I would highly, highly recommend Hunters!
We initially went with another estate agent (for reasons I honestly can’t remember now), but unfortunately they seemed to bring round anyone and everyone, clearly just to meet viewing quotas.
We decided to move over to Hunters and only wish we had done so sooner. The difference was immediately clear – they brought through genuinely interested parties who were actually suited to the property, and supported us all the way through to a successful exchange of contracts.
Throughout the entire process, we were fully supported by Brenda, who truly couldn’t have done more for us. Communication was clear, proactive, and reassuring, and we always knew where we stood. She kept everything moving and helped avoid delays. I also have a small baby, and she adapted her communication style to suit my needs – including sending voice notes – which was hugely appreciated.
Brenda is incredible, and the service from Hunters has been outstanding from start to finish.

Richard was fantastic, great knowledge of the area and really sold hunters to us. Sadly the agents showing the property had poor communication and one didn’t even know the asking price when showing a potential buyer. I know the market isn’t great at the moment but this figure should be known. Due to the poor communication we decided to list with another firm. I’m sure if you had a higher valued property that then Richard managed it would be a different experience

Landlords and Tenants, Beware. Poor management-Poor accountability.
UPDATED AFTER RICHARD'S RESPONSE:
Richard’s public response reinforces my original point: a tendency to deflect, minimise, and hide behind legalistic jargon rather than take accountability. Suggesting that my review exists only because I “didn’t get the compensation I wanted” is misleading. In reality, I followed the standard process — raising concerns, seeking a fair goodwill resolution (a common step before escalating to The Property Ombudsman) — and only posting publicly when that offer was declined.
His reply sidesteps the substance of my complaint: that since June 2023, under Hunters Catford’s direct management, service was poor, key repairs were delayed or left incomplete, and communication was often dismissive. The repeated emphasis on a legal separation between branches is irrelevant to the lived experience of a tenant whose home was continuously managed under the Hunters brand, with no transparency that accountability would be reset.
The review — now supported by photographic evidence — reflects the reality of enduring these issues, not a misunderstanding of ownership structures. The attached kitchen photos show the state Hunters Catford allowed to persist for years (including time under the previous branch). Both offices, operating under the same brand, repeatedly led me to believe the works were being quoted or arranged year after year. The first cupboard image is from check-in; the others are from today, 12 August 2025 — after “repairs” were supposedly completed — and only discovered when the professional cleaner attended this afternoon.
It is precisely this approach to “managing” concerns — deflection, delay, and reframing instead of resolving — that makes accountability so elusive for tenants.
I don’t like leaving bad reviews and originally rated my experience two stars, I had to bring it down to one, this situation is unbereable and highly stressful!
ORIGINAL:
I’ll soon be leaving a tenancy at a fully managed property under the Hunters brand, where I’ve lived for five years. Over that time, I raised various issues- verbally, in writing, and with documentation, many of which remained unresolved across a management transition from Hunters Surrey Quays to Hunters Catford.
In response to a formal complaint I submitted near the end of my tenancy, the Catford office provided a list of repair records and stated that this “does not look like a failure to act.” From a tenant’s point of view, however, the experience included repeated follow-ups, delays, and discrepancies such as repairs being marked as completed (like regrouting) that were never actually carried out, despite being raised at the time with photo evidence.
I was told that the Catford office “cannot be held liable” for any issues predating June 2023, due to the legal separation between offices. That distinction, however, was never made clear to me as a tenant. The branding, communication, and service appeared continuous, and no explanation was ever provided that accountability would reset. Practically, the effect was that unresolved problems persisted, regardless of which office was technically responsible.
Much of the coordination fell to me, and long-term issues particularly in the bathroom and kitchen (noted as ‘poor’ in agency inspections) took a toll on day-to-day comfort and wellbeing. When works were eventually scheduled, there was little flexibility, and I was not consulted about availability for the disruptive nature of this. Repairs were followed shortly after by notice that the property would be sold.
I’m sharing this in good faith to help future tenants and landlords understand the difference between a documented repair timeline and the lived experience of trying to get things resolved especially when internal structures make it easy for accountability to shift. The tone of responses, while professional in parts, often minimized or reframed valid tenant concerns.
I hope this offers useful context to others navigating managed tenancies under the Hunters brand.

