31st Dec 2025 (11 weeks ago)D R Kivell, in our experience, perform very well. We have been involved with them on two fairly significant transactions, and have also recommended them to friends. On each occasion, the outcome has been significantly more successful than major, well known, prestigious firms, which seemed surprising? Their response times are far quicker than the major firms, too. I'm fairly cynical about estate agents in general, as they tend to make promises and predictions that they don't then actually achieve - but I can honestly say that D R Kivell, each time, have achieved what they promised, and in good time! David Kivell seems very professional - I'm from a legal and commercial property background, and I rather grilled him about whether his predictions were achievable, and he stuck to his guns, and achieved exactly what he'd said. They seem good at valuations, too. Peter Palmer seems more like a wise, experienced farmer, and therefore very friendly and helpful. And he's a good photographer. Geoff Lupton seems to be the very helpful and efficient guy who keeps everything on track. Based on our own experiences, I've formed a very high opinion of them.

Communication was clear throughout, and the team were always responsive, supportive and proactive. What could have been a stressful process was managed smoothly, with genuine care and expertise. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them

Whether sharing his latest golfing or family anecdotes or diving into the nitty-gritty of contracts and small print, James has a gift for putting people at ease while ensuring clarity and precision. From our experience, one of the biggest stumbling blocks in negotiations is when parties are not fully aligned before a conversation takes place. James acts as the backdrop and container for these discussions, making sure that everyone is brought onto the same page. He keeps the conversation on track with seemingly little effort, and his ability to read situations and explain things clearly is invaluable. James’s approach is solution-focused, pragmatic, and fair. If he doesn’t immediately know the answer, he finds out quickly and comes straight back to you. What’s particularly impressive is his ethos: he seems to recognise that if one party loses, everyone does — so he works creatively to ensure the outcome benefits all sides. This makes him not only effective but also a genuine pleasure to work with. We would highly recommend James and would absolutely work with him again. 17th Oct 2025 (22 weeks ago)I rented a property via West/East of Exe for two years. It was a perfectly good experience. They were always friendly and responsive, and I had a good experience for viewing and securing the property, moving in, dealing with maintenance requests (of which there were only a few), and then the end of tenancy and move out process. It is worth noting that as West of Exe are an agent, to some degree the tenant experience also depends on how helpful and responsive the landlord is. In my case the landlord was quick to respond to the agency, and was very fair and reasonable, agreeing to the few maintenance requests I made. Repairs were arranged quickly. I also had no problem at the end of the tenancy - I returned the property in the condition I received it and my deposit was returned without question or hassle - again, this is also likely to be dependant on having a reasonable landlord behind the agency. Overall I had a good and smooth experience as a tenant.

20th Feb 2026 (26 days ago)I wish I had instructed Paul to sell my property initially because it had languished with 2 well known agents for Months without any sensible sale plan/updates. Paul offered straight talking, no nonsense advice. We had an offer within days of the viewings. Go with an agent who is as committed as you are to sell and will add valuable insight to the process. You won't be disappointed with Paul.
