Sold us a grade 2 listed cottage for £1m but turned out it didn't even have planning permission in parts, never mind listed buildings consent.
Vendors failed to provide any paperwork (e.g. listed buildings consent) which should have been sorted by estate agents before marketing (had to find a 7 year old underpinning building regulations certificate myself), then failed to exchange in time (despite 2 weeks notice), nearly collapsing a whole property chain after many months of my time, energy & money. Exchange finally happened with four days until completion deadline, leading to massive & unnecessary stress.
Keith Ashton's communication with vendors and myself poor throughout, and got worse (including terrible advice to lie to my buyer) as deadline approached.
Sales Support Consultant made a ridiculous accusation of bullying when asked to contact vendors, and even after escalation, Associate Director didn't help either until much too late.
No one seemed to care if transaction failed or succeeded with nearly disastrous consequences, and still had no explanation nor apology from anyone. Didn't even bother to respond when asked when sold sign would be removed after all of the above. Avoid at all costs!... Read more
