I had a really great experience with Bagshaws Residential Mickleover, especially working with Richard Gulley.
From start to finish, Richard made the whole process feel incredibly easy and stress-free. I didn’t have much prior knowledge about how mortgages work, whereas my wife (who is a conveyancer) already understood a lot—but Richard still took the time to explain everything clearly to me and made sure I was comfortable every step of the way.
He answered all of my questions and concerns without hesitation and really went above and beyond to make what could have been a daunting experience feel simple and straightforward.
I genuinely couldn’t recommend Richard enough—I’ll definitely be pointing any friends and family his way if they’re looking for a mortgage advisor!

I never leave reviews normally or unless I receive an exceptional service, but I have to say dealing with Rich at Bagshaw’s was fantastic. The one thing which I believe to be most important is the communication link and they call you back when they say they will. I was fully updated throughout the process and Rich certainly went out of his way to help us. I’m very grateful of this and it put me at ease with this process. We wanted to write about our extremely poor experience with Bagshaws Estate Agents in Mickleover, following our recent house purchase through them. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by terrible communication throughout the entire process.
Despite our repeated requests for updates, we often received vague responses and were left in the dark regarding the progress of our purchase and chain. Emails went unanswered for months, and phone calls were met with empty promises of callbacks that never materialised. The lack of communication was so poor that our selling agent had to step in and directly contact the seller to get the information we were missing, as Bagshaws wasn't providing regular updates.
In fact, our seller ended up switching to the same agent as us due to the poor service they experienced with Bagshaws, after we initially viewed the property. Regrettably, when we were in a position to put in an offer we had to continue our purchase through Bagshaws since we had already viewed the property beforehand through them.
The overall disorganisation at Bagshaws was alarming. It seemed they had no proper tracking system for house sales, leading to frustrating delays and an overwhelming sense that they simply did not care about the service they provided. One of the most egregious examples was on the day of exchange when issues arose in our chain. We were advised by our solicitor to reach out to Bagshaws to obtain updates, but after multiple calls and promises of information, we received nothing.
Thankfully, our agent was able to step in and make contact with the chain to get the necessary updates. Still to this day after completing on the house, we never even received confirmation or an acknowledgement that the house had completed and no communication on how to get the keys or anything, luckily the seller said they will hand them to us at the property. This experience has left us thoroughly disappointed, and we would actively avoid both selling and purchasing a property through Bagshaws in the future.

We had a great experience with Bagshaws at the Mickleover branch, particularly with Richard Gulley who helped us through the whole mortgage process. As first-time buyers, it can feel quite overwhelming, but Richard made everything really easy to understand by breaking the process down into clear stages and explaining what was happening at each step.
He invited us into the office for meetings, was very welcoming and even offered us drinks, which made the whole experience feel relaxed and personal rather than stressful. Richard took the time to go through all of our queries and made sure we understood everything so we always felt in the loop.
He was also constantly working to find us the best deal available and kept us updated throughout. We really appreciated the support and professionalism from start to finish.
We would highly recommend Richard and the team at Bagshaws Mickleover and will definitely be using them again when we remortgage in a couple of years.

Extremely poor viewing experience. Around 45 minutes before our scheduled appointment, we were contacted and asked to bring the viewing forward, which we said we would try to do. Due to traffic and difficulty finding parking we unfortunately arrived 5 minutes late which we apologised for.
On arrival, we were told the viewing had to be “super quick,” with no explanation. The agent then simply opened the door and told us to “just follow it round.” No information was provided about the property, we weren’t asked if we had any questions and to be honest it felt uncomfortable to ask any questions as we felt rushed and like we were an inconvenience being there and not as if we were potential buyers, there was no real engagement at all from the agent Raushan.
It genuinely felt as though the only role he played was unlocking the door and that he wanted to get away as quick as possible. The viewing was rushed and completely unprofessional. This was especially disappointing as we felt this house could have been the one for us, but the experience completely ruined it and put us off entirely. Would not recommend using Bagshaws if this is the how people are shown around.
We will be making the homeowner aware of this also.

Recently went to view a house in a visit arranged by Rosh. He was fantastic throughout the whole process. He helped to arrange the viewing at a convenient time for me and my partner and was friendly and knowledgeable from the first interaction. Me and my partner had lots of questions about the property and Rosh was able to answer the questions He really put our minds at ease when we were looking around. Manager non apologetic, even when going in to collect the keys the advisor for 2nd viewing had no apology.
I wouldn't use this company if they were the last resort . Advertising of property not to standard . This has now been removed from website

We recently bought our first home through Bagshaws’ Mickleover team and, overall, had a very positive experience. A special thank you to Richard Gulley, who was incredibly supportive throughout the mortgage consultation process. As first-time buyers, we really appreciated his clear advice, patience, and reassurance - he made what could have been a stressful stage feel a lot more straightforward.
The whole team at Bagshaws were friendly, professional, and easy to deal with, and we always felt well looked after.
That said, we would strongly advise against using Talbots Law, the solicitors recommended to us during the process. Unfortunately, our experience with them was disappointing, and we’d recommend asking Bagshaws to suggest an alternative solicitor from their panel.

