I’m genuinely disappointed with the way this agency handles ongoing issues in the property they manage. A problem has been reported multiple times over a long period, Communication is slow, inconsistent, and often feels like an attempt to stall rather than resolve anything. Each time I follow up, I’m told the matter is “being looked into,” but there’s never any progress, no timeline, and certainly no accountability. It’s incredibly frustrating to deal with an agency that seems more interested in ticking boxes than actually fixing the problem.

My experience with this agency has been very poor. There has been a serious leak from the upstairs bathroom for over a month, and despite repeated reports, repairs have been continuously delayed with explanations such as holidays and scheduling. During this time, the upstairs bathroom has been closed and unusable, one room already collapsed and part of the ceiling near the entrance has already collapsed due to water damage.
I was told to simply use the downstairs bathroom and that the issue does not affect me, which I found very dismissive. There was also a day when electricity and water were completely off, leaving the property without basic facilities.
When I asked about ending the tenancy early due to these ongoing issues, I was informed that I would need to pay the remaining rent for the fixed term. From my perspective, the communication and handling of urgent maintenance has been inadequate, and I did not feel supported as a tenant. I would advise others to carefully consider their options before renting through this agency.

Dixons were the estate agents instructed by our landlord for their tenant finding service. The staff that we dealt with were completely uncontactable - we called every day, multiple times, for a week, and emailed - it was impossible to get in contact. Our tenancy agreement wasn’t sent to us in time so we had to sign it when we picked up the keys and it was missing clauses. Moreover, we asked for our Landlord to be asked questions about pets/appliances etc, and after liaising with our Landlord we realised these questions were never asked, despite Dixons giving us “answers” to our questions. We moved in on time which is the only reason this review is not 1 star. Finally, we were asked to give them a 5 star review when we picked up our keys which we thought was poor taste given the service we received.

Had the best experience when viewing properties to rent. Tayla phoned me thursday morning about a property I had enquired about and although it wasn’t available she took all of the things we were looking for and was very accommodating at letting us view a property the same day. I have signed up for the 'fully managed' property management service at Dixons in Selly Oak. I had some minor repairs reported by a tenant (hole in wall needed plastering, bath sealant replacing and some rust on bathroom mirror). I advised the work be done by a contractor and Dixons came back quoting £800! Unable to go through with such a ridiculous quote, I did the work myself costing £30 and 1 hour of my time.
They then double-charged me the tenant sign on fees (the first tenant they found did not even stay a month) but did not tell me they were charging twice, I had to tell them and I have been chasing a refund ever since - 2 months now.
It also took 1 month and about 5 emails just to have them send me the tenancy agreement and relevant paperwork.
They have now charged upfront for 1 year of management fees (tenant paid up front) and I am trying to get this refunded and get out of this 'service' as the minimum term is 6 months.
Please do not sign up to this service expecting your property management to be easier or cheaper. My experience with Dixons has transformed my view on property management and I regret signing up to this.
I will update this review if anything improves. I had a meeting in person with the branch manager today (5/4/23) and have been given a new set of promises that I will have some money refunded.
UPDATE Nov 2023 - The nightmare continues. I've been trying to retrieve the deposit back from Dixons but the senior branch manager Tim has no clue how this works. I've been asking for 2 months, and have not wasted money protecting a deposit I do not have because they told me to.
It's absolutely laughable that I got Dixons involved to make property management easier - it has been the worst experience I've ever had being a landlord.
UPDATE Jan 2024 - Dixons refused to return any deposit so that I could continue managing the tenancy myself, so be aware of this. Instead I had to negotiate over a period of months to have the deposit returned directly to the tenant.
More recently I have asked for evidence that a right to rent check has been carried out. They have refused this on data protection grounds, even though I an also a registered data protection officer. It has been over a month since my request, and I have tried to follow up since but as usual they are not forthcoming.
As my tenant has now ended their tenancy and moved on and they finally have their deposit after months of nagging Dixons, this should hopefully be the end of it. I remain baffled at how much harder Dixons made my experience as a landlord and I wholeheartedly recommend you avoid them as a tenant or landlord. Their copy/paste response to my review was never followed up, I have been in touch with them for over a year now and they have done absolutely nothing in response to this review.

