There are doubtless still some Estate Agents around who get to the point where a deal has been agreed, and then loose interest until they see their commission. Reeds Rains aren't like that! I found them extremely hélpful and patient. For me being a bit of a donderhead when it comes to the way things are all online today. I am very much old school and really do not like the new technology. However they were very willing to help me get my tenancy sorted and they were all polite and friendly. they do not deserve any stars. they allowed the house i purchased to put on the market without an updated electrical certificate. i went back to them to complain as there was meant to be a new bathroom, it was never finished off by the selling vendor. a month after moving in the water came through to the kitchen from the bathroom which caused the kitchen ceiling to cave in. i went back to this branch and a week later they told me to get stuffed and to go back to my solicitor who is connected to reeds and reins, the solicitor told me to get stuffed after they looked at it for a week.
i have since found out that the electrics should have been redone by the seller before putting on the market. I asked for a surveyor nobody got back to me.
the electric box is plastic, in a cupboard made of combustabal material and there several pairs of wires, platted together and not placed inside the fuses properly. my house is GLENFELL waiting to happen, I hope they do not get any buyers until they resolve and take responsibility for their part in coning me out of my inheritance.
when i got the keys to the house i was informed that the windows had been smashed in. I found out from my neighbours that they were done several months previously.
Apologise and i hope you loose all sales after people have seen the truth about how you have treated one buyer.

Was supposed to move into a property this month, both very excited to get the keys etc we paid the deposit on the 15th of December so we give them plenty of time we even phoned up to let them know we paid it, a few weeks past and we have 0 communication back not even knowing what was going on so my partner goes down to see what is happening to get told they apparently never received the payment and blaming it on a system error! Like are you being serious! We even rang up to tell yous we paid the deposit! So then they say they have given the house to someone else! I'm absolutely disgusted with what happened and the excuses we got. We even got told we can get the keys on the 1st January! Such a disappointment.

I've found them professional and helpful, which was a godsend following a poor experience I had at another big chain agent in Durham. The team were incredibly helpful and were so kind whenever I was stressed or upset. They were always happy to talk, responded to my enquiries quickly and couldn't do enough.
I've lost count how many times Tony has made me feel better when i have called in tears, after receiving not so positive news re the process. Debbie showed us around the initial property we were interested in and couldn't help enough.

Finally at the end of a very long dispute after they wrongly claimed for redecoration due to marks caused by damp, fleas in the house when my animals have never had a single flea on them and damage that existed prior to my tennacy. It was obviously all thrown out by the dispute service.
Constantly get calls and messages from them requesting access to a house under their control when I moved out months ago. Even got an email saying I was a lead tennant in a property in middlesbourgh when Ive never lived in my life!
Allowed me to live in a property where the central heating didnt work throughout the winter months. Only got a message saying they were coming to quote for repairs after id finally moved out!

Stay away. They are very unresponsive. As a tenant, i've had to make multiple calls and send multiple emails to get issues resolved. It takes not days, not weeks, but months for anyone to respond and resolve any issues. If you have a choice to go with another agent, do so and save yourself the hassle.

Due to this estate agent I ended up homeless with a child. After splitting with my partner and making them aware of this I told them as I was disabled I needed a letter with jist my name on proving I was the only tenant and howuch the rent was so I could take this to the job centre to be able to claim housing benefit in order to pay my rent.
After several phone calls and emails (the nearest office was now 15 miles away after the closure of two local branches and I don't drive) I was still receiving correspondence with mine and my ex partners names on, which made it appear as though he was still living at the property so I couldn't claim housing benefit. This lead to more calls and emails and still nothing until they then wrote to me to say due to the fact I hadn't paid my rent that I had to leave the home my son and I had lived in for two years plus within two months, the date actually being the 23rd of December, two days before Christmas!!
The treatment we received was absolutely disgusting. They also emptied belongings out of the house after I requested and was told I could have an extension on the date originally given due to illness and the time of year and they said they would contact me with a date to remove my belongings. I went with a friend to move things and they had taken a LOT of belongings and furniture without contacting me worth hundreds of pounds!

1 star is too kind. We found this amazing house and after so many viewings we thought this was it. Reeds and Rains are unprofessional to say the least. We were completely disappointed with them after how they handled us.
We did what everybody does, once we saw the house we instantly called them and this is how it went:
1st call: Hello? Yes sorry the person (can’t remember her name) handling that specific house is out at the moment. Leave us your details we’ll call you back.
We never got a call back. No worries people forget it’s alright we’ll call again.
2nd call: Hello? Oh yes I remember well that person is not in again (really?). There will be an online viewing don’t worry we will contact you.
A week and no call back.
3rd call: Yes? Oh that house? Sorry someone took it of the market (what the actual hell?). At this point we told them to keep us in mind for future houses. She replied yes yes and hang up.
Seriously is this how they handle people? Completely disappointing and we will never use Reeds and Rains bad and unprofessional.
I guess if you know a friend of a friend you get the house you want. Good luck with them though I suggest you avoid them.

