I've had a fantastic experience with Cheffins and I wouldnt hesitate to rent through them again.
The team was always professional and quick to respond to any questions or issues.
Maintenance requests were handled promptly and all process are explained clearly.
Special thanks to Taylor Anderson (Property Manager) for going above and beyond during our tenancy period and for guiding us all the way. He was also very helpful during the end of our tenancy.

Fraud !!!
I have rented a property from them in good faith and trust them when returning the property they will return the deposit. But when I left the property they started being nasty and not giving me right information for return. They telling me my deposit is with them TDS but after contacting with TDS they said its not with them. Now they are trying to explain me rubbish !!!
Don 't know how they are holding deposit when government changed law on deposit and this agency think it's the right practise !!!
Helen is rude person to deal, she doesn't know how speak to a person in good manner.
Please avoid them, unless you want legal battle with them for your deposit.

Scammer alert with deposit !!!!
This agency shouldn't be in high street openly scamming people with their deposit.
They are holding deposit for every rental property with themselves rather than with TDS, and when it's time to return the deposit then they become very nasty.
I'm reporting them with relevant authority, hope they are not getting away from this un-regulated practise.
If anyone planning to use letting service from this company, just be careful and ask them to give you proof that your deposit is with TDS not with them.
Also when returning the deposit they are not following the government regulation as the deposit is with them, so they think they can do whatever they want. Helen is very unprofessional and started shouting when she's caught red handed.
Please avoid using letting service from this company, and not recommending them at all.

Was not happy with our experience. Cheffins took the side of the developer who pushed our sale and threatened to kick both us and the people we was buying off out the sale if we would not agree to agree to a completion date despite us not getting all our survey back. We loved the house so we agreed however the customer service from Emma was not good at all. Very nasty emails and only happy having it there way. Clearly wanting a sale before leaving work on a Friday.

Happy with the service from Cheffins’ residential. From managing an intense few days of viewings during lockdown through to keeping the momentum of the sale process on track. With hindsight i query if it suited Cheffins for me to sell to another of their clients, will never know.

Recently sold our property in Cambridge with Cheffins. They marketed it well, had a good strategy and it sold over the asking price. Always had a good response from the office (especially Hollie) in the later stages when trying to navigate the exchange. My only complaint is an agent turned up to conduct a second viewing to our buyers without the keys! Other than that incident I would recommend.

Not recommended agency for renting they tok your personal details (salary, bills, credit check) before viewing the property. This against the GDPR. Application fee 375 pound for renting and tenancy extending fee 120 pound against the Tenant Fee Act 2019. Please avoid this agency!!!!!!

Called Cheffins as I was interested in one of their rental properties and wanted to book a viewing. The property had just been added to zoopla however I was told there was a glitch in the system. Thou the property was falsely advertised or there was a “glitch”, they still wanted to take all my details. The property that was unavailable is still advertised on zoopla. I believe someone may be in the process of trying to rent the property in which case the advert should be paused or taken down to avoid wasting people’s time.

Rented with Cheffins for two years. Very stressful. Six months after moving in, there was a hidden leak from the bath tub in a corner which I didn’t (and couldn’t) notice. The property manager stressed me out for not reporting the leak on time. In addition, they wouldn’t tell me how much it would cost to repair for a year. All that stress for 250 quid. In my second year, I got to know that the agency and the owner knew that this was a pre-existing issue with the property and withheld this information and put the blame on me. I am writing this review after much consideration to help others who might be looking to rent. Also, tried to buy a property with Cheffins. That’s a whole other story for another review.

