Me and my partner came into contact with hopson property services when looking for our first home. After numerous calls spanning over the course of a month and promising us many callbacks, we eventually decided to look elsewhere. Whenever you call their number the member of staff you get through to is utterly useless, would give zero stars if I could. Absolutely terrible service!

I would like to give a zero stars if I could because I just feel like they just wasted my time. Please just tell me the property is not available or that you don't want to do business with me and I'll move on, but don't keep me on hold without intention to ever let me know that this is not happening.
I enquired about the property I wanted to rent and was advised that they have to confirm viewing times with current tenants and they would call me back. Well, they didn't, so I called to follow up. The person on the line said they didn't have a confirmation yet for the viewings. I asked them what it means for me and what the next steps are. They said to wait, that they would be in touch when viewings times are confirmed, likely after the end of the month as that is when the tenant moves out. It's not the end of the month yet, nor did they contact me with viewing times and on their website the property is now let agreed. No communication from their part to let me know at all. Unprofessional behaviour, very frustrating for someone who is looking for home but I guess that just show NOT to look for home with them.

Hopsons were great to have as my agents whilst I stayed in one of their properties for over 2 years. They were very helpful when dealing with an alcoholic and vicious upstairs neighbour, very happy to help when I was struggling with mould in the property and getting anything needed fixing to be fixed too. However, once I had left the property (due to moving areas as were expecting a baby) they had told the new tenant lies that the issues with the upstairs neighbour was because of us throwing too many parties and having a baby (I find it funny as this baby they’re talking about is currently still in my belly) just to reel the new tenant in ASAP and they are now hearing the screaming and shouting from the upstairs neighbours.
Hopsons are great when you are with them but be prepared to be ‘slagged’ off once your tenancy has ended.

I viewed a flat with them told me call them right away and I did them I run around getting everything they asked for and emailed it ASAP and been waiting for them to get back but didn't until today and then told me I didn't get it .and they tell me they don't have anything else not happy with how I was treated by Jane and the team please don't use them.they will mug you off

Unless you have low standards or choose between their houses or the street then maybe consider staying at one of their houses. My housemates and I stayed in one of their houses for 2 years and I've never experience poor service from an agency.
Their communication with us and with their own staff was honestly shocking, when we had mice the first year, they never resoved it, even after we moved out and recently we tried to get our deposit back and they were going to charge us for damages that existed before we moved in and for not giving back our house keys eventhough their is video evidence of us giving them in and it wasn't until I repeatedly sent them emails that they agreed to give our money back.
Their standards are in literal hell and they haven't apologised for this either.

Easy to find from the High Street, opposite a large public car park and within 5 minutes walk from Southend Central Station and close to main bus terminal. Staff are friendly and polite.

I chose Hopson Property Services to market what had been the family home for more than 50 years.
It was, and still is, a very attractive property, but now required a large amount of renovation work.
Geoff Holloway impressed right from the start. He made by far the best initial pitch, coming up with a clear, logical plan of how the property would be marketed.
As soon as the property went on sale there was a lot of interest, with multiple viewings arranged in the first few days, and the best offer was accepted one week later.
I can’t fault Geoff’s handling of the process – it helped to take a lot of the stress away.

I’ve been a tenant with Hopsons for just over a year now, and couldn’t be happier what a brilliant company Hopsons are, can’t fault them at all, properties are mostly long term which is brilliant as I don’t want to move again, sensible rent prices, maintenance team are 1st class. Lack of customer service. I paid 260 pounds of agency fees to apply for a property. After 20 days I founded in my phone a voice message that said Another tenant was chosen. Is that a real explanation? Can an agency keep fees from different potential tenants and do the process for the same property? Unbelievable ????????

Took over two months and several ignored emails for them to return our deposits after we moved out. We felt like we had to chase them several times to get anything done, whether it be receiving an answer to a query from them or requesting help with maintenance or repair. Wholly unprofessional service showing lack of communication with and care for their customers.

Hopsons stole my deposit.
I handed them back a cleaner flat than I moved into with the exception of minor wear and tear. They charged me over £400!! and made me wait over two weeks to get the remainder back.
Don’t pay you last months rent that’s the only way you’re going to get your deposit back.

Appalling property management. As tenants we repeatedly have to chase works that have to be taken care of. They use one man to manage their entire property portfolio for repairs and we regularly have to call up to three times to get any form of update or movement. Most recently my husband reported a bad leak on the wall of my young sons' bedroom where it had blown the plaster it was that bad. We heard nothing, then they disappeared off for the Christmas break with no update and even now they're not back in the office meaning by the time they have (hopefully) returned it will be a good two weeks since it was first reported. When I ask to speak to Richard to complain, I'm told he doesn't speak to people. I just get an email from him sent from a colleague's email account. When I asked for them to justify their appalling service, Wendy's exact words were "I'm not paid lots of money to do this job".

Horrific customer service and experience when my husband & I were trying to let out a flat via Hopson. We never received 1 phone call or email with any update on the process. We were left in the dark for absolutely everything. The members of staff don’t seem to want to take any responsibility for anything neither do they wish to help provide you with any information or guidance! Absolutely terrible, barely deserve 1 star

Useless!! Arrange a viewing with them giving them all the info they need regarding the tenant and they cancel our appointment less than an hour before the viewing changing the requirements and leaving us in the lurch thanks Hopsons. .great job!!
