Unfortunately the property of interest is now sold over the time of repeatedly attempting to contact to see if the house was suitable for us to purchase to arrange viewings, would have loved to have had opportunity to make an above listing price offer.

This company is absolutely incompetent, uncommunicative, ignorant and arrogant. I would give them 0 stars if i could. I am trying to buy a property and keep having to ring them for progress report to see if my offer has been accepted. Two weeks later still no progress. I give up. Gonna look elsewhere as I want to move this year not the next century. Avoid Stowmarket W H Brown.
I have tried to email you to your complaints emails address connells group but the message can't be sent to you. Your complaints email address cannot be found. Is connells as useless as W H Brown?

Finally our offer was accepted which meant we were within a minute drive from my widowed father in law . The paperwork turns up from the vendors solicitors relating to what comes with the property. None if the information matched the property we were buying. For example it stated that the bunglow came with a dining room when it did not. We asked the vendor to clarify the info because none if it was accurate to the property we were buying. There was also we found a problem with the gas supply that WH Brown promised to get the vendor to sort out. This also came with a new boiler still under guarantee but no paperwork to prove who fitted it and the paperwork cant be found. Our solicitors asked theirs to confirm if this had been sorted .
We awaited a response.
Looking on property for sale in stowupland yesterday we found that the vendors response was to put the property back on the market.
Having spoken to Stuart he is now doing his best to help sort out this mess. Hopefully now I can keep my husbands blood pressure down and soon we can help care for my 84 year old father in law.

Cannot fault this team on their communication, support and help throughout our move.
We came to the Stowmarket branch after the sale of our home with other agents fell through, greeted by Scarlett who made us feel heard and validated on our experience.
The team met with us, valued the property and took photos getting us back on the market quickly and really listened to our worries as we needed to sell to not lose our new purchase. They got multiple of viewings to us within the first few weeks and thankfully our journey could continue.
We had the wonderful Scarlett on hand to keep us posted on the sale, do any chasing and explaining as well as chivvy things along when others seemed to slow our process down. Scarlett has been so kind, personable, hard-working and genuine throughout this process and was a joy to work with. Scarlett is fantastic at her job, which made our process a lot easier.
I also want to thank the other team members at the Stowmarket branch for their support in our sale and communicating with us if Scarlett was unavailable.

(INITIAL REVIEW - 5 STARS) It's mine and my husband's first time buying a house and all the staff we have interacted with have been nothing short of professional.
When we were first shopping around for a mortgage in principal from other companies, they explained nothing to us. With William H Brown, we had an hour long phonecall with Luke Horrex (also works at the Bury branch) who explained everything to us and did a perfect job at putting our minds at ease. We felt reassured and comfortable through this daunting process. Luke secured our confidence so much, we decided to continue this journey with William H Brown. Luke in fact helped a friend of mine with securing her first home, and he came highly recommended. I can safely say, I'll be doing exactly the same!
The communication between staff has been incredibly clear. Luke forwarded us onto Niamh Howard to help us find properties that met our criteria, and she was absolutely brilliant. She was quick to get things organised and kept us regularly updated. The houses William H Brown offered were all very clean and well presented. It made it very hard to make a decision! But Niamh was never pushy - always gave us an adequate amount of time to consider things and even helped with offering points for us to think about and questions to ask. We decided on a house and then it was over to the next member of staff, Stuart Ellis.
What an extremely happy chappy he is! Incredibly hardworking and consistently gives five-star, cheery customer service despite working long days that even extend past the office hours! He is completely dedicated and a valuable asset to William H Brown. Again, Stuart keeps communication open and clear and has been very quick to push through our paperwork on securing the sale of the house. His work was absolutely instrumental in our success to securing our first home.
We are looking forward to meeting both Luke and Stuart at our next appointment. Putting some faces to some heroic names! If and when we come to sell our house, we have no doubt in our minds about using William H Brown. But we will 100% recommend this company, team and these specific members to any person going through the same process as us, or for any housing needs! Our deepest thanks, to you all! Once we confirmed a purchase through William H Brown, their communication became weak which was detrimental when the sale became problematic. I don't blame the sale falling through on William H Brown - we had a nightmare vendor. However, I feel as if I was always the one chasing William H Brown for updates. I was the one to discover that the property became part of a related transaction, and it felt like an uphill struggle trying to get this confirmed, what this meant for my husband and I, and how we could resolve this mess. I know it's never nice dealing with a negative situation, but it made for a more negative experience when we felt as if we were being avoided. Luke Horrex was the strongest member of the team assigned to us, and gave us the best advice and guidance. He was open and honest, which is exactly what we needed. We sadly ended up dropping out of the sale and purchased through Haart Estate agents instead. We did look at other properties that William H Brown had to offer, and some of those properties made it a hard decision to make. I would still use William H Brown in the future, but I have been shown a new high standard by another estate agent company.

