My friend and I have both rented with JCP, and while my experience was okay (which I put down to having a conscientious landlord rather than any doing of the agents themselves), I am giving a one star review because of the terrible experience of my friend with JCP and their landlord, who is the director of JCP. On leaving the property, the landlord tried to claim double the amount of the deposit in damages for false reports they had made on the final condition of the property. This was completely unjustified and was made especially painful considering the already existing issues with the property that the landlord failed to engage with them on throughout the tenancy; this all caused significant stress to my friend. I would not recommend JCP in the future because of this

I recommended a JCP property to my son & student friends as the pictures looked great.
The property was not very clean & had several issues right from the start. These issues took months to resolve & not all of them were resolved.
The landlord and Estate agent were not very helpful throughout and although the property was left cleaner than when they moved in a full refund of deposit was not received.
It took a few months to sort out the deposit issues.
Would not recommend at all.

My partner rented a house through JCP for a year and it was an incredibly stressful experience for them, which I saw first hand as I visited often throughout the tenancy. JCP/the landlord (the landlord is the director of JCP) took far too long to fix many things or left things unresolved, like the shower in the en-suite which did not have a handle to turn it on, so had to resort to using pliers for the whole tenancy. At the end of the tenancy they tried to claim far more than the deposit and only received a fraction of the amount they claimed. I would not recommend renting with JCP.

I have been with 3 estate agents/landlords in Oxford and 4 altogether, and this was unfortunately the worst experience I have had (the landlord we had is a director at JCP). Upon entering the house on the first day there were numerous issues, and we had to contact repeatedly to get things fixed. At the end of the tenancy, very high and, in my view, unreasonable charges were proposed, including a £1k cleaning charge.
I would not recommend renting with JCP.
