Once they’ve rented you a property, they seem to go out of their way to be unhelpful. The property managers show little understanding or empathy for tenants, despite the fact that tenants are ultimately their clients. Disappointing lack of care and accountability.

We´ve been looking for a flat for quite a while and our experience with Winkworth was by far the best. We were impressed with how quickly and efficiently everything was handled. Simon provided excellent service throughout the entire process. He was always available to answer questions and kept in touch regularly. Less than a week after the viewing, our offer was accepted and the references were approved.

Thanks to Simon and his team for always being friendly and supportive throughout our (long) house moving process. I was impressed by Winkworths valuation of our house which transpired to be spot on. They have a really have good knowledge of the Herne Hill area. We dealt with the same people throughout and they were always responsive and helpful. I was pleased that we went with Winkworths.

Winkworth are the worst property managers in south London. They lied about changing locks when the previous tenants still had keys. They never fixed a window lock for the full tenancy.

An excellent service all round!
Nadine Aucamp was wonderful all the way through the sales process of my property. She was especially excellent at keeping in touch with the buyer's and other solicitors down the chain so that I was kept properly informed of the progress of my case. To be honest, I found her a lot more helpful and clued up on what was going on than the solicitors themselves!

The sale of our property was an unusually difficult one due to some sensitive family matters. Thankfully for us the guys at Winkworth dealt with the situation sensitively and in a highly professional manner and also went beyond the call of duty on many occasions, to help defuse a trying family situation to help the transaction move along and complete. Their communication was great throughout the very long process, advising us and keeping us abreast of where we were in the sale and what options were open to us. Would highly recommend this estate agent in future.

Nailed our brief, was always contactable, was honest and forthright which again really helped us make the decision. Will almost certainly come back to Winkworth should we need to every move again.

Moved out of a property in Herne Hill and informed Winkworth I was keen to sell my furniture (note, the incoming tenant was also keen to buy it when I showed him round the place).
All goes quiet before Winkworth inform me the new tenant doesn't want the furniture. Cue confusion.
I destroy a £400 wardrobe - only to learn (after meeting up with the new tenant to collect a forgotten Xmas tree) he did still want them - Winkworth had just told him I wasn't selling any.
Couldn't have made it any clearer on my part - to multiple agents. Really bad communication that has made everyone's life harder. Do better!

We were selling our house in south London during the first lockdown. Having had some experience with online agents we decided to try Winkworth to get things moving. In comparison we really see the value Winkworth provided. During the sale process, Simon was proactive and moved things forward. He was a good communicator, honest and transparent with us and I believe our buyers. He was a good negotiator and kept things cool when both sides were under pressure approaching exchange. All these qualities enabled us to get things over the line to exchange, in a what was a particularly challenging time to sell in London.

I found their customer service style was a mixture between dumb and rude. Some staff try to be helpful but overall, I'm not really impressed with any of the communications I've had with the office and found that if they can charge you for something, they will.

I was very pleased with Winkworth. I switched to them after 12 weeks with Galloways and immediately noticed an increase in the number of viewings. I had already moved out of the property to Manchester and they went above and beyond - checking in on the property outside of viewings to make sure everything was ok and giving me piece of mind. In a tough market to sell they did over 40 viewings and were very patient. Joe Amos was my main point of contact. I really valued his advice on pricing and tip to invest in furniture to make the flat feel more homely. It was frank and honest. Everyone wants to sell for more but with a consider approach got us to point that allowed us to gain traction and get offers. He also played a critical role in negotiating the offers that came through and getting the sale over the finish line with the buyer. The rest of team were also great - Douglas and Simon. There was good communication between them as a team. I felt comfortable talking to any of them. I would definitely recommend the Winkworth Herne Hill branch.

Worst agency I’ve worked with and I’ve dealt with many bad agencies before. This agency messed us around massively. We put an offer in on a rented property and they said they’d let us know in a couple of days. When we tried to call up for an update we were told our agent was on (planned) annual leave and no one else could help us. We were unaware of this. The manager was also quite unhelpful. The agent came back from leave and told us the landlord was considering letting the existing tenants stay in the property for longer, but she was still hopeful we could sort something out. She would let us know in a day or so. It took over a week for them to tell us that the landlord was definitely letting the existing tenants stay in for longer - we only found out because we kept calling and calling - the agent was never in and never called us back - classic agents. The agent was consistently pretty optimistic about our chances on the phone and she definitely strung us along for longer than necessary. This took a lot of unnecessary time out of our property search and made the whole thing a lot more stressful.

The flat we rented was advertised as furnished. On the day we moved in, the sofa promised to us by our agent wasn't there. The only furniture in the bedroom was a bed and a dehumidifier. We weren't told about damp issues. When I addressed this they told me they knew nothing about damp issues, didn't offer a remedy, and told us to "keep our windows open" - in the middle of winter. Broken light switch that they never fixed. Prolonged mouse issue that they suggested I just "get a mouse trap" for. General lack of care or interest in our concerns. As it was, we paid way over the odds for what we got, evidenced by the fact that it's still on the market almost two months after we said we were leaving. After 12 months at the property, they charged us £100 for a wear and tear issue that would have occurred regardless. After all their incompetencies, wouldn't you have thought they could at least cover that cost?

Poor estate agent. Poor communication. They failed to arrive to show potential buyers around a property. When telephoned to enquire about the situation the estate agent advised they would call back but failed to do so. A repeated call to enquire occurred with the same situation. If I were selling a property I wouldn't opt to work with Winkworth, not if they fail to turn up to bookings and then fail to immediately act on the situation.

I only had bad experiences using Winkworth to manage my property whilst living overseas. Any issues that did arise they would simply pass the responsibility back to me. Having placed two sets of bad tenants who caused numerous issues I had to move on and replace them.
I truly don't know what they did for the money I paid them. The last insult was when they simply had to submit the before and after photos from the inventory report to prove to the DPS that the property had not been cleaned, and damaged had been caused. They didn't send the photos - idiots. Thanks for nothing Winkworth.
