Poorly managed property and unacceptable tenant experience
Our experience renting through C&D Rural was extremely negative and fell well below acceptable standards.
From the outset, the property was not suitable for occupation. When we moved in, there was a serious bee infestation that made the house uninhabitable. Although this was eventually dealt with, the overall condition of the property remained very poor. Despite being advertised as unfurnished, the house contained a large amount of unwanted items and appliances, all of which we had to remove and store ourselves.
The garage was in an even worse state, as it was full of rubbish and affected by a mouse infestation. As a result, it could not be used for storage, and items we placed there were damaged. Inside the property, ventilation was inadequate and the house was extremely difficult to heat. Black mould was already present before our tenancy began and continued to worsen, damaging some of our clothing. We were forced to spend our own money on mould treatments and a dehumidifier simply to make the house livable.
Throughout the tenancy, there were repeated issues with the oil tank, which we raised with the letting agent on multiple occasions. These concerns were not properly understood or resolved, leading to significant inconvenience and wasted time. When the tenancy ended, we were charged for 929 litres of oil, including usage after our tenancy had finished, despite the tank not being full when we moved in. This deduction from our deposit was completely unjustified.
We were also charged for a professional clean at the end of the tenancy, even though the property was left in a better condition than at the start, particularly considering the pre-existing mould and general state of disrepair.
Communication from C&D Rural was consistently poor. Emails often went unanswered, and we were frequently given very short notice for property viewings, including being informed late in the evening about viewings scheduled for the following morning.
In addition to these issues, the property suffered from ongoing pest problems, including slugs, woodlice and beetles.
Overall, we felt poorly treated and unsupported as tenants. The lack of effective property management and basic communication made this a very unpleasant experience, and we would strongly advise others to consider alternative letting agents.

Our experience with C&D Rural was extremely poor from start to finish.
When we first moved in, the property was unlivable due to a bee infestation. Even after this was dealt with, the house was left in a very poor condition. The property was advertised and let to us as unfurnished, yet it was full of junk, including numerous white goods, which we had to move ourselves into the garage.
The garage was also unusable, being full of rubbish and infested with mice. Anything we attempted to store there was destroyed. The house itself suffered from poor ventilation and was very difficult to heat, resulting in significant black mould, which was already present before we moved in. This mould damaged some of our clothing and forced us to spend our own money on mould treatments and a dehumidifier just to make the property livable.
There were ongoing issues with the oil tank, which we raised with the letting agent, but they failed to understand or properly address the problem, wasting a considerable amount of our time. Upon leaving the property, we were charged for 929 litres of oil, including six days of heating after our tenancy had already ended, despite the tank not being full at the start of the tenancy. This was a fraudulent and unjustified deduction from our deposit.
Additionally, we were charged for a professional clean at the end of the tenancy, despite leaving the property in a better condition than we found it, particularly considering the pre-existing mould and general state of the house.
Communication throughout the tenancy was very poor. Emails were often ignored entirely, and we were frequently given inadequate notice for viewings, such as being told at 8pm that a viewing would take place at 10am the following morning.
The property also had persistent issues with bugs, including woodlice, slugs and beetles.
Overall, we were treated very badly as tenants, and the standard of property management and communication was unacceptable. I would strongly advise others to think carefully before renting through C&D Rural.

Really poor. No customer service at all. We arranged to view a rental property. 2 days later the property shows ‘let agreed’. Yes the market is really busy at the moment but it doesn’t mean you should treat people like this. No one rang us back or explained why this was. Total waste of our time.

I viewed a rural property, put in an offer and that was the last I heard from C&D Rural. The property I viewed went to a best and final date and is now SSTC and still I have yet to hear from someone. Fourtunately, after much discussion me and my partner decided the property wasn't for us, however if we still wanted the property, we had no chance of buying it because nobody informed us it went to best and final date and it had sold.
It's no good putting everything on facebook (this is how I found out) as not all of us have social media. On top of this, although the estate agent that showed us round the property was very kind, there was absolutely no preperation as she was half an hour late and had no information downloaded as 0 signal. Call themselves C&D Rural, but don't prepare for a viewing that is literally 25 minutes into the sticks. Still on the hunt for a property and I honestly hope our future home isn't advertised by C&D rural as I don't want to be dealt with like this again.

Pathetic service. Enquired about viewing for available property at 4pm on Tuesday - gave my details, and was told someone would get back to me. The following day, Wednesday, after hearing nothing back from them, I contacted their office again only to be told the property had already been let.
How are these jokers still in business with a lack of customer service and non-existent communication skills ?
Add this 1 star rating to the rest and avoid C&D Rural for any lettings.
I await the token gesture "one star review" reply from them...

Do not use this estate agent, There is a complete lac of communication no consistency what so ever. Always chasing and looking for updates from them when it should be the other way round. Completely useless In
all aspects and only bothered and seemed to get in touch when it involved money.
I would strongly advice anyone not too use CD Rural ever, you would have more chance of getting communication from a corpse.

If 0 was option I would have taken it! If you are looking for a reliable, friendly, professional, local family run business with a great customer service. THIS IS NOT THE COMPANY FOR YOU. Yes it is local, yes it is family run, however the lettings department are about as interested in their tenants as vegetarian is to a t-bone. The property we rented is cold, damp and covered in mould with holes in the roof so water runs down the internal walls. But hey, keeping useful fellow businessmen happy as opposed to PAYING tenants probably pays off. And anyway who cares, it's not your house! Oh, and don't expect your deposit back...it's a good little earner for doing naff all!!
