The staff at Malcolm James really let me down with my flat purchase. Put my offer on the property on 11th March which was accepted. I eventually had to withdraw my offer on 4th August because the lease term was under the required amount for the mortgage lender. This was found out after the valuation on 13th June, I have been chasing Lorraine since this date to confirm the lease term so that I could progress with the purchase. I kept getting fobbed off with excuses. How long does and should it take to find out a lease term??? I am really disappointed in the service i have received. The property has since gone back on Rightmove and yet the lease term is still not sorted. BEWARE if you want to purchase this property because you will be left hanging like I was. Have received no apologies throughout these last few months. I will definitely not recommend Malcolm James if you want to buy a leasehold property and I will not use them again!! BIG LET DOWN. No doubt they will try and defend themselves but I have all the proof.

Awful experience with Malcom James estate agents, they made the purchase of our new home overly stressful. We found them to be not only unprofessional but also very rude. When we eventually moved into our property we heard nothing from them, not even a welcome to your new home! Stay away, there are more professional and friendlier estate agents around the Peterborough / Whittlesey area.

We dealt with Malcolm James a number of times while buying a house, they were all lovely, transparent, helpful and efficient, even after the purchase was complete and there was no monetary gain in it, they couldn't have done more!

Jesus. Where to start? The staff were unprofessional, unreasonable, and passive aggressive. The property was not as advertised. Communication from the office was poor at best. Upon taking the rental house, damp proved to be a problem. Despite repeated attempts to highlight the problem, Malcolm James refused to deal. Apparently, the damp was 'the renters problem to deal with'.
Furthermore, when leaving the rental contract, I was threatened with a poor reference for the next house I was taking (mainly to escape Malcolm James in the first place) because I had apparently been 'disruptive'. Pretty sure, seeing as the property was handed back in the same condition it was received, that is illegal?
I would not recommend dealing with Malcolm James. Not at all.

Over the last couple of years we have used Malcolm James twice to sell properties. On both occasions they achieved successful outcomes for our family. The staff were really helpful, knowledgeable and were skilled in negotiating through a range of difficult issues. They are a professional company, we would not hesitate in recommending them and would certainly use them again in the future.

Appalling, unprofessional and staff are barely educated.
On taking up the tenancy I was told the landlady would refurbish the property. I moved to into a damp/mould ridden property which should have been demolished. Only on the basis the property was going to be redecorated and leaks from the roof would be attended too.
After persistent complaints, month after month still nothing was done to the property despite, the property inspections taking place.
The more I complained the more staff became intimidating. I had also heard they make stuff up to get tenants removed from properties. (So if your face doesn’t fit.) this happened to me.
I also had to apply to the deposit scheme to get my deposit back, which I did get back in full. Despite persistent emails and phone calls, from the agent stating the condition of the property was my fault and I should compensate the landlady!
I also had terrible rumours spread about me via the lettting agent. So my advice is DO NOT USE THEM.
The good reviews on this site are written by staff! So watch out!

Absolutely the worst estate agents I have ever dealt with. Booked a 2nd viewing to be asked to come early, changed my plans left work to be told they couldn't make the viewing. Booked it 2 weeks later, they turned up 15mins late and with the wrong keys so still haven't viewed. If only the seller knew what service they were getting for their money. I have since given up with that property for this reason. I don't feel they deserve the selling fees.......

The most professional and courteous estate agent in Whittlesey. I can’t recommend Malcolm James highly enough. They are been absolutely fantastic in selling my property and went over and above from beginning to end. Will be using again. With thanks to Lorraine, Margaret, Beth, Julie, Chris and Denise.
