We have been renting a property from martin and co for almost 4 years and it was always smooth sailing. They respond quickly when something was wrong and they were very supportive when my husband and I started looking for our own house. They swapped us over to a rolling contract so it would be a bit easier for us and even the process of handing the keys in and getting the deposit back went smoothly. Honestly best agency I’ve used in years of renting across country.

I wouldnt even rate 1 star. I viewed a property, got in touch with the office and completed the application process whilst still at the property. I was then dealing with tamira and was told I would be passed over to the property manager to proceed in renting. After a few days i hadn't heard anything back so I contacted the estate agents again. I was then told that the property manager is now away for a week. After 2 weeks of me waiting for a response, despite ringing and enquiring multiple times what was happening with the property, they eventually informed me that they had actually proceeded with someone else instead.
I also had another viewing booked for another property, due to the lack of updates with the 1st and the urgency of needing to move. My appointment was pre booked with adelaide for the afternoon as I was travelling 3.5 hours via public transport to the viewing. No one arrived to the appointment and upon ringing the office to enquire where they were, they had informed me that no booking had been made & there must of been a mix up and there wasn't anything they could do. Wasting my time, effort and money. This compnay has a Sincere lack of professionalism and communication.

I have to say im really pleased how things are being run at the moment...and i have to also say if im totally honest it wasnt always that way for me..ive had quite a few problems in the past...but...since things have changed ....i have found ...it great...
I have been dealing with Jenna Parry..for any problems i have concerning this property...and have found her to be a breth of fresh air....nothing is to hard or difficult for her to do...she listens...and most important gets things done...and always keeps me updated...
I have also found that in the past i didnt have a connection with my landlord......as my landlord doesnt live round here....so could never communicate properly if things needed doing.....even through the letting agency missed comunication sometimes nothing in the past
But jenna really has helped with this and i feel a lot more settled knowing ..i can comunicate through her and i feel she looks after both partys not just the landlord ..Just like to thank Jenna for everything she has helped me with so far......one happy tennant ??????????

Possibly the most bizarre experience I've ever had with a lettings agent. I phoned to enquire about 2 properties to let and secured viewings for each on different days. The first viewing time rolls around and nobody shows up, I wait for half an hour after the viewing slot and try to call the office multiple times but was on hold for ages. I thought "fair enough, sometimes mistakes are made" and that I'd just call them in the morning to rearrange. I had my second viewing the next morning that went totally fine and subsequently managed to get hold of someone from the office. As soon as I'd begun to explain who I was and what the situation was they abruptly put the phone down on me mid sentence...
Totally bizarre behaviour, it seemed like the woman on the phone realised who I was and just decided she couldn't be bothered dealing with me, especially considering I got no call back, no response to my emails or voicemails. I just wanted to view a flat so to be met with at best ignorance and at worst blatant unprofessional behaviour was a little bit jarring. I sincerely hope this is just a big misunderstanding and will edit my review if it's put right but until then. I'd say avoid unless you want to waste two days trying to book a viewing only to have the phone put down on you for no apparent reason. ????

The most appalling agent I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. I rented a flat from them for two years. I was left with a door, my only access to the property, which did not lock. I am in my 70s and live alone. They put me as well as my possessions at risk of harm and theft. When I tried to explain the situation I was mocked and ridiculed in the street. The manager would not accept or return my phone calls. I was forced to move my bed out of the minuscule bedroom and into the living area for half of the year due to cold and damp which was never rectified. The last straw was when the abusive member of the staff phoned me and again was insulting. Enough is enough! Eventually I was done with them; or so I thought; but now I am trying to get my deposit back but they are just giving me the run around. I have learned that personal information, which incidentally is untrue, has been passed on to others. They are refusing to give me the owner’s contact details (which he actually gave me when he first took over the property, but sadly I got rid of when I left) which they say they are not allowed to pass on. This is wholly untrue. The law states that I have a right to this information and therefore they are in breach of the law if they withhold it. From my personal experience I have found that they have no respect for their tenant, the law, the truth, or the properties they manage. I did, with difficulty access the owner’s email address and have appealed to him to intervene thinking that he would want to protect the reputation of his business (if it is not already too late). The time that has passed since I contacted him is more than enough for him to have returned my deposit and dealt with his unprofessional personnel. I know flats are increasingly difficult to find and Martin and Co seem to have more than their fare share of those advertised, but if you can rent through ANY OTHER agent I would very strongly advise you to do so. Needless to say I will not let the matter of my deposit rest until I get it back; no matter how long it takes!

It's been weeks (update: over a year now) since I've had problems that needed fixing, one of which they claimed would be done May 1st 2022. It's now July 27th so do the math. They're so lax you'd think they were on holiday without a care in the world about servicing their customers. It's like they expect YOU to chase them up for problems they created.
The ceiling was one of many documented issues they never fixed after claiming it would be before May 1st 2022. This extends to heating, door locks, and beyond like water dripping from the ceiling (watch the video).

