I had a deeply disappointing experience with this estate agent. From the moment I submitted my offer to purchase a property, I was repeatedly given misleading information. When significant issues were raised by the surveyor, the agency continued to be evasive rather than transparent. Their handling of the entire process felt highly dishonest and left me unable to trust anything they said. I ultimately withdrew from the purchase because of their behavior, and I would strongly advise others to approach this office with caution.

We can’t recommend Zak at Stirling Ackroyd Estate Agents Dalston highly enough. He went far above and beyond to help us through the entire rental process, from our first enquiry to signing the contract and moving in.
As we were outside of the UK at the time, Zak arranged a virtual viewing for us and sent us detailed videos of the property, which gave us complete peace of mind. He was incredibly quick to get the process moving once we decided to proceed and always kept us informed with clear next steps and prompt follow-ups. His communication was outstanding — he responded to our questions almost instantly, no matter the time of day.
We did have a couple of slight issues on our side with the application, but Zak was so patient and supportive, working closely with us to get everything in order and keep things on track.

My and my Husband have recently moved into a property that was first shown to us by Christina. We have had some not- so positive experiences with estate agents in the past but Christina was a breath of fresh air. She was so friendly and down to earth and especially NOT PUSHY which was something we really appreciated , almost like a friend showing you around.
There was some delays through out the process (none of which were her fault) but we could tell that she was trying her best to get them resolved. She kept us in the loop through out and was available on the phone if we needed help.
I would 100% recommend giving her a shout to help you out when looking for a property, she’s great!

I am changing this review from 5 to 1, as I was put under some pressure to do this well before completion earlier in 2023. We thought we had found our dream flat in Dalston Square, where Stirling Ackroyd represented a number of buy-to-let premises being divested with the onset of higher interest rates. However, we were not comfortable with the agent/panel solicitor assumption, which appears to be common amongst a number of agents in London, that it should be standard practice for the seller's solicitors to act for both parties. Also the agent did not know much about the energy and environmental aspects of the development, which, together with the over landlord-friendly lease terms, put us off the purchase in the end.

Had a bad experience with Stirling Ackroyd in 2014 and was reluctant to use them again. Moving forward to October 2023 I decided to let my property with them hoping they were under new management. Surprisingly they were! Phillip Holland was extremely knowledgeable and more than that he was really helpful in getting me the exact tenants I wanted. I am so grateful for all his input and understanding. The other person I must mention is Christina in the office. She’s literally a gem so helpful and nothing was too much. So much so when I met the tenants they were also raving about Christina and how wonderful and helpful she was to them. All in all I am pleasantly surprised by the changes since 2014 and would not hesitate to use them again and again.

While had a great experience when first moving into our rental in September 2021, we were pushed for an unreasonably high rent increase in June 2023. 3 months before our tenancy ended, Stirling Ackroyd was attempting to pitch a 28% rent increase to us, suggesting this was in the area of what our landlord was looking for.
In reality, the landlord has already let us know he needed less than half of this to secure his new mortgage. Ultimately we agreed to a much lower increase closer to average increases in the area, but was left with a bad taste by the attempt to squeeze us for far more.
Disappointed to find that a heated market for renters is being driven, at least in part, by these agencies.

We purchased a home in Dalston last Feb. As with any buying experience there were hiccups, and when we were cornered into agreeing to something we were uncomfortable with or canceling the sale every agent came out of the woodwork to promise us that it would be ok and that the issue would be corrected at time of completion. One agent even went so far to guilt us about how she doesn’t get paid unless we proceed with the sale. The completion dates comes and goes, yet not a peep from the SA agents.... and when we called them out on their promises (which we have in writing) all they did was point fingers at other people and sorry it’s out of their hands. Sorry isn’t good enough!!! We had to get additional lawyers involved to solve our issue, with none if the support of the agents who were supposed to working on our behalf.
And the kicker? When we got our keys after a 3pm completion, I was given notice from the agents right before their end of day. They emailed TWO HOURS LATER to say that I had 15 minutes to get to the office ir keys would not be released til the next day. After the the most stressful day I was able to make to the office in time, only to wait outside for 15 minutes Bc the person at the office “was in the back and didn’t hear me”.
