We rented a flat through Martin and Co from 2020 - 2025. Our agent's name was Vicki and she was always very easy to get hold of and would always answer queries quickly. Only a couple of times in that 5 year period did we ever have to chase anyone for a response. They always ensured that any fixes we required were done as quickly as possible and the handyman they used for this was also always a joy, very friendly and would always text ahead when he intended to come round so we never had any unexpected visits. The check-out process was smooth and we did not have to deal with any disputes and the team were very quick in ensuring our deposit was returned. Having heard many a horror story from other renters about estate agents and landlords, it was a relief that our experience was so positive and we certainly felt very lucky with this. Unfortunately the sellers agents had a lot of trouble to get things sorted but David kept us up to date on the proceedings. Martin & Co Tunbridge wells I don’t know where to start… From the moment we began our rental experience with them it was far from easy. Unfortunately they are a family run franchise which comes with is downfalls such as unapologetic staff, they all back one another and there is no customer service skills. I have attached some photos of the living conditions we were summoned too with Martin & Co thinking that this is habitable standards. In the end I had my own builder surveyor look at the property who deemed it mouldy, damp and inexcusable to not fix. We tried to leave the property due to health reasons relating to the photos however they pressured us for thousands of pounds or to stay and ride it out until the end of tenancy. Mid way the landlord had the EPC conducted in which the electrician needed to move all of the radiators and subsequently left behind holes in the wall that bugs, dampness and spiders loved! When asked if work was going to be done to fix this David the owner said “it might be I’m busy right now with my family”.- it never was! We were continuously blamed for the mould even though there was evidence from the previous inventory & tenant. Now we know why our property tour was made so quick when we first enquired. My partner had to complain about David on many occasions due to his rude & degrading language towards young women and often sounded drunk. A clear sign to us was the empty bottles under his desk when driving past the franchise also! We had 6 monthly checks where they would take photos of our private belongings which we were never made aware of until a man turned up at the doorstep with a camera. I was always happy & accepting of routine checks but I have never had one who took regular photos? When it came to leaving and gaining our deposit back we was charged for the electricians damage and not given any justification for charges. We lost so much and £££ worth of furniture and clothing. We lived our final months with nothing. Reflecting back we were made depressed and miserable by Martin & Co I feel saddened and mentally exhausted from having to put up with these slum letting agents for as long as I did! Please stay clear if you want your health, sanity & to breathe! There is so much more negative points to say however I feel I am only doing this to warn potential renters and Martin & co will never be apologetic or accept their disgraceful actions.... Read more

I had a great experience purchasing my first home with Martin & Co TW. I especially thank David Rogers who managed the purchase. As a first time buyer, David was very patient and clear with the different steps to home purchasing. Additionally, he was very responsive to calls and emails. If I needed an update from the seller side at any point, I would get an answer within a matter of hours and sometimes minutes. So grateful to Martin & Co Tunbridge Wells for their excellent management of our tenancy. I know our landlord was amazing so very easy to work with but we always had all our queries responded to within 24 hours and everything that needed to be fixed was fixed efficiently and without question. We had had a horrible time with the landlord in our previous tenancy so it was such a relief to have such efficient and straightforward management and communication for this tenancy. If i was to have posted this review at the beginning of our tenancy, the rating would be significantly higher. Unfortunately, during the end of our tenancy Tunbridge Wells Martin & Co have been absolutely awful. By law, if the landlord/agent is not renewing your tenancy, you must have written confirmation of this, which we never received, but we’re hassled to send our own email confirming we were moving out. There onwards, communication was sparse- with it taking up to a week to get a response, or at least follow up emails. No communication regarding viewings of the property, telling you the night before that there is a viewing and then no response to emails when you inform them this is not okay. They only contact you when THEY want something, never if you do. Multiple pre-existing issues with the property were promised to be resolved shortly after moving in- however were never fixed and are now being blamed on us, upon moving out. Zero regard for your personal situation, or what is suitable for you, forgetting people work full time and cannot be available to drop things off/take calls whenever Martin and Co want. Hugely upset with my final experiences with this agent, i would not recommend them due to their inconsiderate moving out/end of tenancy process.... Read more
