I recently sold my house with Alan De Maid and I honestly couldn’t be happier with the service I received. From start to finish, the process was handled in a highly professional, efficient, and proactive manner.
A special mention to David Hughes - Branch Director, who personally saw the sale through and kept everything moving smoothly.
Communication was excellent throughout, with clear updates at every stage, which made the whole process feel simple, transparent, and completely stress-free.
The team were quick to act, knowledgeable, and always available to answer questions, making what can be a daunting experience feel straightforward and easy to follow.

I would tag this agent as poor and is well deserved. The 2 stars are earned for the slightly above ceiling price achieved, but there is much more to earning the full 5 stars than just the sales price…... they loose stars because of;
From the very start, the overpromising and a typical estate agent sales pitch and iPad presentation. Very smarmy and over the top.
The sales person said we would have contact with him for the entire process of the property sale and also he said, we aren’t like their competitors. He said “with competitors you’ll speak to the main man to start with but then have to deal with anyone who answered the phone and we’re not like that”. It transpires they do exactly that… we never spoke to him again or received any emails for the entire 6 months it took to complete.
The agent who showed buyers around our property blatantly lied as our Ring cam footage picked up her repeatedly saying to potential buyers that we had a south facing garden. We didn’t and not close.
The progressive/ progressions “team” or as it turns out, one person, loved to state her 30+ years experience but, if there is anything out the norm (which there wasn’t) was met with “I’ve never experienced that before”. You also get the strong feeling that they support the buyer more than the seller (who is actually paying them) to keep the sale going, showing lack of support for you the seller.
Overall a poor service with staff that are reactive instead of proactive and that give off the typical estate agent vibe. I would never recommend them.
FYI their “standard” 1% fee that “everyone” is asked to pay, is negotiable. If they don’t agree to a lesser fee, go the competitor nextdoor. They also try and charge you on top of this fee for AML checks that they want. Other agents cover this (I’ve checked). If they want it, pay for it. You’ll be paying for this again with your solicitor.

We have dealt with Alan de Maid ,Locksbottom for nearly 30 years and throughout this time the now office manager David Hughes. We bought our property through him in 1997 and he has now sold the same property on our behalf 28 years later in 2025. Throughout this period he has professionally given us valuations until we finally took the plunge this year to sell. David handled the whole process with utmost care & patience, not only to us and our property , but also any prospective buyers , in what has been not the easiest year for sales and,in turn, buyers. Importantly ,David and his staff, James and Mia, were always available and also have given us great advice in relation to solicitors or any other matters regarding the sale and also have been assisting us on our onward move even though it is out of the area and not with themselves.

We both sold our house and purchased our new home in the local area with the help of David and his team at Locksbottom. We discreetly marketed our property in the first instance but this was not effective so after a few months had it advertised through Rightmove and after a few weeks a buyer was found and a price agreed .
Initially communication with Alan de Maid was not as we would have expected on the sale but this did significantly improve as the sale progressed . The process became complicated because the buyer had problems with the service provided by their solicitor and they had to change solicitors . At this point David really came into his own with daily liaison with the buyer and their representatives and keeping us informed of progress .
As we were downsizing and wanting to stay in our area the number of properties available that met our needs was quite limited but David and his team were able to help us find the perfect property which we were able to move into on the same day we completed our sale.
Overall we have been very pleased with the support we received from David and his team and would use them again if we were moving but have no plans to do so in the near future !

David Hughes has done phenomenal job in supporting me in the purchase of a property that he was marketing. Whilst I was not technically his client, it was immediately clear that understanding my circumstances and meeting my needs was just as important to David as supporting that of his vendors. David invested time, energy and careful thought when providing pragmatic solutions to reconcile a buyer and seller who had polar opposite circumstances and requirements. That was the difference between this being just another failed property transaction statistic and achieving a successful exchange.
This should have been a routine transaction for me with simultaneous exchanges on my sale and purchase with a standard completion period. However, it quickly became fraught with complexity and time sensitivity. This transaction fell through on 2 separate occasions on exchange day; causing the chain to break between my sale, which went ahead, and the failed purchase. Eventually, some weeks later, we exchanged contracts with an extended completion clause however, David had to call upon all the skills and contacts that he has acquired throughout his many years in this business. This included bringing in his own solicitors to support a complex conveyancing process and supporting me in procuring a rental as a consequence of the broken chain and staggered completion dates.
The period between our first viewing and the day we exchanged spanned over 4 months and David's tenacity, humanity, focus and commitment was unwavering throughout. I would not hesitate in recommending David and wish him the best of luck in the future.

My property sale had legal complications which combined with a less than active purchaser' solicitor made the sale rather difficult. However with the professional and personable driving force of David Hughes (hero) and his team the sale progressed to a satisfactory conclusion. Great team at Alan de Maid, Locksbottom who work hard and are prepared to go the extra mile to get the results. Having bought through this office in 2009, we had no hesitation in engaging them to sell our house when we decided to move in 2017. Although not a particularly easy market place, they suceeded within a reasonable time frame, and made the whole experience as smooth as possible. Highly recommended.

Sadly I wan not impressed at all with the service I received.
I was told many things that did not materialised. The service was very poor from the start, errors were made and I had to continually chase the staff, took two weeks to get my property on rightmove, took three weeks for brochures which cost £500 waste of money, no photo in window and no updates. Basically I had to chase them for everything or all the above would have either not happened or taken longer. The only plus was that the staff were really lovely. I do not recommend ADMaid. Still waiting for my EPC and Photos after emailing them once, left a message and spoke to a member of staff ! That's the service I received. Good talk but little action.
