Been dealing with these guys for a few months now with regards to the sale of my house. I'd have thought that everything that they needed would have been brought up at the start of the process. That's far from the case. Each day brings another phone call with a request or new requirement that I feel should have been dealt with on day one.
Be sure to take all your annual leave from work so that you are available for them when they call. In my case it's been multiple vague voicemails during my working day asking to call them back with no actual insight into what it is they need from me. And when I do call back I'm put to an answering machine as their office is closed or too busy to take my call. Complain about any process you aren't happy about to them and you are met with literal arguments from them with made up timelines of "clear" messages they have sent.
Selling a house should be made simple for sellers. This place makes it nothing but a nightmare.

Nightmare company made me loss 650 in fees because they to lazy to reply properly and timely manner I had made an offer they told they could accept it if I get an offer for my property so I went and accepted an offer then they told me to tell my lawyers to make an offer so i did that I try to call them more than 10times every time we we’ll get someone to call you back and in last minute they told me ohh your offer is not accepted because we have another which the seller accepted what shame if you had other offers you could have informed me of this yet nothing blaming my solicitors and making excuses stay away from them if you want peace of mind horrible behaviour by this branch. Awful! Saw a flat I absolutely loved and the only thing making me hesitant about making an offer was that I’d have to deal with Countrywide Shawlands. My experience with them on this one flat was a shambles start to finish.
- The agent showing me round the flat just stood on the landing with a clipboard and had no answers to any of my questions, telling me to just check the home report or phone the girls at the office. The reason I was asking the questions is because the answers weren’t in the home report. Not really sure why he was there to be honest, apart from to open the front door as he didn’t point out any of the positive features of the flat or try to sell me it at all.
- I had queried whether I would have use of the car park which he stated I would. I later noticed in the home report I wouldn’t have access. Before making my offer I phoned the office to double check and was told I could use the car park, and was then later phoned back and told I couldn’t?
- At the viewing there was furniture sitting on the landing and I had asked the agent showing me the flat and also the agent I spoke to in the office whether that belonged to the seller and if it would be removed, to which both responded ‘It should be removed yeah, I think so’. Not very reassuring. It wasn’t until I mentioned that I wouldn’t want to have an offer accepted to find out there would be a neighbours furniture blocking my door that the office agent offered to phone the seller and find out for me.
- Deciding I would be silly to miss out on a lovely flat due to some incapable sales agents I made an offer. Yet on the day of closing I received a phone call from the office asking whether I would like to make an offer. I explained I already had and she apologised explaining she was just back her holidays and she hadn’t opened my file yet when she’d phoned. Surely this is basic common sense, to check the file of the person before phoning them?
I dealt with three separate sales agents from Countrywide Shawlands and all of them were as useless as each other. I’d recommend some serious training in basic sales and common sense. If you’re thinking of selling your home I would go with someone else because I really think they are hindering your chance of a good sale.

We reserved a new build property and was under pressure selling our existing flat in Shawlands. But Countrywide team helped us really well with the entire process.
The process started with Graeme McInnes helping us with the initial market research on pricing and comparable homes in the area. He helped us determine the best price for our home. Then the valuation was done and pictures were taken.
Before placing the property in market, Stephanie Woods , the sales consultant requested us to review the ad content, pictures and video. This was really good as we were being informed and involved in the entire process.
The best thing about countrywide is the existing client's database they have. Once the property is live in the market, the entire sales team Chanice Ray, Stephanie Woods, Lisa Carline and Aimee MacPhail helped us really quick with viewing appointments. Specially Stephanie helped us analyse the market and chose the best offer. We sold our property now and really happy with the price we got.

Graeme at Countrywide met me to survey my property in January 2021. I also had a number of other estate agents come and initially estimate the value of the property. Unlike some other estate agents who visited (whose names won't be mentioned!) Graeme didn't provide a strong "Hard sell" tactic. Instead, explained the options open to me (I was undecided whether to rent the flat out, sell it or list on AirBNB) and expressed that Countrywide were able to help with 2 of these (not the AirBNB.)
After considering my options for several weeks (and not being harassed by Countrywide unlike the other agents) I elected to list the property for sale with them. Countrywide sent a videographer to come and take videos and photographs of the property in a timely manner, and who made the property look excellent! A home report was also swiftly commissioned and conducted, with a value which we were happy with.
Once these were both completed (Monday & Wednesday respectively) then the flat was listed for sale on the Thursday. We commenced viewings a week later due to other work commitments, and within 3 days the property was sold.
I'm thoroughly pleased with the service which Countrywide offered, who remained exceptionally responsive and friendly throughout. I would have no hesitations whatsoever in recommending others sell their property through Countrywide.

