Not a great experience. If you’re planning to sell a property in the Inverness area, I’d think carefully before being attracted by the £995 fixed-fee package.
In my case there was no clear or active selling strategy. The photography provided was poor and the overall experience felt unprofessional. My property sat on Rightmove and Zoopla for around five weeks with very little interest.
I eventually moved to another local agency, Home Sweet Home, who arranged professional photography, refreshed the listing and took a much more proactive approach. I was contacted multiple times by Home Sweet Home and was made to feel very valued. After switching, my property sold within three days.
This was just my personal experience, but the difference in service and communication between the two agencies was very noticeable.

We had been planning on moving to Scotland from England for a few years pending our retirements and were actively looking at property in the Moray/North Aberdeenshire area. Harper Macleod were recommended to us to be our solicitors for our prospective purchase.
Our contact at Harper Macleod was Susan Breen at the Inverness office. Susan advised us of the difference between the buying/selling systems in each country and, in our financial circumstances, how we ought to proceed.
Once we found a property we wished to purchase and had got purchasers for our property in England, Susan prepared our offer and regularly maintained contact during the buying process, liaising with our solicitor in England who was managing our sale as well as the solicitors for the vendor of the property we were buying. As a result of this we managed to arrange completion of a sale and a date of entry into our new home on the same day.
Moving house is a stressful process, doing it across two different systems of sale and purchase even more so. However thanks to the professionalism of Harper Macleod and Susan Breen in particular we feel that our move to Scotland has been far less stressful than it might have been. Many thanks to all involved.

Laura was absolutely incredible. Her professionalism and tenacity were consistent throughout. She kept us informed of every detail no matter how big or small and summarised everything in layman’s terms so we always understood what was going on. We recently used Harper Macleod to purchase a BTL property and found their service to be "exemplary". We dealt with both Gary Campbell and Laura Archibald, who guided us through the various stages, providing a responsive, highly professional service with excellent communication.
There are, perhaps, cheaper providers of "similar" services but in truth their fees represent a very small proportion of the total costs and their service and attentiveness gave us much valued comfort and reassurance through the process.

Had a very positive experience selling a property with Harper Macleod. Susan Breen and the team were extremely knowledgable, helpful and supportive. I was initially going to go with an another firm who had handled the deceased estate but was recommended by a friend to get another quote. I believe I saved around £1000 in fees by using HM (as the other firm were charging 1.25% of the sales fee plus VAT as well as estate agency fees) and as I said above the service was first class. Highly recommended.

I did not feel under pressure to engage his services. He was so helpful in bullet pointing the salient points in case law and where to find out more.

By far, the worst experience I’ve had with any service. And I have dealt with a lot of solicitors. They are rude, abrasive and so unhelpful to the point that they would rather be awkward than help you.
When asking why we needed to provide some sensitive information, the response was shocking, including and I quote “clearly this matter is going to be more hassle than it is worth”.
They refused to represent us, because we wanted to know why they required this particular information.

COVID19 prevention had already been explained, the member of staff I was seeing, was very polite & very professional. To say that the offer of a fixed fee has no hidden surprises is factually incorrect and does not align with consumer legislation. The fee is conditional on using Harper Macleod for conveyances. That fee is a staggering £1000. I am not impressed
