Important to note: Clarke and Simpson were not our agents, but were the agents for the property we were purchasing. Stuart Clarke was handling the sale for his client, but throughout the process we genuinely felt he was acting as much for us as for them. He obviously had a vested interest in completing the sale, but irrespective this fact, throughout the process Stuart was highly responsive, offered constructive help and advice, and was consistently on hand to answer queries, arrange re-viewings and relay our queries and concerns to his client. C&S’s clients were, sadly, selling the property under a power of attorney which raised some challenges. Throughout the process though Stuart and the C&S team dealt with these sensitively and proactively. Had we instructed them under similar circumstances, we would have felt that we were in safe hands. ????? Avoid if you value professionalism and fair treatment My experience with this letting agent has been incredibly disappointing from start to finish. Throughout my tenancy I was repeatedly addressed by the wrong name despite correcting them multiple times, which summed up the lack of care and attention I experienced. The most stressful part came when I was moving out. I had always tried to be accommodating with property viewings, but after one viewing was cancelled, I began moving my belongings as planned. Days later the same viewing was reinstated with very little notice, by which point my personal possessions were throughout the house. I politely explained that I wasn't comfortable allowing strangers into my home in those circumstances and asked if the viewing could be rearranged until after I had moved out. I also offered evenings and weekends when I could be present. Instead of working with me to find a reasonable solution, I received persistent pressure regarding access and was eventually sent a solicitor's letter threatening deductions from my deposit. The experience was completely disproportionate and caused an enormous amount of unnecessary stress during what is already a difficult time. Despite leaving the property in an excellent condition, including paying for professional carpet cleaning and window cleaning, the landlord has since attempted to claim deductions from my deposit for cleaning and a substantial sum for alleged loss of income. The matter is now being disputed through the Tenancy Deposit Scheme. Throughout this process I have found the communication to be poor, the attitude unhelpful, and the overall handling of the tenancy lacking professionalism. I would not choose to rent through this agency again.... Read more
