Disappointing experience.
We have kept evidence (photos/videos) before moving in to the property. When leaving property, we left it in better cleaning condition. The inspector tried to claim for damage that already existed when moving in (luckily, we kept evidence but not everyone would do it). We were also left with a loose and unsafe curtain pole and an expired smoke alarm during tenancy. Despite handing the property in better condition, we haven’t received the deposit after 2 weeks and had to deal with false claims… not sure what to say but we may have to contact the tenancy deposit schemes or county court…

My experience with this letting agency has been extremely disappointing from start to finish. Communication was consistently unclear, disorganised, and slow. I had to chase multiple times just to receive basic updates regarding my application.
There was significant confusion around the Right to Rent check, which could have been resolved easily with a single phone call. Instead, this caused unnecessary delay and frustration. Despite assurances that everything was in order, critical information such as the tenancy agreement and confirmed move-in date were either delayed or never provided.
The lack of flexibility and professionalism was unacceptable. Scheduling was rigid, responses were evasive, and important details kept changing. Even when I made every effort to cooperate, their poor management made the process impossible to complete in good faith.
It is worth noting that the company only offered to refund my holding deposit after I had to repeatedly follow up and formally withdraw due to their inefficiency.
Overall, this agency’s service fell far below what any tenant should expect. I strongly advise others to avoid using this company if they value clear communication, reliability, and professionalism. There are far better agencies out there that respect their clients’ time and commitments.

Be careful with this letting agency; don’t get excited about a potential property - even if you’re the first to enquire about it once it’s been posted and are willing to put a deposit down even before your showing.
Tennens, (specifically, the owner, Barry) has an undisclosed, nepotistic, “exclusive reserve” list for special, prospective tenants.
Both from our first-hand experience, as well as via hearing others’ experiences with Tennens, it is evident that this letting agency gives preferential treatment to clients on a special reserve list, THEN list a highly desired/sought after property, allow people to enquire about it and arrange a showing, THEN offer the home to the “special” people on their nepo-waiting list (disallowing the “normie” prospective tenants from even having a chance at the home).
Unfair, unethical, shameful.
If you’re going to engage in this practice, at least give the property to the “specials” before listing it on the market as being available to the commoners…

I rented through them for a while. I’m giving both positive and negative in this review from personal experience. I knocked off two stars due to some problems I had.
I would have a broken toilet or a broken shower and I always received a “leave it with me” and had to call again in two weeks because I left it with them.
Everyone should have working shower temperatures and working bathrooms. It’s a quality of life thing.
I don’t know if the plumbing in the place we were in just needed attention but the dishwasher flooded the kitchen and it wasn’t seen to until a month later. It wasn’t truly fixed until about 4 months later when the dishwasher was replaced after breaking over and over.
In the flip side, they provided a lot of helpful outside sources.
They provided a handyman Mr. Old who was helpful with many tasks from gardening to cleaning to fixing the fridge.
They also suggested a Plummer named Simon. He helped us when we’re struggling with disconnecting everything upon moving out.
Overall they’re a little below average. Make sure you rent from a good rated place and good rated landlord if you go through them. They aren’t fast about fixing things even if it’s something important like necessities. And the emergency number they give DOESN’T work. Never did.

If you get a different letting agency I would recommend doing so. Tennens is OK. The staff was nice and helpful but when it came to emailing me for guidance or trying to keep me in the loop I felt like it was condescending. There was a time where I accidentally received mail that didn't belong to me and rather than saying in a kinder email how to send the mail they were very direct and it came off slightly accusatory. I also didn't like how they made arrangements for people to come to the house again the tone of the emails are gruff. In the USA noone is allowed to come to your house without your permission and I felt a lot of pressure to allow random people in the house pre and post covid to get certain things done. I also thought they charged check out fees for miniscule issues. Just be aware before letting a house that they manage.

My fault for not reading the contract properly and asking the right questions.
I left their property in an amazing condition, much much cleaner than when they gave it to me. But I was still charged a £150 'check out' fee. I still don't understand what this is for and £40 for that little mark next to the shower stall (I bet you can't even figure out which one). Disgusting appliances in the house, communal light bulbs were not changed. Had to complain about dead birds before they came to take care of the garden. Just felt very neglectful.

What can I say about this estate agent. I rented a flat off this agency last June for nearly £800 pcm; upon arriving in the flat I was confronted several issues, the main problem was the bathroom. The bath panel was broken and the plug was broken. At first I was very impressed by the landlord coming to get the panel and plug within two days. I was then left without a panel and plug for nearly three weeks, I was calling Tennens regularly and was called “an immature little girl” and “impatient”. When it finally came back I was on holiday, upon my return I found the loo running with water. I assumed that whoever brought the panel and plug back must have used my loo and broken a valve. I then had a water bill to pay after five days of running water. The next problem was the blacklisting. The previous tenant had not paid any of the bills on the property and I had to sort ALL of this out. I had to pay Scottish Power £75 per month until I had earnt a lower direct debit, living on your own this was a ridiculous cost. I had to prove to sky that I wasn’t the previous owner! Once I thought this was sorted I started getting final demand letters. Then one day the bailiffs arrived, living alone I was terrified and the agents did nothing. It was horrible! The washing machine broke next and the man who fixed it told me that the whole machine stank of weed, that gives you an insight into the previous tenant. Earlier this year a private investigator turned up, I had to show him my ID before he left, he even confessed he had been sat outside for hours. As a single woman living alone you can imagine my horror. To top off what can only be described as a horrifying experience for the final few months of my tenancy I had a flat that stank of drains, even though it was reported by me and picked up on by the deposit check, it was never fixed. On my final checkout, they even had the nerve to charge me for cleaning lime scale and dirty windows, which I have had to live with for the last 8 months as it is impossible to remove and clean. My only advice is to AVOID the agent at all costs, especially if you are living alone.
