If I could give less I would, they contracted me after I put my house on with someone else, not sure where they got my details from. I said no as I had a bad experience with Bridgefords before. Didn't ask what this was, but talked over me asking if I knew what cooling off meant so I could drop the estate agents I was already with!
Despite me asking them to not contact me again, continued to send me post and call. Awful.

Couldn't recommend Victoria the mortgage consultant enough. She really has helped us every step of the way even with stuff unrelated to the mortgage. Anything i dont understand about the buying process I can just ask Victoria.????????????????

Quite pushy to use their in house services, and when I did - I was charged extra fees as they set me up with different in house solicitors. There was also a missed appointment during the process where I'd arranged childcare for nothing? Had to use Bridgfords as the property I was buying was through them, but wouldn't sell through them.

We had high hopes when first signing up to Bridgfords in Stalybridge but that soon changed. I asked numerous times for a copy or my copy of the contract we signed on 31st March. Despite being told that they had to request it from HR I still haven't received it to this present day 8th August 2025.
We were promised feedback on how the listing was performing but again this never materialised.
On signing we were told that our property would be featured on Rightmove again this did not happen.
On the 25th June they emailed me about a prospective viewing, I messaged back to find out if the initial contract period was up - it was so i set out clearly in writing that I wanted to take the property off the market with them and the reasons why. Despite doing this I had a further call on the 4th July asking for another viewing where I specifically set out that I had asked them on the 25th in writing to take the property of the market. Despite this my property is still listed on Rightmove with them today 8th August. Oh and I still don't have a copy of the contract.
Extremely poor and disappointing service, everything promised 'sales pitch' never materialised - I would not recommend them at all.

2nd Review 2025: I strongly believe Victoria Ashworth at Countrywide is the best mortgage adviser out there! I have spoken to more advisers than I can count on my hands over the last few years and none of them came close to advising me/getting me what I need like Victoria does, and she does this over and over! I don’t know how she does it, she always provided the best advice/rates/borrowings much better than anyone else, she is amazing! I never enjoy the process of buying houses as I’m sure most people don’t, it causes me stress and worry but the trust and faith I have in Victoria allows me to relax a significant amount as I know everything is in good hands! She communicates brilliantly, is quick and thorough, full of knowledge and as a result provides the most amazing service! The lifetime fee is well worth it as i wouldn’t want to use anyone else. Nothing is too much trouble, my endless questions are answered with speed, she even went as far as asking what changes she could make to better accommodate me after learning I am neurodivergent. Her knowledge, professionalism and expertise are second to none! Victoria and therefore country wide was recommended to me by multiple people the first time I purchased a property and I now recommend to everyone going forward. I first met with Victoria as a sole first time buyer, quite young, no idea if I could even get a mortgage, not a clue as to what the processes would be like when buying a house. None of the many mortgage advisers elsewhere could get me a borrowing high enough to buy so much as a flat. Victoria got me a lending significantly higher than everyone else, advised me to suit my needs and circumstances at the current time and got me the best rate on my house. Truly I wouldn’t have managed it without her and not only that she guided and advised me throughout the full process, going above and beyond to respond to all my queries/worries and occasional mental breakdowns when Solicitors/estate agents were not so helpful. I have since returned with different circumstances and once again she has pulled it out the bag in getting me what I need and is once again so quick and friendly in answering my endless questions and providing me with the best financial advice. The service she provides never faults and is consistently exceptional. To add I appreciate the emails I receive every few months, a benefit of the membership, that checks to see if I am benefiting from the best rate. Countrywide feels like a service that really does have your best interests at heart and you feel confident you are receiving the best advice. If you are looking to purchase a property or remortgage I would recommend countrywide a thousand times over and if you are within or surrounding the Tameside area then I would advise everyone to go and speak to Victoria within the Bridgefords Stalybridge branch specifically, you won’t regret it!

Was warned about Bridgfords being the worst in the business and had first hand experience. Just glad we never bought through them in the end. Rude, lacking basic customer service and courtesy, don’t bother ringing you back, make up daft excuses, the list goes on. Best was one of their colleagues eating breakfast at her desk. I mean come on, that’s basic isn’t it. First impressions etc!
Not interested in you unless you’re using their products/services.

All 3 agents in the firm had an attitude problem. (Stacey and 2 other white women) Well done on being the most problematic women, no surprise there. Avoid if you can. Don't know what's happened to all the good women sales agents but this is just embarassing and degrading for women who genuinely do their jobs. Also avoid using their solicitors, they are just as problematic. Don't fall for the nice act they portray in the beginning, they only want your money.

