Have had a good and professional experience through the years with Northwood/Pure/Bassetts. Any problems have been dealt with in a timely manner even when on a couple of occassions the tennants proved quite difficult. Stuart & Maryam have always been very approachable on points of possible conflict within the industry and how best to handle various situations - have always called back when initially unavailable - generally a rarity in many businesses! The staff have always been efficient and resolved
any issues that have become a problem. Pari has always been very helpful at all times as have Nathan/James & Alex.

I had a very professional and well-organized experience with the team. As someone who is relatively new to tenancy procedures and the TDS deposit process, I found their support extremely helpful. I raised an appeal regarding some proposed deductions from my deposit, and the matter was handled fairly and efficiently.
Alfie Lawrence, a member of the team, was particularly helpful—he took the time to patiently explain the process, maintained a positive attitude throughout, and ensured the issue was resolved promptly. Thanks to Alfie’s assistance, a fair agreement was reached, and I received a reasonable refund of my deposit after deductions. I truly appreciate the support.

After renting for years. This is by far the worst lettings agent I have been an tenant of. Flat was dirty when I moved carpets all stained.
And if you have an emergency as a tenant you're on your own. Meant to have a contact number thats there office. If you call after its closed. They give contact numbers and then it hangs up.

Absolute worse agent to rent through if you are a tenant. Impossible to get them to sort any issues, we had issues for a year and then got told we hadn't reported it after screenshots of evidence that we had reported it a year before they will send someone out to look but then still take 3 months to do anything. When it came to leaving they tried to take our deposit and were totally unreasonable sending nasty emails trying to scare monger us with apparent additional issues with the property after our checkout inspection we finally took it to the tenancy deposit scheme adjudicator who deemed bassets as being unreasonable and gave us most of our deposit back. Definitely worth fighting them for deposits as they just try and take your money for their own benefit would never do anything through this company again!

Absolutely horrendous towards tenants. Extremely predatory behaviour when it comes to returning any of your deposit. Resolution of property issues may take months, up to years. Northwood have a captive audience when it comes to renters and treat their renters as sub-human at times. You could pay your rent on time for years with this lender and leave your rented property in pristine condition, they will still try to squeeze money from you. Absolutely aweful bunch. Don't expect great communication either with booking of viewings when it's near the end of your tenancy. Renters are "less than" to them.
Would give negative stars if possible.

We are landlords of a property and have rented it through Northwood Bassets for nearly 10 years. This year we had a catastrophic flood which meant the tenants had to move out and the whole property needed drying out and renovating. During this stressful time Ginny Otton was amazing. She handled all of the liaising with various tradesmen and managed the whole situation brilliantly. She gave a realistic timescale to get the property occupied again and kept us updated throughout. After 8 months the property is now occupied again.
Our interactions with Ginny have been totally positive throughout this stressful time and we would recommend Northwood Bassets.

Coming into 3rd week since we moved into this property. We worked with Ben Saunders who was extremely helpful with our application process. He was easy to communicate with and we always get quick response from him. Luke showed us around the property before moving in and he was just as nice and helpful. The inventory book Ben created waa thorough and clear, we felt everything was uncovered and it was helpful for us with identifying if anything was missed out. We have a few issues with this house, but Ben and his team in the office are quite prompt in taking actions, and it is being taken care of by contractors who are also great. Still waiting for a few bits to be corrected but we are have been here for 3 weeks, we feel we are looked after well and honestly could only say wonderful things about the team at Northwood especially Ben who has been such a tremendous help in our journey into renting thus far!

I have been renting with them for a couple of months now, and when I first move in all bins were completely full, recyclable, glass and general. Also I immediately noticed that I had a leak in the kitchen, which was quickly fixed, but other problems are still not fixed after over 2 months.
First, someone from the water company came to check the meter, but neither him or me were able to find it. When I asked the manager, I got the reply that it was under the sink, but it is not there. There is a small glued area, where it is probably located, but it is impossible to open without breaking it, and obviously I cannot break things. Last week the manager came to check, about a month and half after I first raise the problem. She told me that she should check with the landlord, but I haven't heard back yet.
Lastly, one of the hobs doesn't work, see picture I took the day I started living here, and even if the contractor came about a month ago to fix another issue, and took measurements of the hobs, I still have the non working hob.