I had a flat rented with Cheffins during the pandemic and now that the lease has completed I truly think I should give them a shout for the exceptional standard they have carried out for the service.
I have mostly worked with Hayley and Ben, and sometimes other folks on the rental team. Everyone is truly polite, responsive and being understanding of my need, for example when I requested a specific need of arrangement with the landlord. They are truly considerate and thinking for me when I asked to write in to lease document about leaving my own furniture at the end of term and compensating for the cleaning. I have exchanged numerous emails with Hayley throughout the agreement signing, she was all the time helpful and great to work with.
Also at the beginning of the tour of flat, when there were still restrictions in place, I was offered freshly unboxed gloves apart from the mask I was wearing. And the inventory photos were documented in excruciating detail noting small defects and conditions of the flat amenities, which really helped at the move-out process.

We purchased our house through Cheffins and had a brilliant experience. This was completely down to the exceptional customer service of Mia Platter-Jones. I called Cheffins in the weeks leading up to exchange and was spoken to by Mia. I had a number of questions and she called back promptly and was extremely helpful. My partner and I were so impressed, I asked how long she had worked for Cheffins for and she had been there less than a week. We were so shocked, she never said that she didn't know the answer, or that she was new and would need to check. She was extremely professional and clearly very experienced in dealing with customers as well as house purchasing. We would use Cheffins again, Mia is an asset!

Dishonest and delay sale to get the best deal for themselvs not for the land's owner. The farm's owner should put the overage clause on all of the lots you are saling.
Cheffins and Brown&Co. have for sale 1.4 million for 127.98 acres of farm land and many buildings, Hill Farm in Wentworth Cambridgeshire, with good road and great potentials.
When contacted them, both refuse to take new offer says they already get strong offer for all lots. Funny enough now 3 months gone but the farm is still for sale. Again when contacted, they are not excepting new offer even I am more than happy to pay more. These lots are good for the developers with no overage clause and the price tags of around 10k per acre this should take no time to be sold.

Very disheartened with my experience with Cheffins, the 3.4 star reviews say it all. As a business owner used to dealing in leases (although commercial) their vet/letting process very stressful, and they were not helpful in resolving issues as one would expect. In the first instance of the process greeting with rudeness and disengaging agents with attitude. We have switched gears to purchase now, but an utter waste of valuable time, negotiations in the process were positively disgraceful. Never had this type of experience with any other letting agents before. And actually felt discriminated against for unknown reasons with appeared to reflect an alternative agenda. Please do not respond with your standard, "we are sorry to hear this, how can we help" it is not at all genuine. When purchasing- this is the last company I would do business with.

I have found Cheffins to be an extremely professional and responsive agent. They were very clear with answering my questions before I took out a contract. They replied quickly when there were any issues, and dispatched someone to solve them appropriately. They also helped me to get some extra documentation I needed for my personal situation.
They used a 3rd party inventory agent for check-in and check-out, and consulted a cleaning agent for any training issues. The fees were reasonable.
Nathan and Helen are very helpful people here - not sure about the other staff, but they seem like a good bunch with good practices!

So impressed with Cheffins. We've worked with a few rental agencies and these guys are by far the most professional, efficient and fair agency we've worked with. Things just get done and they get them done properly. They are also a really nice bunch. I left something of sentimental value in the garage by mistake before we moved out and they were kind enough to pick it up and give it to my parents (we'd emigrated).

Cheffins have been wasting my time agreeing to some viewings to then move timings around and then again and then tell me the viewing would only be for 15 minutes...
There are enough better estate agents in Cambridge don’t waste your time with this one.

These 5 star reviews must be fake. Their customer service and communication with their clients is woeful - trying to pass the buck onto the landlord without evaluating their own performance. I would be ashamed to work for them. If you are tempted by a nice flat with them I would strongly consider picking a worse flat but with a better estate agent such as Carter Jonas. Bets are on how much longer Cheffins will be around for. Hayley however was a pleasure to deal but I doubt she’ll be there for long!

The Cheffins team went above and beyond several times, compensating for our not-so-good solicitors! Especially Rachel - she regularly communicated out of hours, dealing with both our sale and purchase. We sold our house in just a couple of days, I was particularly impressed with the brochure and photography. This got us about 15 viewing bookings very fast and we'd accepted an asking price offer on day 2.