After 3 months of fighting to get our deposit back I am finally free of this letting agent and to advise nobody else suffers with them.
Raised on 26th May our washing machine didn't work, took them until 13th July to sort out a replacement.
Pressure tactics to get us to sign another 12 months with emails and calls non-stop asking us to sign for another 12 months or tell them that we're leaving when we're entirely within our rights to stay on as a rolling tenancy without them evicting us.
Getting the deposit back was an absolute joke, with the 10 days they mention in our tenancy entirely ignored and their "deposit specialist" taking almost a month to tell us anything about if they were taking deductions.
At this they tried to claim deductions such as we'd changed the locks without permission, when they had changed the locks when repairing the front door and either forgotten or not taken proper notes on this. Other claims were for cleaning and repairing a curtain rail. The curtain rail they quickly gave up on with my photos of it hanging off when I had got the keys.
When we gave up and went through our deposit protection scheme they tried to throw in more previously unmentioned cleaning charges, such as for the carpet when we had moved into a house with an incredibly stained and torn up carpet, apparently not paying all our rent when we had and even more other cleaning charges which were thrown out by the independent adjucation after my extensive records of emails, videos and photographs.
Avoid unless you like waiting a ridiculous amount of time for repairs and fighting extensively for return of your deposit.

They are the rudest estate agents iv had to deal with, iv recently just moved out of a property which I rented through Dixons & id definitely AVOID now if I was going to rent again . Timothy Reynolds was nothing but rude about me leaving threatening extra charges for leaving the property as he couldn't be botherd to read my tenancy agreement and see that under the break clauses I ended my tenancy in the correct way. All he cares about is getting his commission at the end of the day from there over priced properties. Daniella Lawmon also rude from this branch, questioning me about why I was leaving the property & also trying to threaten me with additional charges which where NOT in my agreement. They don't push the landlord on getting any repairs done they just fob you off on the phone with aload of rubbish to make sure you keep paying that rent every month so they get their commission!!. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!

I recently sold a property via Dixons and I couldn't rate them more highly. A really friendly, helpful and professional team who made the whole process feel easy and straightforward. Dale and Krystal really were brilliant. I was always able to get in touch with either very quickly and I was kept up to day with the whole process.
The only thing I would caution would be using Conveyancing Connect. While nothing to do with Dixons directly, as conveyancers they were very poor, despite my transaction being relatively simple.

I have been renting a Dixons property for 2 months, cant fault the help to get us moved in completing all the paperwork.
Just one thing when we viewed the house, there was no back door key so couldn't go in the garden ( which at the time wasnt an issue we looked out the window ).
Although the day we moved in and found the next door neighbour has a very big dog they keep in the back garden, who barks at the slightest movement out there !! We also have a dog so at the moment its a work in progress so to speak.
Thinking back maybe Dixons knew about the next door situation hence why the back door key at the time they couldn't find hhhmmmmm. A bit disappointing looking back at least we would of known the situation.

After ringing within 10 minutes I was rung back saying the Plummer was on the way and within the space of 40 minutes it was all sorted! Dixons advertised my property very fast on Rightmove, and arranged the viewing quickly after that. However, I am not impressed with the management team. The second month rent was delayed because the tenant did not set up the direct debit properly. I am paying Dixons for the full management. It should not be the landlord to call the agent saying the rent has not arrived. It should be their job to make sure tenant is paying on time if its full management.
Also, It seems like a miscommunication about the insurance policy. They said I can ask them to rent the house for me, but decide if I want to buy insurance from them. I have decide to get insurance by myself. But found out they just purchased the insurance for me without even confirm with me. I noticed on the 3rd day after they insured for me. I quickly wrote to them and called them to cancel it. They said they did. I emailed them again to confirm. They emailed me back after 12 days confirming they have cancelled it for me. But they already charged for the 1st month saying I did not read the terms and conditions properly.
The phone number of the property manager never work. The phone line Dixons provided is only instruction-like voice mail. I have not managed to find the property manager myself.
I do thank Dixons for advertising quickly. Tina is particularly helpful. But I am not so sure if they can manage the property well enough for landlord.

I can't emphasise enough that anyone looking to buy or sell a house should avoid Dixons. Furthermore, it's obvious the positive reviews on here are largely fake, with only a small number of reviews left by the contributors.
They are completely unscrupulous, and only care about making a quick sale. They lied to my face about the state of the house and coerced me into making a quick purchase, promising they would make sure the seller sort the issues out before the contracts were exchanged. When I had concerns about they house they brushed them off as being unreasonable, and I've have many, many issues since then.

The background of the vendors we were buying the property from has been very complicated and had multiple challenges, however with the help of the team at Dixons we have managed to successfully get everything over the line and collect the keys for the property.

My partner went to Dixons in person , and he got blown off again. We are still waiting that someone does something about everything that's wrong in our house.