it is not worth it it is just a waste of time especially mortgage manager Luck Horrex who is not able to fill in all the details correctly and because of which I lost the house I wanted, on the grounds that we cannot borrow the required amount. but just a week later I apply to natwest on my own for the mortgage and they tell me that I am perfectly eligible for the required amount. William h Brown please resolve the case and return the amount paid for which no service was done but on the contrary a disservice that lasted more than 4 months which were full of stress and lies

After Buying our first property from Lee at William H brown I can say if something could go wrong it did.
This was however not the issue of William H brown but the developers / sellers of the property.
Lee has been amazing throughout the process providing us with updates and general communication throughout and reassuring us of where things were and chasing the appropriate parties.
Whenever Lee was out of office we also had the pleasure of speaking to both Stuart and Georgia all of whom were very polite welcoming and willing to help out where ever possible.
What has been a generally highly stressful experience was certainly made better by Lee Georgia & Stuart.
Honestly Thank you all for your patience we really appreciate everything you have all done to get this sale through.

Poor communication and frankly incompetent. It’s actually reassuring to see people had a similar experience I just thought it was us. Wanted to sell a mortgage even though was told several times we don’t need it . The lady could not get past that and got very rude and argued with us.
Clearly this estate agent does not need sales as they’re actively put people off. Even though I really wanted to see the house I couldn’t pass go as I wasn’t prepared to use them as a mortgage broker.
Rude and pushy !! Deffo avoid if possible.

Selling fee was a bit more than other local agents but after seeing what they had to offer, we negotiated a fee. Dealt mostly with Stuart and Lee and we really can not fault them, or any of the team. Calls were always returned, as required.
My house sold pretty quickly - they dealt with the majority of all viewings, which made the process painless. Stuart always called to advise of any properties that he thought would be of interest for the onwards purchase, before they actually went on the market. Flexible with arranging viewings around our work commitments which was a big help.
There was a period of around 4 months + between my sale, and having an onwards offer accepted, but they remained in regular contact with my buyer to keep him updated and ensure he was still happy waiting.
Highly recommended.

I contacted the branch about an AIP and Lee was quick to sort me an appointment. At my appointment Lucy was great at talking me through the process and how to progress my mortgage application once I have found the right house for me. A top professional service all round and would recommend to anyone.

Took them 3 days to get back to us in order for us to put an offer in for a house, by that time we found out that there was another person interested, so why did they waste our time by letting us view the house or if the house was still for sale why didn't they get back to us to even put our offer into the hat? Complete waste of time, will never use again. So if you have a home for sale you have 1 less potential buyer.

Only deserve a 1 star. Avoid at all costs.
We sold our house recently and I have never been so shocked at the level of unprofessionalism at the Stowmarket Branch. They do NOT return your calls. They have a lack of motivation and neglect to tell you about key importances in your chain.
They extend the truth to fit their ends; and I caught them in a lie several times.
I had the misfortune of having Stuart looking after my case. He had to be chased every step of the way. Was rude to me on at least two occasions ; one time including refusing to call me back within a 14 day period then asked me to book an appointment as "he had a conference call in 10" .. I popped in as I was there client and they kept saying they would call me back but didn't.
Stuart and the team can't work out commission correctly; I personally had to ring him and talk them through it on the phone whilst he had a calculator. The difference was around £600 over charge. If you have had dealings with them in the past check the commission you were charged and claim if over charged. It's okay thought he said "must of been a typo". Even though 2 staff apparently double check it. There are so many other issues as well but I wouldn't want to bore the people reading my review!.
I strongly recommend you use another estate agent!