Fantastic!
We can all agree that selling an apartment is very often stressful experience. However, the Countrywide Shawlands team made this journey fairly easy and a bit less daunting.
The whole process started with Graeme, who provided me with rough estimate and told me what I could expect in terms of potential market value of the apartment. He also gave me some hints and tips in order to give myself the best chance for the best price.
A home survey and a photographer were arranged very quickly. Both the photos and the video of the apartment were beautiful and really reflected both the character of the apartment and its good vibes.
Alice and Lyndsay were absolutely amazing with viewing arrangements and were always available for me answering all questions and cheering me up with very busy viewing schedule.
The whole team was always approachable and I never felt like I was left alone during the process.
The price structure is very clear and transparent and there are no hidden surprises.
I am very pleased with the service provided by the Countrywide Shawlands and I have already recommended them to all my friends.
Needless to say, if I am selling another apartment, I will definitely use them again.

This review is from June 2019. We had an appointment with Mr Ross Mortgage advisor. Very patronising to us and rude. We were applying for a shared equity house and he basically said got another people in front us and we will not get a house. The short of this we ended up moving to another mortgage advisor from another firm. We felt made to feel small.

Fantastic, friendly service and very professional from start to finish. Starting with Rachel for the valuation to Graeme and Katie getting it ready to go on the market to Alice who conducted the viewing and dealt with offer; all were 1st class. Having not sold a property before there was no issue asking questions and getting advice. They might not be the cheapeat but they are very reasonable and you get a great service id rather the service quality than just the cheapest option.

Service started off brilliant but has severely dipped.
Setting up tenant was excellent - advertised at a higher value than I expected, I had an agreed tenancy within the week and the tenant moved in two weeks later. Contracted works were done fast with the decorator attending on one days notice.
Unfortunately, there has now been numerous issues, leaving me on the borderline of leaving. I have had to attend the agents twice to understand why money has come from my bill as no prior notice was given, the works just done, money taken and the invoice not clear.

They were very competitive with their charges, but you could add additional marketing should you wish to.

From my initial chat with Graeme from Countrywide, I was impressed. I'm not new to the house selling process however Graeme was informative and answered all my queries clearly. Moving forward, communication from him was efficient; there was no delay in the process of getting the property to the market swiftly and hassle free. We also received a good deal and discount on the marketing package.
Throughout the time our property was on the market, I was contacted by Countrywide Shawlands at regular intervals by Susan, Craig, Katie, Alan and others with updates; it was good to be kept in the loop with the state of the market and what my options were should the property not sell. They were always positive! Arranging viewings with potential buyers was also a very straightforward process.
Unfortunately, our buyer had some issues with their mortgage application which resulted in a delay in the sale, it's taken 3 months. Thankfully however the buyer persevered with things! Throughout this time anxious time, there was very little communication from the buyer’s solicitor so Countrywide rapidly became the 'man in the middle'.
I genuinely can't thank the staff for their patience and assistance, Craig in particular. He clearly enjoys and knows his job very well. He provided best advice throughout and most importantly contacted the buyer on numerous occasions to find out how things were progressing. He made every effort to keep me up to date, at one point calling me at 9 p.m, that’s dedication for you!
I'd thoroughly recommend Countrywide Shawlands to anyone looking to rent or sell a property; they’re a friendly, helpful and entirely professional outfit.

On the initial visit I was made aware of general process for the area and the costs. Graeme from Country wide made out a plan of payments for the initial costs to assist in getting things off the ground.
My next contact was Susan who has been my main contact up to the sale. Susan offered concise and accurate advice. I had spoken to other Estate Agents and felt I was being told what I wanted to hear, rather than what I needed to know
When I put my flat on the market all I looked for was honest advice and I feel I have received this from Countrywide.
I have since advised a friend to go with Countrywide.
