Dealt with this firm as the seller when they represented the buyer on my property sale. Their conveyancer refused an existing absent landlord indemnity policy on completion and pushed for a retention for ground rent arrears. After completion, the ground rent invoice was issued by a company whose active Director is a Senior Partner of this exact law firm. When raised, the Senior Partner dismissed the concern on the basis that I was not their direct client. Be aware of how third-party transactions and retentions are handled here.<br><br>UPDATE in response to the owner's comments:<br><br>I was never provided with an address or contact details for any alleged rent collector, meaning there was literally no door to knock on. It was only when I researched the entity demanding the funds on Companies House that the direct link to this firm's Senior Partner was uncovered. Written correspondence from the conveyancer also confirmed that her client would not knock on a door to pay rent.<br><br>The Absent Landlord indemnity policy had already been purchased in 2018 at my own cost when I bought the property. Refusing existing insurance to extract cash under the time pressure of a completion date resulted in an unnecessary duplicate payment.<br><br>The response above openly confirms that the company which issued the arrears demand and received the payment has a Senior Partner of this law firm as an active Director.<br><br>I never confirmed the matter was closed, having promptly referred the conduct to the regulator. The SRA's assessment explicitly recorded that the conveyancer claimed she was personally unaware that her firm's Senior Partner ran the company collecting the ground rent.<br><br>The documented email trail and public Companies House records speak for themselves.

Update July. The purchase of our new house went through after only 4 weeks from offer accepted to completion. Amazing. Vicky, Paula and Rhea couldn't have been more helpful. We were regularly updated about the search results and outstanding queries with the sellers. Emails and calls handled with their usual speed and efficiency. I am glad we used Sleigh Son and Booth for both sale and purchase.<br><br>Just sold our house using Sleigh and Son Solicitors in Denton and an excellent service was provided. Calls answered quickly and return calls made promptly. Not having sold a house in over 20 years the quantity of documentation was a surprise but Vicky, Paula and Rhea provided helpful notes and guidance when required. So Impressed with their service we are using them for our house purchase as well. Highly recommended.

Our solicitor was absolutely fantastic - she was incredibly responsive, efficient, and made the whole process as smooth as possible. We really appreciated how quickly she replied to any questions and how professionally everything was handled.<br><br>The only reason for 4 rather than 5 stars is that the administrative side could be improved. We were given incorrect information on a couple of occasions, and having to print documents because the firm couldn’t accept PDFs was a little inconvenient. These were fairly minor issues overall, but improving them would make the experience even better.<br><br>We’d happily recommend the firm, especially our solicitor, and are very grateful for all her help.

Awful! Take a week to reply to emails. Dump you as soon as they’ve had their money.<br>My mums last wishes could not be carried out because of the way her will was written . Advice from another solicitor said it was obvious what she intended but due to the way the will was written we wouldn’t get what mum wanted unless we contested her will but the costs of this was out of our reach.
