After a rocky start to our house sale with another estate agents I spoke to Jack Ashton from Hills, he was involved with the sale of the house we were purchasing, the sale of our house had fallen through so Jack said Hills would take us on, within a few weeks our house was sold again. We have found Hills- Jack in particular - to be extremely helpful, answered all our questions and enabled us to keep our original choice of house throughout.

Worst regret was choosing this company to sell our home as soon as the initial bit is done the customer service is terrible. The staff at the Swinton office are rude. A lad called jack just answers the phone like he's picking it up to his mates. The manager Chris he will argue with you and tell you to stop ringing. Even after explaining why I rang back being due to my diagnosed disability, which was why I needed to clarify something again, his response was that I need to learn how to control this matter. They only care about customers for the money, nothing else.

Our Family switched property agents to Hills Estate Agents as we needed a results driven agency to sell our house in this uncertain economic climate.
We wanted our house to sell to completion. It was a well maintained house in a strategic location and it was selling at a competitive price.
However, we needed a strong marketing strategy to surmount the challenges of an uncertain economic outlook.
After switching property agents to Hills, the house sold within a week. The buyers made a good offer and the house sale was completed quickly.

What a fantastic service from start to finish.
The selling and offer process ran smoothly and our house was sold after 4 weeks.
As we haven’t ever sold a property before so we had no idea what went into the sale after we had accepted the offer.
We soon realised that this was where all the finer details happened. It was a long few months chasing and sending paper work back and forth but without the after sales advisor- specifically Rebecca Nicholson who was looking after our file we wouldn’t have been able to get it finally completed.
It was a really long process mainly because it was such a long chain and we eventually had to break the chain.
Rebecca Nicholson guided us through every step of the way and chased and chased for us daily. When she said that she would get back to us, that’s exactly what she did. She would always send me updates when promised.

many thanks for the house sale completion. I need to point out the staff were really friendly and engaging before my offer was accepted. I put an offer in excess of £20,000 above asking price. I was a first time buyer and needed a few days longer to organise myself. The first week after acceptance of offer, I needed time to organise solicitor. this took me 10 days. The staff would ring frequently and abruptly questioning me about this, telling me this needs to be done ASAP.
I understand the process needed to flow. The sale was completed in 10 weeks which I am glad about. However, I would have appreciated a level of empathy and understanding. There was no need to cause panic. Hence two star.

I wa struggling to sell my property with another estate agents I wasn’t even getting viewers through the door Taylor at the Swinton office obviously had noticed this and personally posted a invitation through my door to see if they could help.
I gave them a call Chris came to visit me explained by thr finish and standard of my house this should of sold by now I allowed them to market the property the house went on the market with hills on a Thursday by social media which was great they used videos and improved the pictures by the following Saturday Chris did a group viewing I received an offer well over the asking price which we accepted yes they sold the house within 3 days whereas it had been on the market with previous estate agent 6 weeks from start to finish couldn’t fault Chris, Taylor and the team

Used Hills for quite a complex sale, came across various hurdles and quite a lot of what felt like dead ends. Taylor always remained calm and professional but added a nice touch of friendliness that made us feel we weren’t just “another sale”. Always taking my bajillion calls and answering my constant emails. Taylor made a difficult and at some points what felt like a never ending sale happen. a guy called chris and labelled himself as the executive director of the company called on 4 apr. he just further insist that i was wrong in the first place. he missed out the fact that his colleague agreed to call back but never call back. promised to reserve a place but never. may i know who had broken the promise here?
this guy called chris then written a comment here accusing me not being polite, but he never look at himself in the mirror. i have been calm and polite to take the call, and found out that he is just calling again to defend his colleagues so i said, " let's not waste our time as we are doing real business."
if you want to experience rude service, you are more than welcome to try this agency. with chris as the so called executive director, obviously he "allows" his colleagues to be as rude as him.
shocked to find a company who promote someone like this as the executive director who doesn't know how to respect a customer.

when you call to arrange a viewing, this estate agency has a tendency to say they are busy dealing with the vendor and they will call you back to arrange a viewing for you, and then you heard nothing, when you call back the other day, they said they have put you on the waiting list, and therefore you miss out the opportunity to view a property.
this had happened to me twice, even their advertisement or video is just out and you call to arrange a viewing. when you explained to them about the situation, they will just say it's fully booked and ask you to xxxx off. (as reflected from the behaviour of a colleague called Jack)
next time when you hear they will call you back, do not trust that. arrange the viewing immediately or you will miss out the opportunity again.