It is now ten years since we entered the buy to let market to bolster our inadequate pensions. At the time we were highly recommended to talk with Bassets Lettings. There at Reception was Valentina Milos and all this time later she is still a constant on the Staff and is now the Accounts Administrator. She is typical of the superb, attentive service we get from all the team.
Well done to Northwood, who now incorporate Bassets, for running such a first class operation and retaining invaluable staff such as Valentina.

All our communication is by mail but she always brings a personal touch. Bassets/Northwood have just let a further two properties for me.
As always, the support from the whole team has been of the highest standard.
Ben is a new member to the team but it seemed as if he had been doing this all his life. Excellent work as always from Ben, Sarah, Luke and Archie and Valentina.
I have been working with Bassets as a full time landlady since 2007.
Almost all of my current tenants have been found by Bassets and of late I have not bothered to approach any other letting agents at all.
I have attempted to work with several, but Bassets are heads and shoulders above the rest.
I feel like they are almost friends, but I know their professionalism is impeccable and I know they will never deceive me or try to manipulate me.
I can`t say that of all agents at all.
Their original founder, David Clayton, has sadly now retired. He was a man of impeccable integrity, but the management of Bassets and the entire team have held onto his ethos very firmly and working with them is always a pleasure.

2024: We have just had another 5-star experience with Northwoods-Bassets. Luke and Ginny just handled the exit of a previous tenant and the start of a new tenancy with a lovely professional couple in just over 10 days over the Christmas and New Year holidays. They were really amazing and very, very professional: every small detail taken care of. This was a truely 5-star experience for us and we highly recommend them!
2022: We have let and managed our properties ourselves over the last 5 years, but after hearing hugely positive opinions about the Bassets Team, we decided to give them a try. We have been very, very impressed. They have taken time to explain options and landlord obligations and have found solid tenants within 9 days of getting the keys. Quentin, Luke, Jamie, and Fiona have been extremely professional and helpful. Based on this initial experience, we highly recommend them. I recently purchased a house via Northwood Bassets. The process was seamless and easy, 6 weeks from viewing to completing! I was told buying a house would be stressful but that wasn’t the case at all. Nathan’s communication was excellent and he was always on hand to answer any questions I had, as a first time buyer there were a lot but he helped explain every step to me. Our tenant was shown the house one day and he moved in 8 days later, having paid the deposit and passed the financial and referencing criteria - this is an impressive turn round time. Luke, the manager, is very responsive and understands the need for regular updating communication. The successful tenant was not the first to make an offer for the property, other applicants did not meet the requirements, but Luke did a good job of keeping us informed. The switch to Northwood has not been 100% smooth but overall the service and 'ownership' that Luke and his team take is impressive.

Lied at every point of the rental, over occupied the property and did not respect my quiet enjoyment. One of there agents let them self’s in my room unannounced.
Record every interaction. Assume they are lying to you. Check they have put your deposit in a safe guarding scheme then check it yourself. Change your locks (check on shelter how to do this within the law).
Or better yet use anyone else.

The rental market was really busy meaning that properties went up and then went straight off the market. So I called Bassetts as soon as I found a property I liked, they took my details but said they needed to check something with the landlord but they'd get back to me. A week later I heard nothing so I called back and the landlord had replied but they never told me. I needed to book a viewing so they wanted to check with the landlord. So I gave them my details again and asked that they updated me when they had more details. The house is now let and I've never been told anything. I felt like I was forgotten and ignored.
There's been a few new properties I enquired about and never heard anything back.
Now when I see a rental property put up by Bassetts I don't even bother enquiring. I've never had such bad service from a lettings agent.

I phoned Bassests estate agents after seeing a property online and I enquired as to its availability.
Sadly, it was unavailable but I spoke to Siobhan who was really sympathetic and understanding. It was just nice to speak to someone with some compassion.

