3rd Mar 2026 (15 days ago)Aviod!!!!! Checkin all good, but the property management team is useless. We had a moulding dishwasher and takes weeks to get it fixed (by us contacting the provider). They will try anything to grab your deposit , we are disputing on DPS

As a tenant, I have always been satisfied by the way the team passes information and responds reactively. I want to thank in particular Jonathan Davis as my property manager for over 2 years. His valuable services, whether in addressing issues, relaying information, advising or simply listening have always been excellent. I truly trust this team. They are professional, approachable, well-organised, and responsive, dealing with any queries or maintenance matters promptly and efficiently. Communication is always clear, and we feel confident that everything is handled with care and attention to detail. Their ability to combine structure with genuine attentiveness sets them apart.
7th Mar 2026 (11 days ago)I rarely leave reviews, but our experience with Metro Village was easily the worst renting experience we’ve had. When we viewed the flat, Nick told us the main window — which was completely shattered — would be repaired before we moved in. Once we moved in and followed up, the agency said there was no record of that agreement and the repair never happened. Our letting manager Kevin was extremely difficult and unprofessional to deal with from the start. Emails regularly went unanswered, calls were avoided, and it was very clear he had no interest in helping tenants — despite us paying close to £30,000 per year in rent. Instead of helping resolve issues, he consistently sided with the landlord. Throughout the tenancy, important repairs were ignored and communication was extremely poor. It often felt impossible to get any clear response or action. Another frustrating issue was that the flat contained old items left by the agency (including used bedding and broken things) that we were told we couldn’t remove. This made it feel like the flat wasn’t really ours to live in freely, despite paying full rent. The most concerning part was the deposit process. We were presented with a long list of charges for small items — things like £5 for a lightbulb or £18 for a spatula that had clearly been used long before our tenancy. Many of these charges felt excessive and difficult to justify. If you rent through them, I strongly recommend using the official deposit protection scheme adjudication process if there are disputes. Once the charges had to be formally reviewed and justified, several of them suddenly changed. Even after agreeing the final amount, it still took weeks of chasing emails to actually receive the deposit back. Overall this was a very frustrating experience with poor communication, unresolved issues, and a difficult deposit process. I hope this review helps future renters make an informed decision.- 10th Mar 2026 (8 days ago)Although we did not move forward with the flat we viewed with John Payne, we found the service level to be a real breath of fresh air. Quick call back from enquiry, and friendly demeanour on the phone. We were shown around a property by Oliver and although not right for us, we were both impressed with him. He was informative, and direct, and I did not feel like I was being lead up the garden path with cheap sales language. Would absolutely recommend, and in particular Oliver at the Blackheath branch!

14th Mar 2026 (4 days ago)When moat housing took over maintenance/repairs they were all for responses quickly & accurately. While I only trust certain maintenance workers with 100% expertise. I now have experienced customers service very poor & lacking respect for their tenants. With a visit recently about having new windows & doors I found the approach was very frustrating & all one sided to say the least.. we was left very distraught & the anxiety levels pushed to 100%. We now find ourselves not confident with this company with regards have been in our house many yrs...with them having 10yrs contract left I hope they can improve the way they used to be and find that also works carried out are of high standard and respect to tenants always not all one-sided..

11th Aug 2025 (7 mo. ago)These people are cowboys and cowgirls, highly unprofessional course of dealings with these people. Met with the manager Jay and detailed all of my requirements to him; he wrote everything down and assured me that Isabel would be in touch on Monday. Call and let a message for her as she never called on Monday; wrote her an email to explain the nature of my conversation with Jay, she did reply on Tuesday via email and said she would try to organize something else. She has not been in touch. Eight years on in 2025, they are still horrific. DO NOT USE THEM.
27th Jan 2026 (7 weeks ago)John Payne were great to work with throughout the process. They were proactive with communication and clearly put a lot of effort in behind the scenes. While there were a couple of moments where I had to follow up, overall they were responsive and helpful. For the price, I think they did a really good job and achieved the minimum price I was aiming for. They had excellent knowledge of the local area and presented the property well to potential buyers. I also appreciated their honesty and realistic approach, rather than over-promising and then revising expectations later on.

I have had properties vacant for over 6 months in the past, but his ability to never give up is a testament to achieving satisfactory results. I have had a very good experience with them over the past few years for all the services they have rendered to us. I therefore strongly recommend them.

Jean Vallesi was our agent, and he was superb in providing guidance and support to ensure a smooth move in. The experience with Jean and Chestertons was much smoother than any of the previous letting agencies I have dealt with, and would highly recommend them to assist anyone in finding their next home!

It's been a difficult time to try to line a sale up for interested buyers while also looking for a new place. The team however stayed on the ball throughout the year, gave regular suggestions & updates, and stayed in touch. Sam especially gave the selling process his all and made sure everything progressed smoothly once we secured an offer, and was very mindful in guiding us through the process, and staying in contact with us, the buyers, and both solicitors!