As first time buyers we obviously had a LOT of questions and the team at Hills were always available to speak to us and advise. This personal touch made what is known to be a really stressful experience, actually really easy and straight forward!
We had a couple of instances where some issues came up, but the team at Hills mediated the conversation between us and the vendor and stopped any delays from happening, meaning we could complete on the agreed day.
10 out of 10 service with no hidden costs… could not recommend highly enough for any first time buyer!!

I attempted to buy a house through hills throughout most of 2022 and I can honestly say that the customer service was 2nd to none. No amount of viewings was too much, they were on the ball with responses and they always answered the phone. Taylor and the guys were aways accommodating. I think they even make collecting your keys a special moment too with champagne etc. Compare this with Bridgfords, who I eventually bought through, who dont even answer the phone and hate the idea of further viewings.
The only issue I have with Hills, and the reason for 3 stars, is that when I first viewed the house there was another for sale on Wellington Road, Swinton. When discussing this with the estate agent she said "between you and me it's got structural damage, stick with this". This made me feel very uneasy as I was already worried that estate agents don't disclose everything they know about a property.
Low and behold the house I was buying through Hills fell through as a structural survey revealed structural damage that had been covered up by the owner. I don't know if Hills knew about this but after the previous comments I genuinely wouldn't be surprised.
Like I said though, Hills lead the market in Salford for Customer Service.

Disappointing and unprofessional.
We recently had an offer accepted to purchase a home through Hills, to keep things simple we agreed to market our home with them to keep the whole process in sync.
The company director photographed our home himself using an iphone with the pictures coming out like a child had taken them. Whilst an agent is supposed to send you the photos and description to approve this didn't happen and it was posted directly onto rightmove etc. The team were particularly unresponsive to calls on the account that "they are very busy" .
Due to the poor service after a few weeks we stated our intention to switch agent. The Director informed us that by doing so, he would restart the process of viewings and inviting offers at the property we had agreed to purchase. I was flabbergasted at how childish and unprofessional this threat was and had no hesitation listing with an alternative agent, who sold our property within two weeks. Hills did make good on their threat and sold the property to an alternate buyer, whilst this is disappointing, I wouldn't wish to conduct a purchase with such an unscrupulous company. Moral of the story....If your selling a house in Salford / Swinton / Monton... use Keenans NOT Hills, their approach and service levels are poles apart.

Forward a request via Rightmove.co.uk to view a property and made it clear I want to be emailed and not called. I was called by Amy, had to ask her to email me. She did do that and stated they are not able to arrange viewings via emails. I queried why, as this is not an issue for other estate agents and as a disabled person, it allows me to process information better. No further contact from her and a reply to my request to see policy around this. Tried to reach out to the office and asked for branch manager to get back to me via email. Chris rang me today. I explained again that I prefer to communicate via email. He ignored me and kept speaking without acknowledgement of my request. I had to repeat myself 3-4 times and he then said that he would email me. He hasn't. As a disabled person, their operations are discriminatory and rude. There is no need in a world where GDPR is a serious issue, for contact preferences to be ignored and dismissed.
Update: Chris you could ask all the questions in an email surely. The fact that despite my very clear request to communicate via email and valid reasons behind this, such as work and disability you ignored me several times. The fact is you exercised bias and acted discriminatory.

My son had used previously Hills and dealt with Chris so I used them on his recommendation. Unfortunately my experience was not as good as his. There was very little communication with Taylor who was dealing with the sale of my deceased fathers property in fact the most communication was me telling her she had sent the wrong information to me. In fact I think only spoke to her on one other occasion and that was her telling me the agreed completion date wasn’t going ahead with very little explanation why. I have read some good reviews so maybe the Covid situation and the stamp duty has meant estate agents are busier and operating differently but it was not the best experience.

I feel they were more concerned with pleasing the people buying our house. There was a few problems we had along the way with our onward purchase but received no support, intact just got added stress. I think Hills need to remember who is paying for their service.

I am currently looking to buy a property and would recommend everybody avoid Hills Residential as I had an awful experience with them. We found a property that we liked and put in an offer - only for the offer to be rejected for no reason and the estate agent stating I had been in contact with the seller via text. This is a complete fabrication. I have not met the seller and do not have any of their contact information.
I have no idea why they would just make a story up to get out of selling to me. I do not know if it's the agency lying and causing the seller a potential lost sale, or if it's the seller themselves (although they should not know who I am when the offer was put in). What is obvious is that for one reason or another, someone doesn't want me buying this property and they don't want to give the real reason why.
I did get back in touch with them to find out more information and to see if there had been a mistake, but they just did nothing and it seems like they've also unsubscribed me from their mailing list hoping I just go away.
Anyway, if you want to be lied to and have your time wasted - go with Hills Residential. If you want to buy a house and get decent customer service - go elsewhere.