Beyond professional!
As a first time buyer it’s always a daunting process and idea of getting a mortgage. My partner and I had been turned away from pretty much every estate agent and mortgage broker, due to simple lack of effort with the process, however, Jade Loco was our ‘home saver’ putting in extra work hours to help us get a mortgage granted and making sure we had all are insurance policy in place. The mortgage came through seamlessly with her help. We just received our keys today and we cannot be more grateful and happy for all the hard work she put in. Would absolutely recommend this company for those looking to buy/sell their home.
It began with us finding the house we loved online back in January, we spoke to Stacy who was dealing with the property and she was so lovely and professional in getting us booked in quickly for a viewing. We had a laugh over common interests while at the property and she sold it perfectly to us. She didn’t rush us or make us feel under pressure, which we’ve felt previously with other estate agencies. We had our one year old little girl with us which can often be a struggle and Stacy remained calm and collected while talking over toddler babble and whinges.
Bridgfords Stalybridge were dealing with the property that we wanted to buy and we ended up selling through Bridgfords in Denton (just due to the area) meaning your company had full control over our sale and purchase. Which was the best decision we’d made!
I can’t sit here and say I am an easy client, Infact I was probably one of the most annoying. However, Stacy was always so informative on the phone when we were asking questions, and she was so on the ball with every bit of the process. Even “dumbing” it down for us folk who don’t speak the world of property! She has followed up on absolutely everything making sure she calls back as soon as any progress has been made to keep me in the loop. You can tell in the way she speaks and the way she acts she’s incredibly experienced at what she does and she has years of knowledge and expertise. As well as a generally all round lovely attitude.
She has done nothing short of a miracle, as if it wasn’t for Stacy and her active role in our house process then unfortunately we wouldn’t be moving as quickly as we are doing.
I want to extend my thanks to the whole team at Bridgfords as in Stacys absence you have all been super lovely and courteous over the phone in helping me and my partner out. Absolutely honest and unfiltered review, RICHARD came to our house when we began our sale process and reassured us that we will be provided with an in-house solicitor (which never happened)and everything will be dealt with very smoothly and efficiently, they did find us a buyer within a week but i guess the house sold itself too as it was quite immaculate and in a sought after area.
This is the only thing Bridgfords did though, PUT OUR HOUSE ON RIGHTMOVE AND GOT AN OFFER THROUGH, rest 5 months of absolute pain was left to us to deal with, i have to be truthful here if anyone in there who actually pulled their socks up was STACY, who actually understood our pain and anxiety and rang around to speed up the process, in simple words she did the job or at least tried doing the job of the branch manager RICHARD TAYLOR.
Their recommended solicitor put us through HELL, Ignored our emails, messages, calls, voicemails, lied to us on several occasions, and Bridgfords did absolutely nothing to escalate this until we begged them to… we actually got to a point where we visited the branch manager RICHARD TAYLOR ourselves and he literally threw his hands in the air and said there is nothing he can do other than just wait… and was actually shocked that we were making so much noise 4th month in to our sale process although FULLY being aware of our solicitors lies(as it was his recommendation)which was v v disappointing as he was the one who sold Bridgfords in the first place.
We are now taking legal action against the solicitor who messed us about and lied to us on several occasions(all proofs have been submitted), we were the ones who contacted council and any other parties involved to get the replies to the enquiries for buyers solicitors while RICHARD and his recommended solicitor sat back and watched it all happen.
My call and email history is full of 10am morning calls as a routine to Bridgfords.
We dealt with all of this while our house was full of half packed boxes and a disabled child.
If you ever have to deal with Bridgfords, try dealing with Stacy lord(have to give the credit where its due) and stay away from any promises that RICHARD TAYLOR has to make.

I would never recommend this branch or company after selling my house with them.
We sold our house the same day the sign went up (Saturday) and wasn’t told we had an offer until the Monday afternoon. Pictures were taken and posted online when we asked them not to as 1 the house had sold and 2 the pictures are horrendous. They have posted pictures you can see of two family members one being my little girl also they have photoshopped one of the pictures that has a massive black circle in the picture. These pictures have now gone live on Zoopla. Please avoid Bridgefords and use someone else.

