dexters rented my property within a month of signing on! Joe was very good and fast at communicating. However, being an overseas landlord, I didn't feel as though I was supported and kept in the loop at all times; I had to chase up for information a few times, which given the amount you pay for the service is not what you'd expect. It is very clear this is simply a business transaction, and as long as you are aware of that, Dexters is a good choice.

Billy Flynn was everything you want: Fast, Attentive, Sympathetic. Managed to get us an amazing property that we really wanted on a beneficial term for us and the landlord: both making a small sacrifice to achieve a mutual agreement.

My husband and I found a wonderful flat through Joe Read in Dexter’s Hackney branch. He called me the day the flat came on the market - I hadn’t seen any photos as it only came on that day - so I had to trust that he knew what we were looking for! I was understandably hesitant, but the flat fit our criteria perfectly.
Joe kept in constant contact throughout the offer process and made sure we knew exactly what was required in terms of the tenancy agreement.

Dexter’s is a friendly and very accommodating agency, although Dennis was extremely impressive from the valuation until the point of move in. As I was renting my property out for the first time I was nervous. However he answered all my questions and kept me updated at all times.
He found me the perfect tenants and made sure I knew what to expect after they moved in.

Paul Ford manages our property and is always prompt at responding to our concerns and getting any issues resolved. Recently we needed a dresser door fixed and Paul arranged for Dexter's handyman Kim to come in. Not only did Kim fix the issue, but he took the initiative to fix another bureau that he noticed needed attention and even replaced sealant behind the kitchen sink. We were so impressed and thankful that the overall upkeep of the property was treated as a priority, with future issues being anticipated and addressed without us needing to flag them.

From the very first day when I expressed my interest of a property back in early July, Harriet Gigson has been very helpful, informative and communicative. I am quite surprised by the lack of professionalism by their property management team. I moved to a flat almost two months ago; the landlord decided to get their property management services. When I moved, the flat wasn't professionally cleaned as it was agreed in the contract, well it wasn't even cleaned at all.
It turns out that Dexters sent a cleaning agency but never checked if the job was done correctly (their office is 5min walking distance from the property). Well, things don't end here. After moving, I sent a list of items that needed to be fixed, they have been quite slow responding.
I have had to chase them several times to get an answer so far, they have managed to fix 3/14 issues reported. They kept telling that the landlord needs to approve the quotes, but I met the landlord the other day, and he mentioned that he's approved most of them. (Not sure what to think)
I would have expected them to be on top of things like this, proactively communicating with me instead of waiting for me to chase them several times. Also, I found out by the landlord that the person who was in charge of my flat left the agency and they never told us about this change.
I am very disappointed with their property managing services.
They are experts on chasing you to sign a contract and pay, but they forget about you once everything has been paid.
I am leaving three starts because my experience prior signing the contract was OK with them.

After having a particularly negative experience with both an online and another local agent, it was such a relief to have a strong team conduct our viewings. At first, our experience with Dexters was really positive. Super nice agent, easy going, approachable, it was great.
Now, to say we are disappointed and frustrated would be an understatement. We were misled by our agent and are now out £720. We were left spending several days trying to get ahold of our agent to which we were left a text saying they were out of the office for the week. Beyond frustrated and disappointed with our experience with Dexters.
Long story short. We were massively misled by our agent, and were left stuck and confused, told different things from different agents, etc;
We feel massively misled and manipulated.
UPDATE: after reaching out to a higher up, we were able to get our funds back. Despite this correction, we still had an overall very negative experience with Dexters. Agents speaking to us inappropriately and using profanity, unable to be reached when needed the most (and when it comes to moving, this is important. We ultimately had to decide to immigrate back to the US because we would have otherwise been homeless), and overall very unprofessional and seemingly manipulative behavior from this Dexters team.
There are plenty of other estate agents in London, choose one of them instead.

We have just bought a house through Dexters Hackney. Their service was great and they were easily contactable and very attentive throughout the process. Though acting on behalf of the vendors we really felt they also gave us their best service, acted on behalf of our interests and helped push the sale through when delays and problems occurred (issues with solicitors).

I am enjoying their unsolicited post ever since my house was put on the market through a different estate agent.
I especially enjoyed queuing up for twenty minutes in the post office to pick up a letter that had postage due on it. This turned out to be another one of Dexter's unsolicited letters that they had failed to put any postage on.

Dexters nailed it! They knew exactly what I was looking for, which meant that Hugh Turner was immediately able to tell me about a stunning flat which met my specification and had just come back on the market unexpectedly. I leapt at it instantly!
From there, it was an easy and collaborative working partnership with Hugh, which held the (now shaky) chain together and allowed me to exchange within a very short number of weeks. Such a blessing to have found an estate agent who has the experience and skill to smooth the buying process and take early action to avoid any possible bumps.

So estate agents can be slippery. What they say might be difficult to read and sometimes somewhat tricky to believe, right?
Dexters on Broadway Market is the total opposite of that. They seem to have an extreme amount of care for both the seller and buyer. This is rare.
We started looking for a place (to buy) and found one on the first set of viewings. This happened because they didn’t try and force us into a space but instead listened to what we were after and only showed us places in line with that.
Limited time wasting with a professional ear tuned in into what you are saying vs. what they want to hear.
We dealt with Jodie & Ruairi - both are extremely nice and with a acute knowledge and passion of the area.
Will close with this, if you want to readjust your perception of the difficulty attached to buying or renting, go and see Dexters.

I can recommend Hugh for first time buyers. Having met and seen a large number of agents and properties Hugh actually took the time to show you the property (rather than just leave you to look for 2 mins and expecting you to buy) and I didn't feel pressured to make a quick decision. He also took time out to let me view for a second and third time, and measure up for furniture. After my offer was accepted barring issues outside for Dexters' control it was a relatively pain free process and Hugh kept me informed of the purchase status throughout the process. Would use again!

they found us tenants for our flat in Bow, checked them out to make sure they would be perfect for our property. then did all the hard work for us.
they have been there for us whenever needed to answer questions and put our minds at rest.
advising us on the best time of year to renew a tenancy.
the knowledge they have is amazing, and the genuine care they have for their landlords is brilliant.
we regularly get a check up call from Greg, to make sure all is going well, and to ensure there's no problems to report.
our rent is collected on time, and paid into our account without fail.
I could not praise the entire team enough for the hard work they put into getting our property let.
not only that but also making sure the tenants are top class ones that will cause no issues.
