Hello anyone looking to rent a property from Harvey Residential, Do not deal with Harvey Residential. You will not receive your full deposit back + they will charge for made up 'damage'. Having looked into these guys further, this seems to be something they do quite regularly. We are totally out of pocket and have had a terrible time trying to rent a new place to live. Save yourself a lot of time and money by using literally anyone else. As good as they might seem in the first instance, they are total con-men. FYI: They'll claim that they have never 'dealt' with me as they have replied with on other negative reviews on here - a classic Harvey tactic.... Read more

We had the most unpleasant experience with Harvey Residential. We booked an appointment for a viewing in Bethnal Green and the agent looked as he was with a hangover. We loved the flat so we decided to keep it and make the deposit (one week's rent) He told us that an external agency would call us to get our references. A couple of days later we still did not receive any call/email from them, so we contacted Harvey Residential in order to get to know what had happened. They gave us the number of the referencing agency to push them. After that, we emailed them and, surprisingly, they responded saying that they did not work with Harvey Residential. We wrote Harvey Residential again looking for an answer and they told us that it was a mistake and they did not need any references from us and that they were ready to sign the contract. At that point we were very suspicious, so we asked for an exit clause just in case something went wrong. After several emails in which they refused to add the clause, we had to withdraw our offer and, consequentially, they kept the £330 deposit. My advise: do not trust the agency, they are totally unprofessional and even the flat they were offering was beautiful, I feel now so much relieved of not having to deal an entire year with them. ------- I am editing my original review because Google does not allow to add a reply to a previous response: 1. We asked for a 6 months exit clause because all the things I already mentioned (agent's lack of professionalism, strange behaviour regarding the references, etc.), but we were totally open to discuss an alternative exit clause or at least to hear a "sorry guys, we know that things have been a bit weird so far but everything is all right", which never happened. You just cannot act in this way and think that people will trust you, specially if we had to pay more than £3.000. 2. We never blackmailed you, we literally withdrew the offer first and then, at the end of the email, we added: 'we saw some bad reviews about HR but, again, we were really keen on the flat. I think we should add a comment with our experience too'. This is not blackmail. 3. Lastly, we were the ones who, on our own initiative, came into your office that same day because we were very interested in the flat. The agent was acting in such a strange way, that we had to tell him to print the form, to sign it, and even we offered to pay right there because he was not mentioning it. In conclusion, instead of saying that we are disingenuous persons or that we are slandering your staff, maybe you should apply higher standards to the people working at your office and not blaming your clients for feeling scared/suspicious when you act in such an unprofessional way.... They are the most organised and knowledgable managing agents I have ever dealt with. Unlike a lot of other agents I have dealt with over the many years in the building trade, Harvey Residential actually know their stuff, clearly have experience and are very organised. They seem to go see every issue with their own eyes so the scope of the work is clear from the outset. I have seen them go well above and beyond the scope of a managing agent. If I was a landlord, they would be my first choice as letting/managing agent.... Read more

I have dealt with many estate agents and letting agents in the past with no problems. However, I found Harvey Residential very frustrating and disappointing to deal with. They advertised some properties through Zoopla, Rightmove and on their website. When I filled in the enquiry form on their website, they just didn't bother to reply. I left voicemails which did not get a reply. When I eventually got to speak to speak to someone, they were incredibly arrogant and extremely rude. He just said "they're all gone" - even though they were still advertised to let for several days. He told me I was wasting his time, and he would not want to rent to me anyway! Then he hung up on me.