Terri was our broker from here when we recently purchased our new house. She was amazing, anything we needed she was there. All information was communicated clearly to us and this made the whole experience a lot easier. We had a number of issues with our solicitors but thanks to Terri this was dealt with. I cannot thank her enough for her help and thanks to her we now have our first house!!!

We would definitely recommend William h brown mainly because of Terri and Stuart. Everyone was lovely at the stowmarket branch but these two especially go above and beyond to be helpful and always make you feel like your the priority despite probably having lots of other clients to help.

I was financially interrogated for a simple house valuation request. Person I spoke to sounded as if he was in a call centre. Keener to give me a mortgage rather than value my house. Will not be using them.

I called the Stowmarket office to view a house on Bond Street. I initially spoke to Megan who was professional over the phone and she arranged for Stuart to call me back as they were extremely busy. He called me back and arranged my viewing. His customer service and understanding of my situation was reassuring considering other agents couldn’t care. I can’t fault their customer service.

always in the office someone is always ready to answer your questions help to give the right advice, which is betterThe only thing that does not always suit me is that the problem with parking nearby, as there is always a controller who will be happy to issue a fine if you parked nearby, this is of course very annoying

Really poor customer service!
I contacted the branch to make an offer on a property and the team member I was assigned to was more concerned about doing a mortgage comparison for me, despite being told it wasn't required.
The same team member then lied to me later in the day about the vendors accepting a higher offer for the property, which I discovered was not the case at all after speaking to the vendors themselves.
As a result, I sent an email of complaint to the Manager at the branch regarding the incidence, who never even had the decency to reply to my email, despite receiving it nearly 3 weeks ago.
Would not recommend as staff seem more interested in lining their pockets than providing a professional service, where they put customers first!

Took a week and a half for this estate agents to get back to us about a house we wanted to view, despite us calling up so many times. On the day they finally managed to arrange a viewing for us, which was later on that week, it was sold that afternoon. Not impressed.

I found the Stowmarket branch of William H Brown very professional. From the first meeting with Matt, he took into account the improvements and highlights that I felt were important. He understood what my house had to offer and how to market the property to gain as much exposure as possible to the right clients.
The team he has working with him have been great in keeping me informed throughout the whole process (I must say Lee was my main contact here). Although this is a National Agent, I felt they portrayed themselves as a local company, knowing the area and the clientelle, but with the National back up which I liked. I would highly recommend these guys

The Ely branch never responded to calls and made no attempt to push the sale, if it had not been for the team at Stowmarket we wouldn’t have known what was happening. I would have no hesitation in recommending Matt, Josh and the team. From the first meeting with Matt, everything was explained clearly, and the team soon had a purchaser on board for our property. Even though we had numerous problems with the bottom of our chain, which was being handled by a different estate agent, Josh was very proactive in keeping me informed stage by stage. Also, I cannot stress enough how helpful it was to use Shoosmiths as our conveyancers through William H Brown, as between them they kept the communication flowing. I would definitely use them again.

A frustrating experience from the beginning. Matt persuaded my elderly mother to use their recommended solicitors who turned out to be an absolute nightmare. We were told that they had been used lots of times and would ensure the sale went through quickly. This was not the case. It was a catalogue of disasters from start to finish and I ended up doing the majority of the chasing and phone calls. Half way through this very stressful experience Josh and Matt then admitted that my mum was the first client to use this solicitor so we felt lied to and misinformed. Josh was poor at returning phone calls or keeping my mum informed throughout the sale and his favourite one liner which was not helpful is "I get that". Not a professional response when you are ringing for the umpteenth time to tell him how frustrated you are. I would not use William Brown again. We have had no apology for their poor service.
