I attempted to purchase a property through Prestige & Village in 2024. During the viewing and in subsequent written correspondence, the agent confirmed that a rear extension was permitted development with no planning issues. This turned out to be inaccurate, and I withdrew from the purchase after incurring over £1,800 in survey and legal fees.
I raised a formal complaint but was dissatisfied with their response. When I tried to escalate to a property ombudsman, I was unable to find the firm registered with either The Property Ombudsman or the Property Redress Scheme — membership of one of these is a legal requirement for estate agents in England.