The sales team came in and gave it the old spiel but the house was already sold after we gave them a buyer.......BUT the reason for the review is Taylor Norris has been absolutely fantastic during the process. Its been very difficult managing a complex chain and she's gone above and beyond by giving me very detailed updates. Shes really polite, friendly and knowledgeable. She even did all of this during her days off.
She's the person you deal with once the sales team have done their bit and personally I believe she's made this sale so much easier for us. Honestly I couldn't speak more highly of her for the service she has given us.

I have NEVER experienced such utter incompetence in my entire life. As a tenant, the property inventory was not done correctly and we were allowed to move into a property with no hot water or heating, a week later this was only partially sorted. Our bank details have been lost twice, personal details have been confused with other tenants, and the company has withheld a rent refund from the landlord on account of their 'phone lines not working to process online banking.' I have escalated my issues with Hills to at least one regulatory body as well as Trading Standards. Use at your own peril either as a tenant or a landlord.

Overall my experience with Hills was good. I had one bad experience when viewing a property, where the estate agent was rude. I also find that when viewing properties with Hills, the estate agents do not show you around the property. They leave you to look around yourself, I found this unhelpful as i am a first time buyer and I would have appreciated it if the estate agent showed me around and gave me some more information about the property. In conclusion I would use Hills in the future if I ever had a need as they are very efficient when it comes to booking in viewings.

I had to inform them, my tenant hadn't paid their rent for two whole months.
Has only ever called me back once, even though every phone calls end with a promise to get back in touch.

They're good. Really good. Honestly, I can't fault them.
Things started, as they usually do, with a viewing where we got plenty of time to look around the house, meet the agent, talk to the vendor and so on. After that we went to the office and were offered a drink, and had a sit down meeting with their mortgage adviser who was extremely knowledgeable and spent over an hour explaining everything to us in a way we could understand. Things felt good and we moved forward.
About two months into the process our conveyancing began to hit problems. Nothing to do with Hills, and too complicated to go into here. The point is, Hills were there for us throughout.
The level and standard of communication was exceptionally good. I think the longest I had to wait to get through to a a human when calling up was about 10 seconds, and I was usually through to our property consultant (Lauren) in less than a minute. If they weren't available I was always given the option to leave a message, stay on hold, or get a call back, and even then I didn't have to wait long before I got what I needed.
The last month, seven months into the purchase, was absolute hell. This could quite easily have been made orders of magnitude more frustrating if it weren't for the staff at Hills. Solicitors were chased by email and phone almost daily at times and the Hills staff were always calm, always pleasant, and took their time to listen and understand the issues.
After we withdrew from the purchase there was no sudden change of attitude, no silence, no pushy sales tactics. Just the same level of service, an expression of good wishes, and an offer to help if there was any further assistance we needed.
These guys are seriously, seriously good, and I'd go back to them any day.

My first experience was poor due to lack of communication concerning an offer on a terraced house in Salford (Riverside) which turned out to be a waste of time as no information was given throughout the whole process and I had to chase you many times to find out if had been sold.
I did give you another chance and I found the experience better than the first time around although I still felt the viewings and guidance given were not satisfactory compared with other agencies. I found most of the other agencies booking viewings separately and including a walk-through of the house rather than mass-viewings without any explanation. You're agents did not know anything about any of the houses I've viewed. I always had to wait for information which should have already been gathered before listing the property and I must say most of the time I didn't get the information back as either the house was sold or you didn't ask the vendor. I've decided to award you three stars due to Wendy sending me the latest properties and booking viewings in no time which was really helpful.
I've ended up buying a property with another agency mainly because of the better service and guidance they provided. No waste of time with them as they provided guidance in placing a valid offer and they kept me up to date throughout the whole process.
My only advice is to provide a better quality service going forward focusing more on the customers rather than just selling the property. Best of luck

Lauren Lomas was very helpful to us as buyers by listening carefully to our requirements and contacting us when Hills Estate Agents received instructions of properties that may be of interest to us. She arranged a viewing for one straight away when it came to market, and I'm delighted to say that we have now purchased it.