Bridgfords Stalybridge store staff were all very down to earth, responsive to calls and emails and I genuinely believe they have their clients best interests with everything they do. I first contacted Bridgefords when I was living in Jersey. I had another firm who were selling the property but I only had 9 viewings in 8 months and didn't feel they pushed my property enough. I asked Richard to take a look and decided to instruct him. Unfortunately covid came along with lockdown. I then made the decision to move back to the UK. I had advised Richard of this. He did have viewings lined up when lockdown relaxed but unfortunately I was shielding. I have now taken my property off the market but when it goes up for sale I will definitely contact Richard. We asked 5 local estate agents for a valuation. Only Gemma of Bridgfords enthused about our property and went away to do further research. The other four agents were casual in the extreme. Our property sold in two days and Stacy was absolutely dogged about solving many problems even helping us with buying another property in Durham. Friendly, knowedgable and efficient she was a treasure, even helping us to get our next house Insured when there were problems. Now that is value for money! You won't get better than that.

Really unpleasant experience when buying a house. Borderline almost pulled out due to condescending / bullying phone calls where we were accused of lying due to solicitors not pulling their weight, no fault of our own (could have been at vendors' side for all we knew).
The courtesy and helpfulness is dropped as soon as things are not going the agents' way, really immature and intelligence-insulting stuff. When the only thing that was needed was a little patience and liaison will all parties. Partner had to take over and complete the transaction before I wiped the floor with the agent; would have been much easier just to deal with the seller directly.
Ignored repeated requests to be removed from marketing, had our details passed on to third parties.
Pretty much everything you do not want when using an estate agent, we'd never use Bridgfords / Countrywide again for life. Made an already stressful procedure much worse.

I cant write a positive review here. We got treated poorly so bad we nearly didnt buy the house. In the end we had to go through the original vendor and our adviser. Tip for people purchasing. If you find a problem with the house dont ring these ring the vendor and sort it or you will be told your ungrateful and have a rude reception.

Although we didn’t find the ideal property with Bridgefords, and actually only communicated briefly over the course of week, I’d just like to thank them for their help.
They were by far and above the best estate agent we spoke to in terms of helpfulness. They were committed to helping us find our perfect home, with Stacy always suggesting other alternatives to view, lining up new viewings that hadn't gone on the market yet, and keeping in touch with us. She was by far and above the best estate agent we dealt with in our house hunt, and would be an asset to sellers too.
Carly was extremely helpful and caring in her approach to dealing with mortgages and finances, and I'd definitely recommend her great attitude and skill. Richard has also since been out to view the current property we are in and was a pleasure to deal with - again, outstanding friendly communication - couldn't fault them.

Fantastic! The staff were ever so helpful and took their time to explain everything to us! They found us a buyer before the house had gone online! The figure we achieved was more than the other agents had quoted us too!! They may of charged a little more but they are worth every penny!! My word of advice is don't listen to what the cheap agents say when they try and criticise bridgfords fees!!! Their photos were also excellent! Will recommend them to all our friends and family!

Rick and the team at the Stalybridge branch were fantastic throughout my purchase. Always available to answer any questions, full of knowledge on the local area and really helpful in the legal side of things. Would highly recommend. At first I was slightly disappointed in the conveyancing quote they provided to help me complete the purchase but just simply used my own solicitor. However this did not work in my favour due to numerous issues with my 'cheaper solicitor'! You get what you pay for. Always worth paying that little extra to get a smooth purchase.

I cannot highly enough recommend this branch of Bridgfords. Their expertise and professionalism is superb, special mention to Richard and Stacy.
I am only sorry that I did not contact them sooner, to avoid the disappointment of dealing with other cheaper but ineffectual agents. My property was sold by them before it was even marketed online or in print (and in their shop window). This is because this team rang around their buying contacts !!!!
Finally, I would also highly recommend using Bridgfords conveyancing solicitors Countrywide. Whilst they are not the cheapest option their fast track service is fantastic. It keeps you updated via email on every step that has been completed in the process, it is so reassuring to see how things are moving along every couple of days or so.

My experience as a buyer with Stalybridge Bridgfords has been great. As a first time buyer I struggled with a few aspects of my purchase ~(due to inexperience) and both Stacy and Ian have been incredibly patient with me and made extra time to go through my questions and concerns. I did not feel pressured at any stage and if I am ever in the position to sell or buy in the future I would not hesitate in contacting Bridgfords to guide me through the process.
I did have a second sold sign put up outside my house though 2 months after receiving the key which I found amusing! But I can't imagine that was a direct fault of the Stalybridge branch as they knew full well I'd completed.