I am giving the highest recommendation to Dixons Selly Oak as they found the buyer of my house in 9 (NINE!!!) days. As a scientist I made my own research to decide which estate agency is the best. First, based on Zoopla recommendations, I invited agents from 13 estate agencies from South, West and Central Birmingham to valuate my house. They brought their brochures and lists of properties sold recently for comparison. Most of them provided fairly similar valuation values (differences were within £20,000), although the difference between the lowest and the highest was £60,000!!!! Most of the agents were very kind and friendly. The differences appeared with the agency fees and the selling process. Some agencies had rather low fees in comparison to others (below £1000), but needed to be paid upfront with additional payments for accompanying viewings. Not all of them offered the viewings during the weekends. Dixons Selly Oak maybe does not have the lowest fees, but believe me, they were not the highest. In addition to that Dixons offers professional photographer included in the fees (some agencies offer that for some extra fee). I also checked my chosen top three agents sending them emails from the another email account requesting details of another properties. Dixons answered immediately, asking when I would like to view those properties. The other estate company (a fantastic small family estate agency) answered in the evening (which was understandable, as they are much smaller), but the third one (a big one) did not answer at all. In addition Dixons have many branches, and lots of contacts, which is really important if you want to sell your house fast. All of that convinced me to choose Dixons. The viewings were always on time, and people had lots of time to ask questions :) Finally, at this point I would like to thank Jan Sturley, the Property Sales Co-Oridinator who called/send me emails every week with the updates and chased the solicitors. She made the process of selling a house less stressful for sure :)

I am a landlord.
I assumed that because Dixon’s is a big name and reputable estate agent, my property would be safe in their hands. I was wrong.
I received a call telling me the current tenants will be leaving however they are unable to let my property as the tenants have left it in an un-lettable state.
These tenants found and vetted by Dixon’s have left my house damaged, vandalised and dirty. These are the kind of tenants Dixon’s have put into my property.
To add insult to injury, they send me a quote for thousands of pounds to put the property back into a lettable state.
I am still chasing them to get the deposit from the tenants, no luck so far.
I have decided to take back the management of my property because whilst Dixon’s is happy to charge and take letting and management fee from myself and the tenants they are incapable of providing a good service to landlords.
If you are a landlord, I would personally advise against giving your house to Dixon’s. I would suggest instead you find a team of builders and manage the property yourselves.
This experience has put me off agents and I am thoroughly disappointed with Dixon’s and the costly bill I have been left with as a result of their tenants, not to mention the empty property which I cannot let.

Please do not approach this branch of DIXons. Absolutely unprofessional staff. They have zero knowledge of customer service. I was unfortunately a tenant with them for an year. They even forgot to hand over the house keys to me on the day of tenancy agreement. I was left alone locked up in a new house for about an hour, because it had an auto lock system. As a property developer i deal with literally hundreds of estate agents and Dixons in Selly Oak are by far one the best. I have purchased 3 houses through them now and have had nothing but quality service from them. In particular Charlotte has been great, always well informed, knowledgeable and bubbly. I have worked with DIXONS for many years.
I have purchased properties through DIXONS and also sold properties through them.
I can not fault the company. Great Service! The team are hard working and most importantly honest.
I am sure those of us who have moral values and ethics would chose to go to a honest company rather then a cheap company.
You get what you pay for!
I hope to continue many more years of a wonderful working relationship with Dixons.

Just picking up the keys for the 36th house purchase in 3 years. It's always a joy to deal with Dixons @ Selly Oak. We've developed a good working relationship with the team who are easily able to identify the type of properties that my investors want for the portfolios. Particular mention to Sue McKnight, Jan, Tim & Georgina, their professional and engaging manner makes me keep coming back for more. Easily the best in Selly Oak by a huge margin and certainly the best Dixon branch I've dealt with Nationwide.

We met up with a number of agents who all seemed to be offering the same service, using the big websites like Rightmove and Zoopla. We decided to try a smaller company who seemed very enthusiastic and were also cheaper and even offered a free energy performance certificate.
Unfortunately, the property was marketed with them for over 3 months without any serious offers close to the asking price.
We decided to try Dixons next and met up with Julia (Assistant manager of the Selly Oak branch) who explained they had access to a larger number of buyers as they had more offices around the area, and also they had a process to validate the buyers to ensure if anyone made an offer, they would be serious and in a position to proceed. At first, I thought it a was marketing talk as all the agents seemed to be saying the same things, but Julia was very true to her word. Within a few weeks, they had found a cash buyer at a price level that broke the ceiling for the road.
A special thanks to Jan Sturley who was there afterwards to keep an eye on the process, dealing with the Solicitors and being a reassuring point of contact.