My husband and I booked to view a property yesterday in Salisbury having travelled down from Bedfordshire and spending £200 on a hotel. The property was adverised last Wednesday and viewings were to be held yesterday. At 0915 yesterday we we called to say our 1130 viewing was cancelled as the property was already taken! After explaining our situation Luke agreed we could view the property but called back shortly after to say the current tenants were self isolating. Luke said he would email forms to me and we could go ahead without viewing the property. I am still waiting a day later for the email to arrive even though I cleary spelt out my email address after Luke said he'd tried to unsuccessfully forward them. The annoying thing is I noticed the property was showing 'let agreed' on Rightmove on Friday but assumed this was done to stop enquiries. If we had been informed on Friday we could have saved a 3 hour car journey and a £200 hotel bill. Why lie? Why not just be honest with people? Disgraceful, dishonest and very unprofessional company - please don't believe anything they say and you will save yourself a lot of hassle (and expense in our case).

After 1 email, 2 voicemails and 10 calls I tried pressing a different extension, the chap put me through to the lettings department (so there is someone there then!). "Sorry that property is fully booked now".
Right. So despite me calling and emailing within 10mins of it being added, and calling the the following morning and then calling a further TEN times. You couldnt be bothered to look through the list of enquiries in chronological order and book viewings?

Terrible recent experience trying to let a property with Bassets, would not recommend. They put properties on the market that you're not allowed to view for 2-4 weeks which isn't ideal if you need to move in a hurry, their reasoning for this is "COVID safety" but no other letting agency we've spoken to as of late has had these rules. Understandable that you need to give tenants fair notice for viewings but if you can't show properties to potential tenants in a reasonable time frame why advertise them? We had 2 viewings cancelled in two weeks with the excuse that they'd already been let (reading recent reviews this seems to be commonplace) - this is interesting considering we were apparently "first in line" to view one of the properties as assured to us by the assistant manager. Phone calls to their team, if answered at all, are met with a "You're bothering us" attitude, all around unprofessional and not helpful. Unfortunately they seem to manage most of the rental properties in Salisbury so I guess they feel like they don't need to bother providing decent customer service as the rental market is saturated right now and they can cherry pick who they're going to let to rather than keeping it fair for all the poor suckers that are desperate for a place to live. In the end we've gone with Salisbury Lettings who have been wonderful to deal with, so much more helpful and friendly, and thankful for it as we would not want to know what Bassets are like once you're actually paying them money. No doubt their negative Google reviews are being actively filtered out by fake positives written by internal people. Beware.

They lied to me many times. Let me give examples. I booked one property for viewing and just before viewing they cancelled it. The reason they gave was they got offer for it. Second time they did same for another property. When I said i will take it they said first all viewings must finish then landlord will decide who will get it. But they cancelled my viewings and said the property was gone. They make and break their own rules again and again. I am deeply disappointed with them and will never recommend or use their services . They are the worst agency I have ever come across. They have biased decisions and does favouritism.

We had a viewing booked for a property, and were told the earliest appointment was a week later. We requested a booking online as well which never got a response. A day before our viewing, they message cancelling saying that it's been let. This is incredibly surprising and outrageous when they specified on the listing that letting is not based on a first come first served basis, and all viewings and offers would be allowed before a decision was made.

After letting out my property privately in the past and having a pretty bad experience with it I decided to use an agency, I made the decision to go with Bassets as they are letting only and I had heard good things about them.

I couldn’t recommend Bassets Letting Salisbury any higher. From my initial consultation with them, which was over 18 months ago, I have had nothing but positive relations. Every part of the letting process was explained to me, which I can now confirm I have been through and Bassets fulfilled every one of their responsibilities with the utmost professionalism.
They fully manage my property and ensure all legal, safety and domestic issues are addressed in a timely manner protecting landlord and tenants alike.
The maintenance team and associated contractors have expertly rectified any issues with the property at a very good price and never with hidden charges added on.
Accounts are broken down to a monthly basis, are easy to understand and I have been provided with a detailed annual summary to help with tax administration.