As per many other emails below (apart of the ones they post themselves) this a very dodgy agency. We have made an offer to a house, got accepted and a week later they emailed me to let me know that someone else has offered more.The house in theory was marked on their site as Sold. They try to play the buyers and raise house prices.
Below is the response from their Director to me:
‘ How is that illegal? It is illegal to not make the vendors aware of an offer?
I have given you the opportunity to revise your offer, you didn’t want to? Did you want to put forward a higher offer? I am away from the office tomorrow but very happy to discuss on my return on Wednesday or I can ask one of the directors to call you tomorrow.’
Don’t waste your time.

If there was an option to give no stars I would have done so. I have had a terrible experience with cheffins, they aren’t genuine and are very dodgy. Previously I was going to buy a property from them and unfortunately the deal fell through at the last stage as we as the buyers also thought everything was running smoothly. I understand that sometimes deals don’t go through. We were now recently trying to buy our next door neighbours house who we had waited for a long time, they kindly let us know about the house going on the market. The period was managed awfully as I felt discriminated against and felt they weren’t trying to deal with us and just wanted to sell it to others interested even though we were increasing the offer at all times.
This company just sells houses to whoever they want. They aren’t genuine which is awful and once you have a deal that has fallen through, it’s like their trust for you has completely gone and they don’t want to even deal with you anymore.
But then who is the buyer supposed to trust? Because In all honesty, I don’t trust the genuineness of this agent.
I am appalled at how big companies as such can give the worst customer experience.

Best lettings agents I've interacted with. Throughout the whole process: viewings, application, contract agreement etc. and as property managers, they have been amazing! All the staff I've spoken to have been lovely and very helpful. They have been very reasonable and all maintenance issues have been solved quickly.
If only all lettings agents were like this - highly recommend!!

I had a chance to rent a property from Cheffins for a year and I can say that they were as a team professional and very helpful. My property manager Angie is an absolute star and responded to my e-mails quickly, even on her annual leave and she escalated matters as soon as she could. Getting the deposit back went very smooth as well. I do recommend the agency! In my opinion it's the best one in Cambridge. Thank you guys!

Very poor customer service from the lettings department. There were so many repairs in the house that were never completed even though they were highlighted at move in. The house was also not cleaned properly when I moved in and then they tried to charge me several hundred pounds to clean at move out. It took over a month to return my deposit after I moved out.

Be ready to be ignored all the time, from when you try to rent until after you leave the property. What a bad experience. First, when renting, the person in contact left for anual leave without saing anything, or pass the information to someone else... had to call all the time to get everthing sorted otherwise i would risk to lose the house when i was on a dead line to rent. Second, the property had a few diferent requirements regarding the gas and electricity that they are not even aware, and now 1 month after i left i am still trying to sort it, because they gave me the wrong information. Third, after i said i was leaving the property, the agency start booking views for other people, and you can see that they get stressed and offended when you refuse visits at some days, so what they do?? Show up on your door with 3 groups of people (7 people in total) when you are trying to rest, and when you do allow them to make visits and you are not in be prepared to find thing differently from the way you left them. Fourth, after ypu leave, they don't care about you anymore, even if they still need to give you deposit back (for me, only 33 days after) and i had to almost fight for it!!!
Good luck if you ever had to deal with them...

I telephoned before coming in and made sure others in the trade could help verify then a female assessors swept everything away with her hand declaring it was all nothing - didn't matter there were hallmarks on the Georgian brooch according to her it was'nt Georgian and as for my antiquity ring that too was swept away - I have never felt so looked down on then dismissed in my entire life - others have since confirmed the antiquity is just that but if it does turn out to be gold too this is one place I will never return to

We made and confirmed an appointment with Cheffins. They failed to show up, wasting an hour of our time. We also purchased our previous house through Cheffins, who delayed, and caused problems throughout the process. Terrible experiences as a buyer every time I've dealt with them.