Our mortgage advisor was named Richard, and we was our point of contact throughout our whole journey. He went above and beyond his role as simply a mortgage advisor, because he continued to give us help and advice even after our mortgage had been agreed, as he knew we were first time buyers and didn’t completely understand the process.
We felt supported throughout, and confident to purchase the home of our dreams.
Although it’s unlikely we’d buy another house in the future, because we’ve bought a house that’s going to be suitable for the rest of our lives, I wouldn’t hesitate at all to recommend Bagshaws, and especially Richard to any other potential buyers in the Mickleover area.

The best advice I have for any Buyers or first time buyers is please do not use the EA’s in house brokers/solicitors services. They work for the seller. Once you give them an inch they will know exactly how to get a mile out of you.
Definitely get an independent survey done or take a tradesmen with you.
Avoid a chain as a first time buyer!
Originally dealt with the previous manager Kate back in January 2024 who was lovely, open and honest. I feel as though if she was still around our sale would have been a lot smoother.
Sadly she left the company and fast forward to present day I can understand why she left.
We were told the sellers wanted to complete in April/May which we were fine with but April and May soon came round and we heard nothing from Bagshaws Mickleover. We had to ask Rebecca from the bagshaws branch in town. She was an absolute star.
We managed to complete in July but with no prior communication or support by the Mickleover branch. Post May 2024 week in week out we were just told “sellers are still waiting for enquiries”, “waiting on the chain” etc
So many accusations thrown at us as first time buyers.
Lastly I want to thank certain staff at the mickleover branch towards the end of our process, mainly Faijul, Amelie and Bev. There was also a chap who handed our keys to us on collection today he was really pleasant.

We found ourselves in the position of needed to sell property following a family bereavement. We decided to go with Bagshaws because they were professional yet approachable, and really do offer a personal service. They have handled everything; from explaining exactly how they determine a valuation, to EPC certificates, photos and viewings.
When you ring the branch with any questions, any of the staff, (Lindsey, Charlotte and Olivia) are able to speak to you about your query. To me this shows they are all familiar with the properties they are selling, and so are able to talk to potential buyers about your property. They are all also very knowledgeable about the housing market on both a local and wider scale in general. Nothing has been too much trouble, and I would not hesitate to recommend them, or to use them again in the future. They have made one of the most stressful times in my life easier to navigate.

We are currently selling our house with Bagshaws. We chose them originally because we viewed a property that was listed with them and had a very positive experience with Charlotte who showed us around the property. Although we could have gone with a cheaper fixed fee rate option for selling our house, we felt that the personal touch given at Bagshaws and relationships already built was worth the selling fee.
Charlotte has kept us in mind for properties coming on the market and has contacted us with ones we might be interested in before they even make it online. Lindsay has also been great with helping us sell our house, she has been in contact with us regularly about the selling process and has given us advice on how to proceed with offers when we asked for it. Our house took a little while to sell but there was no pressure to reduce the price for a quick sale.
This has also all taken place during COVID-19, restrictions and precautions have been put in place and Bagshaws have advised us on how to keep ourselves and viewers as safe as possible.

Both Lindsey and Charlotte at the Mickleover branch did an excellent job of selling 2 properties on our behalf. They frequently provided timely and accurate updates regarding the progress of the sales and were very proactive when dealing with the purchasers’ solicitors.
Thoroughly professional and cheerful, Charlotte and Lindsey have a comprehensive knowledge of the housing market and always maintained client confidentiality throughout the process.
Selling property can be a bumpy ride at the best of times however, these ladies very much smoothed the path to completion with minimal fuss.

Bagshaws found a buyer in January/ Februaryof 2020 and a sale was agreed later and then lock down was imposed on us.
However, since the relaxing of lock down Bagshaws informed me on 16/05/20 that the buyer had withdrawn from the sale.
Initially I was not that happy with the photos used online and asked them to redo some.
Several members of office staff not exactly respectful; rather patronising when on the phone.
Also sometimes the viewings relayed were incorrect times.

Enquired about a property through Ashbourne office. Advised not with them must be Derby office, ring them! I did & they referred me back to Ashbourne office. Aside from the incompetence, is one office really unable to access details of properties with another office of the same company? I certainly won't be selling through Bagshaws if this is how enquiries are handled.