We have used Bassets as our letting agent to manage a number of properties around the Amesbury area for the past 13 years. They have been consistently professional, prompt and utterly reliable and we have been extremely happy with the quality of service they provided. Communication is excellent, they found us some really good quality tenants and dealt promptly and efficiently with any maintenance issues. I particularly liked that they never attempted to exaggerate a property's rental potential in order to attract business and instead let the quality of their service be their selling point. Terrible customer service to the point that myself and my partner lost out on a property that Bassets told us we had first reserve on. When trying to pay the holding deposit, Bassets came up with any and every excuse not to give us the payment details until someone else had let the house. Avoid completely at all costs!!!

As a local tradesman, my job is to provide essential services to tenants, landlords and lettings agents on a very frequent basis. My business has been doing this for 20 years. I'm required to deliver my services at short notice and to slot in quickly between all other services being delivered at rental properties in order to make the 'move in' of the next tenant go smoothly. It would be all too easy for these processes to go wrong, but Bassets are a very well organised and smart company.
Providing my services to Bassets, with their large portfolio of rental properties, has always been a pleasure and never a chore. They are devoted to customer satisfaction, looking after landlords/ladies and tenants and ensuring the smooth running of all move ins and outs. I get to speak to lots of Bassets customers, whether it be tenants, landlords or vendors and I only ever hear high praise. They all say the same thing: "Bassets are people-people who understand what it means to listen properly to customer's needs".
The rental team at Bassets is quite a large team and as such it would be unsurprising if there were communication issues within the team....again however, the communication and team spirit they have is a winning combination.

I had the unfortunate pleasure of being a tenant with Bassets Lettings for 2 years. They were by far the worst agency I have ever dealt with, their biggest issues are their customer service and communication which were awful. They were quick to get in contact if they wanted anything but impossible to get in contact with if we had an issue that needed to be reported, they even failed to notify us when they had changed their reporting system for maintenance issues!
We have since moved out of the property and what should be a simple process was once again made unnecessarily complicated by Bassets errors. Don't expect to get any of your deposit back either, they will find any fault they can and charge extremely inflated costs to fix these 'faults'.
If you are looking at renting I would advise finding a property that isn't managed by Bassets lettings agency!

I have been a tenant with Bassets Lettings for 2.5 years. Terrible customer service and slow communication. You can report maintenance issues online, which is a quick and efficient system, but then you have to deal with their staff after...
During big roof works after big leaks (twice) I had to constantly chase up both Bassets and the contractor. Work was started without notice, scaffolding left for 5 weeks after the job was done. Not Bassets fault, but there was no communication at all. And this is just one example of many nuisances dealing with this agency.
Now we have bought a property and moved out it’s the same story. We had the house professionally cleaned, but for Bassets that wasn’t clean enough. Instead of getting my cleaner back in, they used theirs so they can keep more of our deposit. The landlord told me everything was fine. Clear example of the middle man making things unnessecarily complicated.
I know that when you are looking to rent a property you choose the house and not the letting agency, but if you are doubting between two properties I would advise to avoid the one managed by Bassets!

We recently used Bassets to deal with the sale of our property. They were highly professional and realistic throughout the valuation process. Once sold subject to contract they were extremely good at continued communication and liaison between Solicitors, Vendor and Purchasers etc. Overall they offer an honest, reliable and quality service and we would not hesitate in recommending them to anyone.

We needed to upgrade from a flat to a house but we don’t really know to approach everything. We worked with a different agency before and it kind of failed us. When we walked in, we didn’t expect everything to go so smoothly... Valentina was very friendly and knowledgeable, helped us with our choice , and we decided very quickly. The team they work with for transition is very good and the house even better than initially presented, so they are very honest about everything they do!

Quentin and his team have been amazing! Always helpful and quick to communicate if my tenants are having problems! Alternatively if I have any queries as a landlord Quentin has been able to reassure me with his wealth of knowledge and expertise. Elouise and the maintenance team are fair and have both mine and my tenants interests at heart. I will certainly be using the Bassets letting team manage any future properties.
