I contacted the agency simply to arrange a viewing and provided my full name and telephone number. I was then asked for additional personal information, including my residential address, before even viewing the property. This reflects a wider problem in the market: unnecessary data collection becoming normalised at every stage. Agents should collect only the information genuinely necessary for the specific purpose. A viewing should not become a pretext for gathering more personal data than is reasonably required.