I have never experienced such rudeness and unprofessionalism from one of the staff who works there, Brenda. I originally called Hunters as I was inquiring about a property that I wanted to know more information about and possibly view, to which Brenda answered the phone. She proceeded to tell me that the property details I 'm relaying to her can't be right so I proceeded to tell her over the phone what I can see on my screen, such as the price and the full address. Her response was so CONDESCENDING, telling me it's impossible that this property is on the list and she should know as she's the one who puts the properties on the website, instead of her to just simply say she cannot find it. She then said she'll call me back. 20 minutes later I get no call back so I call Hunters to which Brenda answered again. I repeated to her the name of the property to which she stated I'm pronouncing it wrong, and not saying it properly, and that the 's' is silent. Excuse me? How disgustingly ill-mannered she was, and even after that she couldn't find the property. It wasn't until THIRTY MINUTES LATER she found the property to then inform me that it's in the process of being sold. She offered to send me similar properties which of course I declined because this experience put me right off working with Hunters in Catford in terms of potentially moving into one of their properties. I would highly recommend the managers at this branch to rethink who they hire as they're clearly turning away potential clients with their rude and rubbish attitude.

Unfortunately, we were unable to sell our house. Our experience was impacted when our main estate agent unexpectedly left the business, and we were not informed until we noticed they had left our group chat and we had to enquire about what was going on. Communication and follow up with potential buyers was lacking, and we frequently had to chase for updates. Additionally, we were tied into a 12-week contract and ideally we would have switched earlier. We’ve now decided to list with a different estate agent that doesn’t lock clients in.

I have been chasing them to arrange viewing on a property to rent. Sent all our details. Called a few times but no one calling back despite the assurance from an adviser at their office.
Not even a minimum standard of customer service let alone it be any good. First impression, Not a good one.
I hope that they will improve on it. Good that I am not in desperate situation to move the house.
For the service I have received so far, I could give them a broken star but not a star but the problem is that I have to choose at least one star to be able to post my review

This branch gives the worst service to clients. The flat was damp until the walls are black, water dripping down the sides, condensation at its highest level, pipes in roof burst with water gushing in flooding the two neighbours next door. No gas or electric or hot water since September 2022. Yet the property is deemed fit to live in by this company and member of staff who is supposed to be looking after the property.
They do not care about clients but but the landlord first and the money that they are collecting. Landlords cover up damp paint and rents in the summer when the damp doesn't show. Hunters support this terrible BEHAVIOUR.STAY CLEAR AND DO NOT RENT FROM THEM.!!!

Dear Richard :Thank you for responding and it is good to realise that you know who I am. I have supported my friend from the beginning. Made polite phone calls and sent responsible emails to your company: despite change of staff.
I went to the Catford office to collect the keys and the staff member told me the property was liveable once electricity and water is turned on. Once I saw the state of the property I further contacted her and she stood by comments.
It wasonly when the council got involved that verbal response appeared to be going in the right direction.
Again I have evidence including pictures and dates so you can support your staff when poor judgement and decisions were made.

We sold our house with this agent. My first impression was fantastic: The valuer spent well over an hour with me at the valuation appointment, and I felt very heard and considered as a result. This approach, alongside the wealth of data supplied, got Hunters the job over other agents. Unfortunately this initial attentiveness did not last. When I really needed team members to help push for exchange and completion, I found staff members significantly hands off, which is in direct contrast to the reviews I read about the agent on an independent review website before signing up. For this reason, I would not use this agent in future, or recommend them.
On the plus side, the photos and brochure looked great, and I found the team helpfully communicative at the viewings stage.

I went with Hunters Catford because of the comprehensive nature of the valuation appointment: it took more than an hour, and I felt truly listened to by the branch manager, Richard. The brochure/advertising was well produced and I was pleased with the range of marketing channels used. Unfortunately for us though, the initial onboarding was the highlight of our experience. We found them virtually non-existent once our sale was agreed, which was when we needed help the most. For this reason we would not use them again and cannot recommend them.

Hunters was selling my apartment in Catford and it was amazing working with Barry & Richard! They kept bringing in the prospective buyers quite regularly and kept me updated on the progress all the time. They found buyers within a couple of months which was quite good provided the market is booming more for houses now than for flats. After the offer was accepted Barry kept checking on me regularly and kept me posted on any developments with the matter and providing good advice where necessary.