We had a very disappointing experience with this estate agents. We put an offer in on a house which was accepted immediately. We had already explained to the property owners and the estate agents themselves that we needed to get our house sold and were reassured they were totally fine with that and there was no rush. We were told to celebrate! We made the effort to go in to Durham the next day, on their instruction to drop off our ID and have a chat and were again reassured. A few days later I had a phone call from Charlene regarding our house situation, and she seemed confused that we needed to sell our property. I explained again and thought nothing of it. Later that afternoon I got a text from the SELLER not the estate agent to tell us they had to pull out of the sale due to trying to evade having to pay the stamp duty on their new property, so they needed to sell to someone who was proceedable immediately. We were absolutely crushed and confused. Very unprofessional of Charlene/Reeds Rains to not call me directly to explain this and instead left it up to the sellers themselves which is massively unfair. We never received any further information. Funnily, we sold our house within a matter of days but they'd already offered it to someone else. The whole interaction was stressful, unprofessional and cruel and thankfully we never had to work with this branch again.

Still waiting for a call back that was promised over a week a go. 2nd call back actually. Would stay away from these "cowboys", happy to take money but NO customer service skills at all. Really frustrating, with a lack of customer satisfaction.

Would not advise anyone to rent property with Reed's Rains...the landlord does not respond to maintenance issues!!! Phone calls emails total neglect..had problems with leaking boiler took 3 months for a reply .plumber spent almost 3 hours at the property and still wasn't repaired. The state of the living conditions left us no choice to rent alternative accommodation as well as paying the rent to the original property as we were tied to the tenancy agreement until end of this month...we now have to wait for the inspection to take place to decide whether we get our end of lease security deposit!!!! Absolute disgusting how they treat their tenants

Honestly absolute Joke stay clear of REED RAINS so months in mice everywhere, loose taps, doors dont shut worst estate agents. Personally I'm a landlord myself and I would be ashamed the way they deal and treat tenants it's all about money how much they can make I will upload pictures of what they rented out I was working away and had to come see this for myself why my wife was so upset DISCUSTING THE STATE OF HOUSE THEY RENTED OUT!!!! Twice they've returned funds for property cleaning and still no progress to start marketing it and its now June 2019. Time to find a professional agency, clearly they need to management.

Do not rent from reeds rains, repairs not carried out waited over 1 month. On viewing the property were promised new sink, toilet and glass panel for shower this has not been done. Previous tenants property including urine stained bath mats left in property. Property left in a filthy state. see dirt on wipes after cleaning supposedly clean bath room, rubbish left in garden , shed etc

Having experienced the very worst of letting agents previously. The folks that never return calls. The folks that never actually follow through and do what they say they will I was close to giving up on renting property in Durham. Staff are great from the start, very informative, they keep you up to date along the way evening making contact if there isn't really anything to report but at least it lets you know they haven't forgot about your property unlike some other estate agents. They give you their honest opinion regarding the sale of your house. The staff are extremely welcoming when you visit their office and nothing is to much hassle for them and they will help you out in anyway they can. Special shout out to Gem who is fantastic and goes out of her way to make things as smoothly as possible. We also used Christine for our mortgage and again this women never stops working always keeping on top of where your sale/purchase is at. Going out of her way to contact anybody involved if needs be. Getting us the best deal for our mortgage and much better than the numerous banks/building society's we went to direct. Although I have only mentioned Gem and Christine by name the whole staff within the Durham Office are great and are quite happy just to have a chat with you about things in general and do not make you feel like they want you out of the office. I would highly recommend using Reeds Rains and their mortgage arranging facility.

Gemma was the lead contact and couldn't have been more helpful, both in terms of identifying suitable properties and keeping me updated with developments and chasing up my (frankly useless) solicitors. When not available I found Lauren to be equally to the task. It was very reassuring to know that the systems they use ensured that my details and progress with my purchase could be easily accessed by other staff members and they obviously speak to each other regularly as they knew what was going on. Similar to others, there is a poor level of communication with calls not returned and maintenance issues ignored - even broken radiators in winter! Also, they faked my signature on our check-in form, of course there is "no evidence" for this, other than the fact it is not my signature! Being in communication with our landlord it appears that they have had a similar experience too.

I recently used Reeds Rains to tenant my property and they are fantastic, very professional and gave me an executive service like no other.
Would certainly recommend them.
My lesson with previous agents is don't go with the cheapest fees as i did previously, the customer service usually reflects the price and it was shockingly bad.
