24th Jul 2025 (1 year ago)Its a difficult market for selling. Properties are listed in abundance with valuations perhaps starting too high. Buyers are few and far between which meant that we had only 4 viewings over the same number of months. Every viewing is therefore critical and needs your agent to be fully appraised of features and any questions answered. Initial valuations versus actual market sale price need to be considered carefully.

9th Jul 2026 (6 weeks ago)Average, poor communication, poor picture quality etc, didn’t really push the house via their platforms, wasn’t happy with the write up etc<br>Was told by the manager at the time I couldn’t put my house on for the price I wanted it to be on for…. I’m the customer right, never told on a couple of occasions that the viewing didn’t happen etc<br>Did like Deon the mortgage broker tho he was amazing<br>Went with another independent chain after 3 months and sold within 4 days<br>Would never go with a huge chain like this again

8th Aug 2026 (15 days ago)My Sister initially contracted Chamberlains to deal with renting out our Mothers house when she went into residential care in 2018.<br><br>I now hold the rental contract with Chamberlains. I live in Wales so I have to have a reliable agent that I can have confidence in, who can take care of the property on my behalf.<br><br>I have always found Chamberlains professional in dealing with myself and the tenant. Any issues that arise are brought to my attention and sorted out promptly.<br><br>They have contacts with trades people who can remedy problems like plumbing, electrical and general maintenance for example.<br><br>Chamberlains are also approachable and friendly when I need to phone. They also update me with new Rental laws, and notify me on any changes to my obligations as a landlord.<br><br>Chamberlains has found me good tenants through their vetting procedure when required. The property is also inspected regularly and reports sent to me.<br><br>I am very happy with the service that Chamberlains provide to me and I would highly recommend them.

The team were friendly, professional and highly efficient throughout the process. The property was marketed very quickly after instruction, with excellent presentation and proactive promotion. We were particularly pleased with how swiftly they found a buyer, which exceeded our expectations. Communication was outstanding. The team were always attentive, kept us updated at every stage, and were quick to respond to any questions or concerns. Their personal approach and willingness to go the extra mile made what could have been a stressful process feel straightforward and well managed. Thanks to Paul, Toby, Jess and Carolyn who we dealt with during the process and apologies if we've left anyone off. We would not hesitate to recommend John Lake Estate Agents to anyone looking to buy or sell property in the Torquay area. A truly excellent service from a knowledgeable and dedicated team.

8th Jun 2026 (11 weeks ago)Very disappointing experience with Rendells Lettings in newton abbot.<br><br>We expressed serious interest in a rental property in early May, provided documents immediately, travelled down from Oxfordshire to see if we could view the house, followed up multiple times by email and phone, and even visited the office in person (told them it was an 8 hour drive for us). After which we got not one call or email from the person who runs the lettings dept. Throughout the process we were repeatedly told that the landlord would “come back with further instructions,” but after more than a month we still received no proper update or clear answer.<br><br>And also they told us that they get so many applications they just don’t care and will not respond to anything. They refuse to do online viewings (which all the other agencies are willing to do), don't respond to applications (after you have filled out given them your life on paper basically). Complete limbo.<br><br>Meanwhile, the property remained advertised online the entire time!<br><br>What made the experience frustrating was not necessarily losing out on the property, but the complete lack of communication and basic courtesy. Calls and emails went unanswered, timelines were unclear, and we were left unable to plan our own housing situation despite explaining that notice had to be given on our current tenancy.<br><br>Other agencies we dealt with in Devon were far more professional, responsive, and respectful.<br><br>Unfortunately, based on this experience, I cannot recommend Rendells Lettings, other agencies in Devon are far far better and I can’t recommend them enough, Rendells lettings in newton abbot was in 25 years of renting through agencies the very worst experience i have ever had, take my advice and don’t do it

They dropped prices over a few weekends and gave the impression there was a problem but, the fact we sold it privately within days of making it available elsewhere only goes to show their lack of scruples.
