Edit: Thompson's, now Oakheart Property, appears to have had my review removed. In good faith I will not reiterate the whole issue, however I can assure everyone that this estate agent was completely unprofessional at the time of the pandemic, and was very unhelpful and inappropriate in behaviour towards a situation where there were clearly travel restrictions during the pandemic.... Our rent goes up randomly by ridiculous amounts for no reason, despite no jobs ever being done by the company even if you ask repeatedly, they have the monopoly on people who can’t or aren’t employed and exploit the situation to high heaven... Read more

Rented a property from them for over a year. First thoughts are that they were very thorough, albeit abrupt. However references were checked and all seemed professional. They very rarely checked the property which felt nice, like you were trusted to look after the property. However I fear its more 'lack of interest. Reported several repairs that needed doing, most were ignored. Never collected the "for rent" sign after multiple requests to remove it.Last 3 weeks of my tenancy were spent with no hot water or heating due to their electrical engineer killing the boiler and they ignored requests to fix it. Final insult was their reluctance to return my deposit, or over paid rent after several requests and pointing out they were in breach of their own contract. They chose to report a pest problem which I disagreed with however told them to deduct cleaning costs and return the rest. Currently ignoring my phone calls and emails leaving me having to dispute this with the TDS. Avoid this company. Very rude, unprofessional and currently withholding my money illegally.... Read more

Been using Thompsons to manage a rental property in Ipswich for several years. Very thorough in cross checking references for new tenants. If you want an agent who will take care of everything ie inventory, repairs/replacement with minimal input then Thompsons are the agent for you.... Read more

I was very displeased and also very angry with the service this estate agents have provided over the last month! To have taken my money and handed a house to someone else who has not paid a penny is a very fraudulent thing to do! I have paid good money and provided very good faith that they would provide the service that is to be expected! I would avoid this establishment at all costs. Very incompetent with admin and have lost all my trust! I can only imagine what they would have been like if I'd have gotten the house I'd applied for!... Read more

My experience was just an awkward one, it was a few years ago and we viewed a house and sadly although the house and location was great my 6ft 4” partner could not fit under the shower - or even the ceiling - so we politely said it was not suitable - as despite being present he obviously was oblivious to the issue... when we said this he got very angry and basically said ‘right well you can get your phone out and ring the office and tell them why you don’t want this house as you have wasted my time today and they will think I haven’t done my job properly’ I was absolutely gobsmacked! In total we viewed about 7 properties through other estate agents and nobody have any negativity to us saying no let alone to fly off the handle and demand we call the office. It has put me off ever viewing with them again when we move.... Read more

They take money for credit check and fees from several people for the same property and let the property to the person with the best credit score. So even if you have a good credit score they may not give you the property because they someone else has better score than you. And they hold the deposit. Not even worth 1 star. aviod at all cost... AVOID THESE COWBOYS WITH A BARGE POLE !!! My partner called to arrange a viewing to rent a property from these muppets, she was told that we could view it when it was convenient for us so she happily arranged, we patiently waited outside the property for 15 minutes and nobody turned up, no phone call, nothing ! We called them only to find out that they had staff shortages due to sickness...fair enough we thought...we'll reschedule then, we asked if we could view again the day after to be told they couldn't guarantee it but could definitely view again in 2 days, we accepted this and rebooked ! My partner called again the day after to ask about the size of the bedrooms because there wasn't any information available on their website, she was duly told "sorry the property has been let" !!! No phone call, no nothing !!! We totally accept and understand that it's "first come first serve" but how we've been treated is an ABSOLUTE DISGRACE !!! Please people, if you have got ANY common sense about you whatsoever seriously avoid these like the plague at all costs !!! You have been warned !!!... Read more

He's not a friend...he's just doing his job. I have rented from them for 7 years.....have had no problems at all. Allan in particular has been very helpful...as have the phone staff. When we viewed the property the mailbox had been vandalised and we were told this would be sorted before we moved in, it wasn't and we were told it would be sorted as soon as possible. We were there for a year and a half and it had never been sorted after asking multiple times. The electric heating was temperamental so we called Gary and arrange for him to come take a look, he never turned up so we just turned them all off and had to buy portable radiators. After the first annual inspection i brought up the fact that the extractor fan had recently stopped working again Gary said he would get it sorted but we never hear anything again and mould started to grow in the bathroom because of it. The water cylinder would turn off because the filaments were faulty/old and worn-out, the very helpful electrician they sent got it working again and said he would recommend new ones but would need both Thompsons and the landlords approval obviously neither of them thought that hot water was very essential and didn't get back to me so i ended up having to check it everyday and fixing it myself whenever it tripped off. In the building we were in the water bill was calculated but totalling the buildings bill and dividing it but the properties, when we moved in we were told the bill was X amount so thats what we budgeted for we then never received another bill until we moved out. We done the maths so expected the bill but to our surprise the amount had changed and Thompson didn't feel it necessary to inform us of this so most of our deposit we received back was taken away to pay the new water bill. Most estate agents are terrible to deal with but Thompson estates are by far the worst bunch of slimy, unprofessional and inconsiderate jokes for estate agents If you can just Avoid them... Never rent or buy a property from them. I have lived in one of there property's for two years they hide the damp with a lick of pain. When it reappears 6 months into your tenancy they will blame you tell you not to cook or use your kettle coz that how rising damp works really. My hole house is full of damp even my upstairs. They won't let me move out as they tell new landlords I have rent arrears which is lies. I was made to wait 8 days without a toilet over Christmas before they would fix it. The list goes on.... This company should be avoided at all cost!!!... Read more

There are worst service Estate Agents name Gary he's total twisted liar person used live in there property. There are not great service people there bring are rubbish working live there for 8 year there had mould problem building used to live. Most of there property there not fit to rent to no one. My strong advice on anyone never take rent place from them our even buy house there are most unreliable person there service total joke and really rubbish. There are a good liar there make you your in the wrong to cover themselves track there only interesting making money out of you there not interesting to help you at all when need there help....
