As a first-time buyer who had recently started renting in Chichester, I began exploring what was on the market and was fortunate to be supported by Nigel at Stride & Son. I genuinely cannot recommend him highly enough. He is kind, approachable, and extremely professional.
Nigel guided me through several viewings and helped me reach the point of having an offer accepted. The property was a probate sale with the family based in the US, which meant communication was slower at times, but Nigel was proactive, responsive, and worked hard to keep everything moving in a timely manner.
Unfortunately, the purchase ultimately fell through due to changes in my own circumstances. That said, the experience working with Nigel was nothing but positive, and I would not hesitate to work with him again in the future. Sometimes things don’t go to plan, but had it proceeded, I would have felt completely confident continuing the journey with Nigel and the team at Stride & Son.

I was delighted with the service and respect that I received from the whole Estate Agency team at Stride & Son, such a relief after a shocking and disrespectful attitude shown by their auction manager just a few months ago (his dismissive behaviour made me think twice about trusting my house to the Estate Agency team, but gladly all the Estate Agency side of Stride & Son that I dealt with were very extremely professional and considerate. I both sold my old house through Stride & Son and I bought my new property through them. We had one very small glitch with the property that I bought which was swiftly and very professionally resolved. The couple who bought my house also asked me to pass on their thanks to the team, they said that they had been very impressed by the service that they had received as viewers to the property and as buyers.

The whole team at Stride &Son Chichester were absolutely first class. We were buying and were shown properties in a very professional way - viewing appointments were easily and quickly fixed for us. Once our offer on a property was accepted Richard seemed to be the only person in the county who knew what was going on.
His diligence in keeping tabs on everything was so good - giving us regular and carefully considered reports on progress.

We have sold 2 properties through Stride which belonged to my late parents in law. To say the sales were challenging doesn’t adequately reflect the scale of the complications which came at every turn. Throughout the entire 2 year process Tom has been unflappable, professional and unfailingly courteous to all the parties involved. He has had good relations with all the solicitors and chased when needed and he always provided good advice, bringing solutions to every set back.
Indeed, every person at Stride HQ has been willing to go the extra mile to get these properties sold so we can move on with our lives.
The auction department were also wonderful, helpful and efficient. Peter was a joy to deal with.
I can’t recommend them highly enough.

After realising the mortgage on our house in West Sussex was due to increase by £1,100 a month come August, we decided in the previous January 2023 that we should try to sell and move to Scotland.
Due to the differences in systems for buying houses in Scotland, we needed to be swift in getting our house on the market and securing a sale. In strides Stride and Son to make all our non-bankruptcy dreams come true!
We called to arrange a viewing, explained the situation and they got to work immediately. Nick (who we knew from a previous valuation) returned to our property and gave us intelligent, meaningful advice and a fair valuation for the situation (i.e. quick sale), and the rest of the staff got to work arranging photos, EPC, advert....everything in super quick time.
Our house was on the market straight away, and the viewings came flooding in, all handled beautifully by Tricia, Nick and Jeanne.
Other shining stars in the process were Tom, Susie, Gillian and Richard. Always ready to answer the phone with a smile, some friendly banter and most importantly: action and responses!
The sale was quite complicated due to the nature of the property, but all the staff at Stride went the extra mile to help things to go as smoothly as possible. Their knowledge, advice, tenacity and general all-round loveliness really helped with the stress of moving. I spoke to the buyers of our house, and they said Stride were brilliant to deal with from a purchasers standpoint also.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking to sell a house in the Chichester area. They've got about a million years of experience between them, and if you listen to their advice you will not be disappointed!

We have recently used two local firms of estate agents, and this has really emphasised for us how important it is to choose a good one.
I cannot recommend Stride and Sons highly enough. We had a fairly complicated sale as we had to work to a very specific timetable, at a time when the housing market was becoming uncertain. Throughout the process the team at Strides were able to offer us advice that turned out to be excellent. They were incredibly responsive, their communication was swift, and they were very patient. They definitely went the extra mile, not just with their checking of details, but also with the way in which they maintained close contact with our eventual buyer and at least two sets of solicitors.
What also impressed us was the personal touch. One member of Stride's team was our main point of contact, and we were able to build a trusting relationship with her over several months. However, there was a sense of a team working together, and when our main contact was not available there was always somebody else to talk to who seemed to know what was going on. You also got a sense that this was a local family firm that really knew the local conditions.
We will recommend this firm to friends and family, and will definitely use them again should we decide to move again.

Stride and Sons were amazingly efficient and effective when trying to sell my mother's small rural cottage. The property was a difficult mix of a relatively unmodernised terraced property along with a large and well maintained garden that was 100+ metres behind the cottage. Strides seem to excel at selling these more "quirky" properties and they gave us excellent advice and guidance.

I write to commend Stride & Sons for their fast & professional service following my successful purchase of a Georgian compass in their auction finishing on Friday 7th October. Their invoice for the item was sent via email the next day but on receipt there was no provision for its postage cost so I rang their office & spoke to a female member of staff. She promised that I would receive an amended invoice before she finished for the day. It duly arrived mid afternoon so I was able to make payment the same day.
On the Monday I received a further text advising that the item would be posted on Tuesday via Royal Mail Special Delivery & it was duly received the next day. Receipt of an auction item within 3 days of payment is amazing! Over the last 6 years I have bought from over 40 different auctioneers & have never received a lot so quickly & on several occasions have had to wait up to a fortnight or more for delivery. It has been great to deal with such a professional auction house! Highly Recommended!

Forgetting for a moment what lot I purchased from Stride & Son. I bought it some weeks ago and collected it on 13/09/22. The auction house didn’t open until 09:00 hrs. I had travelled for over 4 hours and arrived about 08:35 hrs.
I could see there was activity inside and I enquired with a young man if it was possible to pick my lot up. He couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating even though they weren’t officially open and he was busy with other matters. May seem small but customer service is always important and what I remember most!
The lot I bought was excellent as well!

Terrible place.
Their response to my review is typical. Arrogant beyond belief + inaccurate. Management act as though they are doing you a favour by selling you stuff + taking your money! Not a clue on customer service. I dealt with them very regularly for a while so I know. Worst auction house I have dealt with.

Absolutely awful service and I would not reccomend them to anyone. You are much better off using one of the other local auctioneers who are more competitive and better mannered, not to mention will get better results.

This was my first experience of bidding at a general auction with this company. I was very impressed with the friendly and helpful service I received from everyone I spoke to when I went to collect my lot.
