I found my current flat with Harmens on Zoopla. Everything was too good to be true. I wanted to check the reviews, but the reviews were 1-star or so. I met them in person; they were nice and I wanted to trust them. Finally, I signed the contract. They are actually really really good. If you like one of their flats, I'd say, go for it.... Do not use this agent. My girlfriend and i had arranged to rent a property in the area, holding deposit paid about a month prior to moving in and then came moving day. Even before the final contract signing we had had problems, trying to move the date, minimal contact etc. Once we arrived on move in day nobody seemed to be 100% sure of what they were doing. They were even unsure what paperwork to sign, once our money was paid (over £3000) we were told to just wait for the manager to arrive with the keys. When the manager arrived we were quickly told we could not move into the property (with 2 moving vans of possessions, money paid AND contracts signed). Why? The landlord had not agreed to it, the property was a building site (painters and decorators still in) and the landlord was not contactable. It's worth pointing out that a large amount of blame does lie with the landlord however the agents had got us to the point of moving in with ZERO written agreement from the landlord. We were offered an alternate flat, 5 minute walk from the agents we were shown ANOTHER building site, loose tiles on the floor, power tools and dust sheets everywhere. And this was our ''only alternative''. Amongst the forced 1000 apologies there was never any responsibility taken, they were simply angry that they were in the situation no thought given to the fact that myself and partner were now homeless with 2 moving vans outside. We left after receiving our money back and will be seeking further compensation. Do not use this agent. They pointed out that this situation could ''happen to anyone and unfortunately it has happened to you'' so if your comfortable risking homelessness then use Harmens, if not use any other agent....