I recently rented a property and had some issues when moving in.
* The key I was given for the property didn't work. It hadn't been checked and nobody came to show me into the property.
* I wasn't given a key for the bin / meter room so I couldn't set up the water bill. I emailed about it and got no reply after 10 days. I emailed again and got told it would be sorted out but nobody came after 4 days. In the end I had to go to the office myself and the keys were there all along.
* I asked for details about the electricity so that I could set it up in my name. The first message I sent wasn't replied to. Then I was given the wrong company for the supplier which I wasted a month chasing up.
I still haven't got everything set up after a month when it could all have been sorted in 10 minutes. It's been extremely depressing when it could have been a trouble free and positive experience if the agent had been proactive.
I wouldn't usually give such a negative rating but there are 14 5-star reviews for a different company called Whitegates so it seemed reasonable to share my experience.

Do not go with this letting agent, absolute shocking. I have mould and damp all over my bathroom and bedroom. Can't even wash as shower is unusable, got paint falling of walls in kitchen. They don't do anything apart from sit in office twiddling there thumbs. Stay away from these at all costs. Put a review on before about them got asked by staff to take it of. Not this time. Find another place do not go with this company

For years I've had nightmares with the management company that I've been using and then I found Joe + Jenna, both sold me the dream but obviously I was cautious after years of false promises from another agent.
After a meeting at there office and hearing what they had in mind I decided to give them a try and can honestly say that I'm gobsmacked at how quickly and efficiently they have let out the property. Communication all of the way through and I must say most of the credit goes to Jenna so thanks a lot and I will look forward to the service from here on out.

A disgusting way to treat a new mum!
My daughter gave birth to twins in February and I think the stress she has been put under due to incompetence of Martin & Co St Annes is disgusting. In short, she has been reporting damaged pipes at her rented property which is managed by Martin & Co which cause her garden to flood on a daily basis since the start of January. We have lost count of the amount of times we had follow up this repair to no avail. On Saturday the whole drain fell from the wall leaving a gaping hole and no way of drawing her bath, sink, washing machine. Her neighbour is understandably concerned about the water seeping in to his garden, which is loading more stress on to her and still no sign of a repair man. I am absolutely astounded and furious that my daughter has been caused so much unnecessary trauma at an already stressful time in her life and let’s not think what could have happened if my grandsons were outside in their pram when the whole cast iron pipe fell. The staff at this branch have no taken any responsibility, Jack, Caitlin and Jenna have all dealt with my daughter regarding this issue and not one person has tak
en the initiative or the responsibility to sort this for her.

Absolutely awful and unprofessional estate agents. Had problems since day one with this unprofessional outfit. Zero help with any
maintenance issues. The 'emergency contact' number goes to nothing on whatsapp or text which they inform you do in an emergency situation. Jokers. I always have to sort out any issues with the property with my landlord and this lot don't do anything or offer any help.
On my first day of renting the property, the agent cancelled my moving in time within an hour of us moving in and I had a car loaded with stuff and we'd already set off. I posted an initial bad reviews of the business here on Google as we were waiting. When greeted by the estate agent, the first thing she did was have a major strop about my review before even offering any apologies with the changing of times. I'd had major surgery too at the time so was not ideal at all. Honestly, avoid these jokers. I've got no time or respect for them now as they obviously don't care about their jobs or take it seriously, I'm guessing the higher ups don't either and just want peoples money. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!

Absolutely atrocious customer service. I even informed my landlord directly that it was in his interest to find another agent to manage the property. Numerous complaints regarding the property, not to mention the fact I was charged outrageous fees for a broken electricity meter, I had to subsidise an electrician myself to confirm this as Martin and Co completely refused to assist. Furthermore, I have been out of the property for 15 days, and check out has only just been done today, but is still not complete. If you love stress, sleepless nights, and incompetent staff, look no further! Avoid unless absolutely necessary.

I have been a tenant in the same house managed by Whitegates for over 11 years. They are very professional and trustworthy. Any needs are seen to effectively and quickly and they understand (unusually) that a rental arrangement is a two way contract with each party needing the other's good will and because of that, the relationship works very well. I can thoroughly and genuinely recommend Whitegates, with Dan and Lauren running the business as I would myself. (Richard Bird).

I have been most impressed with Whitegates, St. Annes, particularly with Dan Proctor. He has kept us informed at every step relating to the letting out of our house in Lytham. We approached Whitegates to market a 2 bed flat that we had available in St. Annes. The flat had been to let through another local agent for 3 months without any interest, but within 30 days of the place being photographed a new tenant has been found, credit & reference checked and moved in. Dan and Lauren have been absolutely fantastic from the start, nothing is too much trouble for them, and they go the extra mile to make sure we've been kept up to date at every stage of the process. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for an estate agent!

They followed up on everything and everyone while the home was on the market, kept me informed of what was happening at all times, and generally held my hand while I was out of the country during the home sale.
